Genetic Engineer in a Tamer's World

The thunderous echoes of the colosseum gradually faded as Kale Ardentis walked down the vaulted stone exit corridor. His gold-trimmed Master robes brushed against the polished marble floor, his gait steady and measured.

Beneath his grey headband and high collar, the gold runic mesh hidden beneath his skin hummed with a faint warmth. The dual forces of the Terra Shell and the Ignis Core maintained perfect equilibrium, masking his black curse mark from every scrying sensor in the arena.

Kale adjusted his spatial pouch, confirming the heavy presence of the Ancient-rank elemental core resting inside. He had finally achieved his primary objective in the Zenith Competition, securing his standing in the capital.

That single catalyst contained enough raw elemental density to advance the next phase of his Elemental Resonance Project. With it, Neo could begin waking his dormant affinities without triggering a genetic rejection cascade inside his body.

The corridor widened as he reached the private holding area reserved for Association grandmasters and imperial guests. The cool drafts blowing through the tall stone arches carried the faint scent of sulfur, ozone, and old incense.

Lazek Oberon emerged from the shadow of an arched pillar, his dark grey cloak fluttering softly in the cool draft. The Fleshcraft Grandmaster carried his usual expression of detachment, though a subtle glint of pride shone in his dark eyes.

’You performed exceptionally well, disciple.’

Lazek noted the quiet efficiency of Kale’s movements as they walked side by side toward the venue’s exit gates.

’The noble houses of the capital will be dissecting your Fleshcraft integration methods for months.’

’The test was simple enough, Master.’

Kale replied flatly, his green eyes scanning the surrounding alcoves for any hidden watchers or church paladins.

’The Feral subject possessed clean nervous channels, making the elemental infusion straightforward.’

Lazek offered a short, approving nod as they continued walking toward the VIP holding chamber.

’Do not drop your guard just yet. High Inquisitor Luke was watching you from the eastern gallery throughout the entire final round.’

’Let him watch.’

Kale said quietly, his tone devoid of any nervousness or hesitation as he kept his pace steady.

’My registration is legally sealed by imperial decree. He cannot touch me within the Association without inciting an open conflict with the crown.’

Before Lazek could reply, the heavy oak doors of the VIP holding chamber opened ahead of them. Prince Renard stepped into the corridor, flanked by four gold-armoured imperial guards.

Princess Aria followed close behind her brother, her crimson silk dress sweeping gracefully across the marble floor. Her yellow eyes held a sharp, calculating brightness as she locked her gaze onto Kale’s figure.

Renard let out a loud laugh that echoed off the high stone walls, raising a hand in greeting.

’A magnificent victory, Master Kale! You have thoroughly crushed the arrogant pride of House Morrow today.’

’You displayed remarkable discipline under pressure, Kale.’

Aria added, her melodic voice carrying a soft warmth that resonated through the quiet hallway.

’My brother was practically cheering from his seat during your final incision.’

Renard turned toward his sister with a smug grin, his bright red hair catching the torchlight.

’Did I not tell you that this green-haired genius would claim the grand prize without a single issue, sister?’

’Your confidence was surprisingly accurate for once, Renard.’

Aria remarked softly, tapping her golden fan against her palm with a rhythmic, measured click.

’Though I suspect his Master’s guidance played a far greater role than your blind faith.’

’The credit belongs entirely to my disciple’s unmatched talent.’

Lazek interjected coldly, stepping slightly between Kale and the royal siblings to block their probing gazes.

’He executes his work with absolute precision, needing very little intervention from anyone.’

Kale offered a formal half bow toward the royal siblings, keeping his expression completely neutral and guarded.

’I am honoured by Your Highnesses praise, but the core requires immediate preservation procedures in my laboratory.’

’Of course.’

Renard said, waving his hand generously as the royal guards stepped back to clear the hallway.

’We shall not delay your important work. Remember our arrangement regarding the private faction guards once you have settled.’

A sudden drop in ambient temperature chilled the corridor, causing the flames of the wall torches to flicker violently. The heavy clatter of iron boots echoed from the far end of the hallway, announcing a new arrival.

High Inquisitor Luke walked forward, surrounded by six fully armoured paladins of the Dragon Church. His blood-red robes trailed behind him, his pale face tight with cold, predatory fury.

The golden sunburst medallion on Luke’s chest hummed with a faint, searching resonance. His colourless eyes locked onto Kale with an intensity that seemed to pierce through the stone floor.

’An impressive victory, Master Ardentis.’

Luke said, his raspy voice dripping with hidden threat as the paladins formed a semicircle behind him.

’To command living tissue with such terrifying ease is a rare gift indeed.’

’The trial was judged by the Grandmasters of the Association, Inquisitor.’

Kale replied calmly, his eyes unblinking as he met the Inquisitor’s gaze directly without flinching.

’Every procedure complied strictly with the established laws of the craft.’

Luke took a step closer, his thin hands tucked deep inside his wide crimson sleeves.

’Laws can be manipulated by clever minds, boy. But the Dragon Church possesses a long memory.’

’You carry an aura that feels unnaturally quiet.’

Luke continued, his voice lowering into a sharp, rasping whisper that reached only the immediate group.

’It is almost as if something monstrous is being forcefully compressed beneath your skin.’

Renard stepped directly into Luke’s path, his yellow eyes flashing with royal authority.

’You exceed your boundaries, High Inquisitor. Master Kale is an imperial champion protected by my seal.’

’The crown’s protection is broad, Your Highness.’

Luke said, offering a stiff, insincere bow toward the prince without breaking his eye contact.

’Yet even royal blood cannot shield a heretic if the World Dragon demands a reckoning.’

’Are you threatening the royal family, Luke?’

Aria asked, her voice dropping into a dangerous, icy tone that startled the surrounding imperial guards.

’I merely state the eternal truths of our faith, Princess.’

Luke replied coldly, turning his gaze back to Kale with an unreadable, grim expression.

’We shall meet again soon, Master Ardentis.’

With a sharp flick of his red sleeve, Luke turned around and led his paladins away down the dark corridor. Their heavy metal steps faded slowly into the distance.

Renard let out a quiet scoff, adjusting the golden trim of his velvet doublet with a flick of his wrist.

’That vulture grows bolder by the day. He knows his time in the capital is limited.’

’We should depart before he decides to return with a larger contingent.’

Lazek suggested, placing a firm hand on Kale’s shoulder to guide him toward the lower stairwell.

’Our work in the Fleshcraft Tower cannot wait for political bickering.’

Kale nodded, bidding a short farewell to the royal siblings before following his master down the private passage. They reached the secluded lower courtyard where their gold carriage waited in the shade.

The ride back to the southern sector was fast and quiet. Kale sat near the carriage window, his gaze tracking the flickering lights of the capital streets passing by outside in the dusk.

He could feel the heavy, stable weight of the Ancient rank elemental core inside his spatial pouch. The energy radiating through the fabric was incredibly dense, promising massive growth for Neo.

They entered the Fleshcraft Tower through the underground entrance, bypassing the public lobby entirely. The secret lift carried them smoothly up to the fourth-floor research sector.

Kale unlocked the heavy steel door of his private laboratory, the protective runic arrays glowing brightly before settling into a quiet standby mode.

Lazek stepped inside behind him, securing the iron bolts of the entrance with a heavy turn of the key.

’The core is yours, Kale. What is your immediate plan for its refinement?’

’I need to analyse its elemental purity using the Gene Lab.’

Kale explained, unrolling his research notes onto the central stone workbench with practised speed.

He unsealed his spatial pouch and placed the Ancient rank elemental core onto the table. The orb emitted a brilliant, multicoloured radiance that illuminated every corner of the dark room.

The laboratory’s ambient temperature fluctuated rapidly, shifting from a cool draft to a sudden wave of dry heat within seconds as the core reacted to the air.

Neo emerged from Kale’s shadow, hopping onto the stone table with eager, fluid movements. The hydra’s three heads arched high, its six golden eyes fixed on the glowing catalyst with intense hunger.

’Patience, Neo.’

Kale murmured, stroking the central head’s scales to calm the beast’s rising excitement.

’We must filter the raw energy before you consume a single unit.’

Kale activated his energy vision, his green eyes shimmering with a bright light. The Ancient core’s complex internal structure appeared clearly in his mind.

The core contained five distinct elemental nodes, each packed with a density that exceeded anything he had previously dissected. It was a masterwork of natural condensation, holding limitless potential.

To integrate this catalyst safely without triggering genetic rejection, he needed to separate the five elemental streams into glass containment vials.

He picked up a silver surgical needle and a set of five heat-resistant vials, arranging them carefully on the stone surface in a precise arc.

’This catalyst contains enough pure energy to jumpstart your dormant affinities.’

Kale said, pointing his surgical knife toward the glowing matrix with absolute precision.

’We will begin the extraction process immediately.’

Neo let out a low, satisfied trill from all three maws, its green wings fluttering with excitement as it coiled beside the glowing core.

Kale brought the silver needle closer to the central node, his fingers steady as the tip touched the outer shell, ready to begin the delicate operation.
