Chapter 896: Chapter 892: The Shadow Killer

”Okay!”

Xiao Tian agreed, and after Xiang Yiting calmed down a bit, he continued to walk down, calculating the depth of the underground laboratory of the expert they were about to meet as he walked.

After taking two more turns, light finally appeared. At this point, according to Xiao Tian’s estimate, they had descended almost ten meters underground, nearly the standard depth of an air-raid shelter!

Along the way, they made their way down slowly, almost feeling their way along the direction of the railing. The tactile sensation of the cracked paint under their hands suggested that the place hadn’t been serviced or repainted for at least two years.

However, considering this was underground, these details didn’t matter much.

Finally, after turning the last corner, they met the main character of this trip, the owner of this desolate manor—Adison Claire.

At first sight, there appeared an infinitely graceful silhouette, with a slender waist that could be held with one hand, full and rounded hips, and was even more alluring under the tight-fitting white coat.

Seeing this scene, Xiao Tian couldn’t help but nod slightly. Judging by this dangerously seductive silhouette, the proportions of her figure, and the cascade of brown hair, she was certainly a Western woman.

”Hello, Dr. Claire!” Xiang Yiting cautiously took steps towards Adison Claire and greeted her carefully.

However, from her expression, Xiao Tian could still detect some awkwardness, as if she had seen something difficult to accept.

Upon hearing Xiang Yiting’s greeting, Adison Claire didn’t even lift her head, continuing to busy herself with her tasks.

It seemed that Xiang Yiting anticipated this behavior and didn’t show much surprise.

During this time, Xiao Tian’s mind was racing, attempting to deduce Adison Claire’s personality from everything he observed, preparing for what was to come.

Firstly, her attire: her coat wasn’t immaculately clean as depicted in ordinary movies or TV shows. The cuffs and sides had noticeable stains, yet the rest remained clean. Overall, it gave off an impression that, despite being unkempt, she wouldn’t be considered slovenly.

From this, Xiao Tian deduced that she was someone unfettered in life but meticulous in her work, with her own principles.

Just as Xiao Tian was about to observe Adison Claire’s actions more closely to gather more useful information, he noticed Xiang Yiting discreetly signaling him to come over.

Feeling helpless, Xiao Tian stepped forward, in fact, unwilling or inept at dealing with such aloof people. It always gave him a feeling of not having control, of being led by the nose.

Of course, Xiao Tian wouldn’t be so double-standard to expect Adison Claire to treat him with civility while wishing to leverage her expertise.

But at the very least, conversations should be from a relatively fair perspective; otherwise, nothing said or done could result in equal treatment.

When Xiao Tian moved to stand beside Xiang Yiting, upon noticing the face of this internationally renowned chemistry expert, Adison Claire, even with his composure, he couldn’t help but be shocked internally!

Adison Claire, who was bowing her head over her work, had a scar about ten centimeters long almost spanning her entire cheek, with a width of roughly five centimeters.

Furthermore, there were scattered scars from other burns, unevenly dispersed, some as large as a button, others as small as a shell. As for tiny rice-grain-like marks, there were countless.

Judging by the skin on her neck, it seemed there were burn marks elsewhere, covered by her clothes, leaving one to wonder what terrifying scene lay beneath those garments.

To put it bluntly, Adison Claire could easily play a zombie from Resident Evil without any makeup!

Xiao Tian’s shock wasn’t only due to the terrifying scars on Adison Claire’s face but also an inability to reconcile the drastic contrast.

From the back, Adison Claire was unquestionably a figure killer, a wonderfully curvaceous silhouette that no one could deny.

Yet upon seeing her face, anyone faint of heart might pass out on the spot due to sheer fright.

Though internally turbulent, Xiao Tian maintained a calm exterior, showing neither shock nor any other noticeable expressions.

This caused Xiang Yiting to breathe a silent sigh of relief while also feeling a deep sense of admiration!

Recalling her first encounter with the unmasked and unshaded Adison Claire, and her two-minute silence, Xiang Yiting felt Xiao Tian had handled it with impeccable standard!

He was at least a level above her!

Noticing Xiao Tian’s approach, Adison Claire only gave him a brief glance before immersing herself in her work again, treating the two standing there as non-existent.

Using the moment Adison Claire turned away, Xiang Yiting hurriedly whispered, ”Don’t just stand there; at least greet her or something, right?”

Xiao Tian curiously asked, ”She looks very focused. Wouldn’t interrupting her seem impolite?”

”You don’t know this, but if Dr. Adison Claire is genuinely focused, she wouldn’t even realize we are here unless you shout in her ear or affect her work, otherwise, she won’t notice us at all.”

Xiang Yiting explained solemnly, ”She just glanced at us, indicating her current work isn’t that crucial, or she isn’t entirely absorbed. If we don’t seize the chance to speak now, once she gets serious, who knows how long we’ll have to wait!”

After hearing Xiang Yiting’s explanation, although Xiao Tian felt it might be inappropriate, he chose to follow her advice, given her prior interactions with Adison Claire.

Moments later, Xiao Tian spoke in fluent English, ”Hello, Dr. Adison Claire, I’m Xiao Erren, from Huaxia!”

As he spoke, he instinctively extended his hand.

Adison Claire frowned slightly, looked at his outstretched hand, then looked up at Xiao Tian, and after a moment, set aside a bottle of blue liquid on a special rack, removed a white glove, but showed no intention of shaking his hand.

”Don’t you know that interrupting someone like that is a very impolite thing to do?!”

As she spoke, a slightly playful smile appeared on Adison Claire’s face as she looked at Xiao Tian with a hint of amusement, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
