Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Because of that, she got quite a lot of votes and squeezed into the top twenty right from the start.

The key thing was, as time went on, her ranking still hadn’t dropped; if anything, there was even a faint trend of continuing to climb.

Then there was that Li Certain from the Peninsula; his situation was a bit similar to Xiong Wen Si Lang’s. Since the Peninsula had been destroyed by Lu Li and its people scattered all over the world, when he tried to rally the crowd, there was zero response. His ranking now was downright miserable—down at one hundred and eighty-six. He couldn’t even beat some big shot from a tiny neighboring country.

A certain big shot from Thailand was ranked seventy-eighth.

A big shot from a small country in Africa was ranked one hundred and ninety-second.

A big shot from a small country in Europe was ranked one hundred and seventy-ninth.

What really caught people off guard was the Great Emperor. A lot of people originally thought he’d make top five, but who knew he hadn’t even broken into the top ten yet; right now he was sitting exactly at eleventh place.

It was obvious that in this preliminary round of the ”Lord of Ten Thousand Stars” election, people around the globe weren’t just buying into whoever had the strongest individual power on Earth. Most of the time, they were thinking about whether this candidate could actually lead humans on Earth to glory.

Or to put it another way, whether this final winning candidate would have a shot at competing with candidates from other planets in the Orion Arm and ultimately reaching the final round of the general election.

In short, everyone was very rational and not voting blindly.

Honestly, it was perfectly normal for people to think this way. Not long ago, after all, Earth civilization had almost been wiped out by the Spiritual Race, and then everyone went through the biggest war disaster in the history of the Milky Way Galaxy. A lot of things were now crystal clear; people knew what kind of person needed to lead humanity on Earth to secure a better future.

As for Lu Li’s ranking?

At Diamond Home, his younger brothers and sisters were all shouting their heads off.

”Holy shit!”

”Why is there no ranking for our big bro?”

”Rigged! The voting side is definitely cheating! Even if my bro says he doesn’t want to be elected, there’s no way nobody voted for him. I just combed through the whole ranking list and couldn’t find my bro at all. I’m so pissed!”

”Exactly! Why is there no ranking for my bro? I don’t accept this. I’m filing a complaint!”

Watching his younger siblings getting so worked up, Lu Li couldn’t help but let out a speechless laugh.

He knew perfectly well why he didn’t have a ranking.

It wasn’t that they’d removed his voting option; it was that too many people had voted for him. Even computers couldn’t crunch the exact numbers in the short term, so they simply hadn’t given him a ranking yet.

Because he understood the situation, Lu Li sat there, frowning and thinking to himself: ”These bastards aren’t seriously going to vote me into being Earth’s candidate, are they? Let’s hope not.”

The second cousin was furious. ”I’m calling to complain right now.”

”Yeah.” The eldest cousin backed her up: ”With our bro’s influence, his appeal, he’s obviously number one. This is clearly someone cheating. Come on, let’s call and complain right now and demand they give our bro justice!”

Lu Li hurriedly stopped them. ”Complain about what? Justice my ass. Who on Earth would dare treat me unfairly? If there’s no ranking, there’s obviously a reason. Just sit tight and wait. Once the final vote tally’s done, my ranking will show up naturally.”

The cousin said, ”True, who’d dare mess with the big boss? My bro’s someone who can blow up a star system. No way they’ve got the balls.”

The second cousin glanced at Lu Li. ”Bro, how about we vote for you ourselves, see if your ranking pops out or not?”

Lu Li absolutely refused to let them vote for him.

Come on, the current number of votes was already so huge they could barely keep up with the counting. If he let more people vote for him, wouldn’t that lock in his status as Earth’s candidate?

Once that Earth candidate identity was set, Lu Li dared pat his chest and swear that when it came time for the mid-Orion Arm election, he’d definitely become the representative, then enter the final round, and even win the last general election.

He really didn’t want to become the ”Lord of Ten Thousand Stars.”

If he actually wanted the job, would he even need to bother with this whole voting thing?

All he had to do was say the word, and you think the Milky Way Galaxy wouldn’t obediently submit to his rule?

Forget the Milky Way Galaxy—if Lu Li wanted to rule the whole Cosmos, it really wouldn’t be that hard.

Lu Li might not want to be elected, but his ”followers” were already losing their minds.

”Fuck!”

”Where the hell is the ’Eternal Star Lord’s’ ranking?”

”You guys rigging this or what?”

”Damn! Who do you think you’re messing with? You think you can screw over the ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’?”

”Brothers, hurry up and call to complain!”

An hour went by.

The rankings of all the other candidates kept shifting, but there was still no statistical ranking for Lu Li’s votes.

That did it—people who had originally planned to respect Lu Li’s wish and not vote for him couldn’t sit still anymore.

”Goddamn!”

”Is the Galaxy Alliance bullying people now?”

”So they just don’t want our ’Eternal Star Lord’ to get elected?”

”No shit. As long as the ’Eternal Star Lord’ makes it into the finals, with the prestige he’s got in the Milky Way Galaxy, who the hell could compete with him? Those alien mutts know they can’t beat the ’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’ in terms of prestige, so they’re playing dirty!”

”Down with the Galaxy Alliance!”

”’Lord of Ten Thousand Stars’, just say the word and we’ll storm the Alliance headquarters with you!”

Countless people started moving.

Some went straight to the phones to file complaints.

Some more radical types even ran over to their local administrative voting centers to cause trouble.

Of course, most people just flamed the hell out of them online and didn’t actually join in on the chaos.

Whether they took real action or were just being ”keyboard warriors,” it was enough to show where everyone stood when it came to Lu Li.
