Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 180: Hero [15] - A Click Away

Liora only cast a glance at thisteam of Knights. Then, she walked away as if nothing had happened.

But the Infernal Army soldiers, who were used to being unreasonable and easily angered, surprisingly didn’t dare to step forward and stop her.

This was because, the moment Liora glanced at them, the True Knights felt as if they were facing a humanoid beast.

Countless bloody mountains of corpses appeared behind Liora’s small silhouette, while a gigantic crimson pupil blinked in the sky, seemingly watching over them.

This was an illusion caused by Liora’s brief murderous intent. But to the True Knights facing her, this was a truly lethal attacking ability.

Before Liora had even taken a step, the eyes of the weakest among them grew hazy, and they collapsed to the ground.

Then, more and more banging sounds echoed.

Like dominoes, the True Knights of the Infernal Army, infamous throughout the Iron Armor Empire, fell to the ground, losing consciousness and falling into a coma.

Throughout this process, Liora hadn’t said anything nor taken any further action.

From start to finish, she had only cast a mere glance at them.

This scene vividly displayed the difference between True Knights and Great Knights. But most importantly, it displayed Liora’s uniqueness.

--

After her encounter with the True Knights, Liora didn’t face any other accidents on her way back to her residence.

Even though she had previously been stopped for no reason, she didn’t show much annoyance.

Instead, a look of interest appeared on her face.

Although Liora had indeed considered killing those soldiers, this didn’t mean that she was really offended by their actions.

To her, these beings were like insects.

Would a person really feel offended by the actions of a bunch of ants?

If they annoyed her, she could very easily slap them to death. But if she was in a good mood, she might as well let them live to see another day.

”The people who should be worrying about the Infernal Army are the residents of Hope City. It seems that their days of relaxation are about to be over.”, Liora thought.

In fact, the person who should be the most worried was Duchess Lobelia.

The arrival of the Infernal Army was bound to put pressure on her shoulders.

After all, she used to be the person in charge of the Empire’s defense against the beasts.

But now that the Royal Family had sent the Infernal Army, she was bound to take a step back from the leadership.

At the very least, the Commander would be on the same level as her, restricting her from doing whatever she wanted.

”But this is none of my business. As long as no one messes with me, I don’t have the time nor the willingness to involve myself in petty politics...”, Liora shook her head.

Then, her consciousness expanded, checking whether anyone had been sent to follow her.

After she made sure that there was none, her mind moved, and she quietly entered the Space Orb.

--

A few minutes later, many drops of essence were floating on top of Liora’s palm.

Without hesitation, she flicked them into her mouth and operated her technique to dissolve them into pure energy.

As this energy was split into two and integrated into her body and Life Seed, the shackles restricting her seemed to have been shattered.

A clicking sound came out of her body, and, visibly to the naked eye, her aura and momentum surged.

Even though this change only lasted for a brief moment and Liora quickly suppressed it, it was enough to signify something.

”I’ve finally reached the peak of the Great Knight rank. Thankfully, the beasts went crazy and attacked Hope City.”

”Otherwise, I would have wasted a lot of time hunting down beasts in the Ancient Beast Wilderness.”, Liora sighed, secretly thanking the mysterious mastermind for their help.

She vowed that if she happened to ever meet them, she would keep their corpse intact and would only devour their souls instead.

After spending a few moments to get used to her advancement, Liora didn’t leave the Space Orb’s demi-plane.

Instead, she summoned the System Panel, which she had not seen in quite some time.

...

Her reaching the peak of the Great Knight rank had not massively increased her Knight strength.

But it had helped her combat power undergo a massive change.

This was because reaching the peak of the Great Knight rank had allowed her Devil abilities to finally be unsealed.

From now on, apart from the differences in Base Stats and demonic energy, Liora had regained her power.

”Moreover, I’m only a single click away from regaining my full power. As long as all my base stats break through the one hundred threshold, I will become a Lesser Devil again.”, she thought.

Her arrival in this world had allowed Liora to better understand the different Devil stages.

Little Devil, Young Devil, ranked Young Devil, Lesser Devil...

Every stage was a transformation, just like Great Knights were transformed into a new ”race”.

All these stages had differences between them, not only in strength but also in their deeper, mostly hidden concepts.

”I once believed that I had reached the peak of the Young Lesser stage while at the Crucible. But even if one were to ignore my Knight rank and new abilities, my current strength is far beyond what it was at that time.”

”This is not because of the difference in combat experience, but because I now possess a deeper understanding of the different stages.”, Liora realized, while her eyes shifted towards the base stats column.

She was quite curious about what it would take to break the suppression of this world and reach the Lesser Devil stage.

Therefore, to satisfy her curiosity and better plan her next course of action, she immediately clicked on the (+) button behind the strength stat.

Immediately, a message materialized in her field of vision.

[Do you wish to consume 10,000 Evolution Points to increase your Strength? Yes/No]

Seeing this message, Liora was surprised.

The amount of Evolution Points required to enhance her Base Stats had increased yet again.
