Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 477: Self-Created Technique & Incredible Speed of Progress

Shockingly, Liora had managed to complete her first practice of the Cosmic Energy Refinement Technique on her very first attempt!

It had only taken her a few seconds!

Yet, she had completed a process that would have taken other people days, if not weeks.

Despite this, Liora was not happy.

Though she could feel herself growing stronger and giving birth to another power within her body, she felt that the process was... too slow.

Yes! This speed, which would have shocked even Rank 9 Awakeners, was considered slow for Liora!

”I’m currently only a Rank 0 Awakener, barely better than an ordinary mortal. If I want to advance to Rank 1, it will take me hours.”

”Reaching Rank 2 will take days... Rank 3 weeks...”

”With such a slow speed of progress, wouldn’t it take me months to become a Rank 9 Awakener?”

If anyone were to hear her outrageous claims, they would think she had been driven insane.

For other people, even the most talented, it would take months, if not years, to reach Rank 2. Just like Liora previously said, a Rank 2 Awakener was equivalent to a Lesser Devil.

How could one possibly gain such strength in just a few days? It was a long-term process, requiring hard work, talent, and resources.

As for Rank 9? Most people would never have that chance!

Unfortunately, despite truly believing her own claims, Liora was far from satisfied.

”Practicing slowly would have been fine if I were alone, but with the threat of the Hollow Ancestor looming over my head, it’s impossible for me to practice like this.”, she shook her head.

Her eyes narrowed.

”I can feel that the major weak link in my current practice is the Cosmic Energy Refinement Technique. My Predation talent appears to be limited by its slow efficiency.”

This made sense.

The Cosmic Energy Refinement Technique was a common technique, practiced by pretty much everyone. It was only after students enrolled in an Awakener University or College that they would obtain more powerful and specialized techniques.

Of course, Liora wouldn’t wait that long.

With her eyes still closed and the technique operating, she began to make some small adjustments.

”This way of absorbing Cosmic Energy is too inefficient. It relies entirely on one’s talent, attracting the Cosmic Energy rather than truly absorbing it. In a certain sense, it is the Cosmic Energy that’s doing all the work.”

Recalling the Devil Techniques she had comprehended and the other power systems she had practiced, Liora subtly changed the operation route of the Cosmic Energy Refinement Technique.

Immediately, a small, invisible vortex appeared on her body, with the gene representing Predation as its center.

The vortex took the initiative to swallow the energy around it.

The Cosmic Energy could not and did not resist. It poured into the vortex and then flowed into Liora’s body.

Instantly, her power began to increase once again.

Moreover, the refinement rate had nearly doubled compared to before.

But to Liora, this was still not enough!

”I’m currently only using my talent as the source of this swallowing force. For other Awakeners, this is the only thing they have at Rank 0. But for me, it’s only my weakest power.”

The moment that thought finished forming, Liora’s World of Heart descended into the outside world.

It transformed into a point of light and landed inside the rotating vortex, settling beside the Predation talent.

The vortex immediately grew larger. The Cosmic Energy rioted, pouring into her body as if she had become the center of the universe.

In an instant, the absorption efficiency had increased by more than ten times.

The strengthening of cells grew quicker, and the same was true for the transformation of her genes.

Her physical and mental strength rapidly advanced, while signs of a newborn power appeared within her body.

A few moments later...

A deafening explosion echoed. Liora’s bones creaked and trembled violently, while her skin pulsed in a strange and eerie rhythm.

It took a few moments for the process to be completed and for everything to return to normal.

When she opened her eyes again, a sharp light flashed within her pupils. For a moment, she no longer appeared to be an ordinary human, but a prehistoric beast.

Though she quickly restrained her momentum, this phenomenon was enough to cause the entire room and even the mansion to shake.

She paid no attention to the broken ceramics around her. Her entire focus remained on her body.

”Finally reached Rank 1...”, she whispered, utterly calm—neither excited nor disappointed.

Rank 1.

This was nothing for Liora, only equivalent to the strength of a Young Devil. However, the speed with which she achieved this was earth-shattering.

Nearly immersed in the rapid transformation of her body, Liora had the urge to immediately resume her practice.

But ultimately, she restrained herself.

She needed to check on something first.

With a thought, she summoned the System Panel for the very first time since her arrival in this world.

...

[True Name: Liora Veythalis Dranthera Vexira...]

[Techniques: Snake of Time [2], ??? [1]]

[Evolution Points: 4,652,610]

[Current Absorption Efficiency: 200 (Normal Devil = 1x)]

...

Another transformation.

The decrease of her base stats was expected, as was the emergence of the new [Soul] stat—a result of awakening her World of Heart.

The most important thing for Liora, however, was the appearance of the new [Talent] column, as well as the creation of a new technique.

”Just like I thought, the Gene Awakening power system appears to be extraordinary. Otherwise, my talent would not have been included in the System Panel. This shows it has great potential.”

”As for the technique...”

Liora understood that it was the technique she had just forcibly pieced together.

Though it was based on the Cosmic Energy Refinement Technique and had hardly changed, it was clear that the System regarded it as a brand-new technique.

Not only that, but a small (+) button could be seen beside it.

As long as she spent Evolution Points, she would be able to upgrade it even further.

”It’s true!”, Liora couldn’t help but exclaim.

She had already expected this, but it made her quite happy to see her suspicions confirmed.

After glancing at the panel one more time and ensuring she had missed nothing, she didn’t linger.

Without further ado, she clicked on the (+) button. Her Evolution Points decreased.

Information immediately poured into her mind as changes occurred within her body.

Nearly automatically, each of her cells appeared to have transformed into a vortex, pulsing eerily to absorb the surrounding Cosmic Energy.

At the same time, the form of her Predation talent had also been altered.

A tiny phantom emerged within the black light, and it opened its mouth, swallowing everything.
