Chapter 1562: Part 1: Plight of the Merchant Association

From MC’s Perspective:

At night, I started walking around. From the place, I could guess that it was related to the transport facility.

If I want to go to other areas, then I have to find the exit. Then I started looking for such places. The system warned me when there was a danger.

Unless a person makes direct contact with me. He won’t be able to sense my presence. With that confidence, I continued to search.

Unknowingly, I left the previous area. Now I’m going in the direction where I’m hearing a lot of noise. As if there was noise coming from the bustling street.

Not long after, following the path. I noticed that the path leads to huge compound walls. Basically, it separates the transport facility from other streets.

I can’t take the risk of going back. It was fortunate that no one saw me.

Swoosh!

Then I used the flight ability to fly across the wall.

[Ding! Warning!]

[Magic formations were activated.]

The system warned me. But I have reached the other side of the giant wall. Like I guessed it before it was indeed a busy street.

But I appeared inside the Gregor Mansion. Then I went to the control room to check.

I’m expecting the wizards to arrive.

Outside,

A few figures appeared on the spot in a few seconds right after the alarm. They started looking for the culprit.

When they saw the other side was the bustling street. Their expressions changed. The figures then disappeared into the crowds to look for the culprit.

There is a flying ban. If someone breaks the ban, then they have to pay a hefty fine. Right now, the wizards went after the culprits.

They didn’t take breaking the rules seriously. Because it happens from time to time. In the end, the people were caught. They paid the fine before leaving the Merchant Association.

Even the locals weren’t surprised after seeing the officials.

A smile appeared on my face in the Gregor Mansion. Not long after they left. I appeared outside and joined the crowd.

I have started collecting information by listening to the conversation of the people. They are indeed talking about the faction wars.

The Merchant Association was one of the neutral places where they could discuss these things.

Time passed,

The officials failed to catch the culprit. In the end, they let it go. It was just a minor crime. Next time, they have decided to be quite strict.

On the other hand, I’m going around the streets collecting information. There are several streets where shops on both sides were open.

Not only was I able to collect basic information. I got some information about the Merchant Association as well. As I guessed, the Merchant Association’s Head is a Magic Lord.

He won’t go outside. He basically resides and looks after the city. If there is any attack from the Magic Lords he will take care of it.

The 2 Supreme Wizards met with him and told their encounter with the suspected Magic Lord. How did they escape from the giant fire ball?

If it weren’t for the Magic Lord cancelling the spell, everyone would have died there.

The Head of the Merchant Association, the elders and the Supreme Wizards here took the matter seriously. They too thought that someone was trying to probe their strength.

If their airships had the protection of the Magic Lords, then anything could have happened.

The suspected Magic Lord didn’t come to probe. Maybe he wanted to eliminate the potential enemy. The Head and other higher ups got serious.

They have decided to reduce the number of people visiting from outside. The matter of the spy intruding Merchant Association area at the border was discussed as well.

It was just that the spy escaped early. They weren’t able to catch him on time. But they didn’t know that the same spy was collecting information about them here in this city.

---

Meanwhile,

There are people on both sides of the dark and white faction who are eyeing the neutral faction. Both didn’t like the neutral stance of the Merchant Association.

The higher ups of these places heard about the spy incident at the border. They have investigated on their sides to learn that it was not them.

Both sides thought it was the work of other sides. Because of it, they have an unfavorable attitude towards the Merchant Association.

Both sides could press the wizard families associated with them to change the stance of the Merchant Association.

If not there will be added pressure on the Merchant Association in coming days.

---

A few days past by,

In the Merchant Association’s City, I have collected a lot of information. I even found a place to stay. It’s at the back of the mountain.

The Merchant Association’s City and other towns were literally located on the huge series of the giant mountain.

This small mountain is located behind the city. Apart from the locals, no one comes here. I have found this place by following the local group.

They entered the wild area to collect mountain herbs. If it were any other place, I would have opened a small cave here. But this action could leave behind the traces.

So I appeared inside the Gregor Mansion. Then I went to bed to think about the next plan. From these days of collecting information.

I learned many things. My appearance at the border had caused indirect changes. The officials put out a statement saying the number of visitors was reduced.

The officials were also monitoring the streets. If any suspicious person appears they take him for interrogation.

There are also rumours going on that both factions dislike the Merchant Association. They started reducing business with the Merchant Association.

One thing I understood was that these 2 factions were forcing the Merchant Association to make a choice.

I don’t know how long the Merchant Association would be able to maintain the stance.

If I were in the Dark faction, I would have started working by now. Since I’m here I don’t know whom to target for now.
