Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Bet or not?

Lu Li couldn’t make up his mind to choose.

The cost of betting might be too high, losing might result in losing one’s life.

As the saying goes, risk and reward are proportional.

If he wins the bet, the rewards can be quite substantial.

The fifth dimension possesses endless ”Yin and Yang Qi” energy.

If he truly wins the bet, he could harvest an almost inexhaustible energy source.

This would greatly help in enhancing evolution.

Because both the risks and rewards are too great, Lu Li is extremely conflicted and can’t make a choice.

”Maybe I should find someone to talk to, they might help me make up my mind.”

Lu Li pondered who he should talk to.

He looked at Liu Kexin, who was sleeping soundly in his arms, and immediately ruled her out.

First of all, she was sleeping deeply, waking someone up to discuss something didn’t feel right.

Secondly, Liu Kexin was several months pregnant and needed her sleep.

Lastly, and most importantly.

Lu Li wanted to talk to someone with whom he could speak freely without reservations.

Liu Kexin was too close to him, some things were difficult to discuss.

His first reaction was to find Shen Xia, but he sensed she was working tirelessly in the lab, it didn’t seem right to disturb her now.

Parents?

The same reasoning as with Liu Kexin.

Wang Yu?

No, an old classmate who now worships him like a deity probably wouldn’t provide good advice.

Qin Liang?

Gu Wei?

Peng Erping?

No, none of these would work.

Lu Li went through practically everyone relatively close to him.

Even Peng Erping, who wasn’t as close, was considered, but he couldn’t determine who he could chat with freely.

For a moment, he felt inexplicably lonely, ”I am clearly the strongest in the universe, in the entire Milky Way Galaxy, and even in the Virgo Supercluster, no one dares provoke me, why am I so lonely?”

Indeed.

Why so lonely?

Lu Li sighed, ”It truly is lonely at the top.”

When one’s status and position reach a certain level, genuine friends tend to become few.

Even when others consider you a true friend, ”class” influence always exists, creating some barriers.

He was a bit confused, not knowing if having such powerful strength and such high status made him happy.

Lu Li suddenly recalled when he once had nothing.

Although poor, his life was fulfilling.

Can’t say every day was happy.

At least emotions alternated.

Making life flavorful.

And now?

Having everything, life seems stagnant.

For example, now, finding someone to speak freely with is difficult.

Lu Li really felt a bit lost, couldn’t find where the meaning of life lay.

Suddenly, he sensed Li Yajing, who was in Shanghai, had just finished her broadcast and was taking a cab.

Li Yajing originally signed a one-year ”unpaid contract” with Vox.

Logically, the contract hadn’t expired, she should be broadcasting at Vox.

But Lu Li’s relationship with her improved somewhat, and he had tricked her into signing the contract, so he later casually mentioned to Liu Kexin to let Vox and Li Yajing cancel the unfair broadcasting contract.

After leaving Vox, Li Yajing returned to her old profession, doing live streaming sales for a snack company, hence she was in Shanghai.

”How about... talking to her?”

Lu Li recalled the ambiguous moments he had with Li Yajing.

Must say, it felt quite nice.

Given his previous ”thirst level,” and Li Yajing’s apparent interest in him, it was highly likely he would have been intimate with her.

But who knew his evolution speed would accelerate and his social status would rise, gradually they lost contact, and the ambiguity ceased.

”Haven’t felt that kind of passionate sensation in a long time.”

Lu Li couldn’t help but sigh.

Perhaps life was too dreary, he longed for some passion.

In the end, Lu Li decided to find Li Yajing for a chat.

The ambiguity didn’t matter, what mattered was whether they could talk freely.

...

Shanghai, Modong District.

Sanlin, Li Yajing had just gotten into the cab and was about to ask the driver to start driving.

Unexpectedly, the door opened from the outside, and a young man got in.

The driver glanced in the rear-view mirror, seeing someone else had gotten on, casually asked, ”Beauty, your boyfriend?”

Li Yajing was about to say no.

She didn’t recognize the young man in front of her.

Unexpectedly, the young man smiled and said, ”Yes, drive on.”

Recognizing the familiar voice, Li Yajing suddenly turned her head, somewhat unsure, ”Lu...”

The young man immediately gestured ”shh,” ”It’s me, don’t say it out loud, or we’ll be noticed, and we won’t have peace.”

The driver glanced at the rear-view mirror, thinking Lu Li might be some celebrity.

Then he checked and saw he was just ordinary, not some star.

He further asked, ”Beauty, should I follow the navigation?”

Li Yajing hurriedly said, ”Yes, drive on, he’s my... my... boyfriend.”

The driver said ”oh,” slowly started the car.

Li Yajing glanced at the driver, then leaned towards Lu Li’s ear and whispered, ”What made you come find me?”

A wave of humid warmth blew over, accompanied by a fragrant scent.

Clearly, Li Yajing had cleaned her mouth after streaming.

Lu Li replied in a similarly low voice, half-jokingly, ”Missed you, so I came to see you.”
