Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 110: Necronomicon [8] - Space Orb

Only a few hours later, Liora sat alone in a room, playing with a familiar shiny golden orb.

Secretly, the events that had taken place not long ago were constantly replayed in her mind.

Her brief confrontation with the suspected True Devil was analyzed in great detail, causing her expression to change from time to time.

Sometimes, she touched her chin and looked to be deep in thought, while at other times, her eyebrows would furrow as if she were contemplating something serious.

”I’m afraid that my entanglement with the unknown Devil is far from over. Neither of us will ever compromise and choose to leave the other one alone.”, she concluded, leaning back in her chair.

Liora understood that this was not only because she had forced his split soul to die, but also because of the Devils’ very nature.

A world like this one, where there were no particularly strong beings, was enough to make every Devil—including Liora—drool in excitement.

After all, even if we were to ignore this world’s unique power system, just the large amount of souls that one could easily plunder was enough to make any Devil greedy.

Thus, how could Liora and the unknown Devil actually compromise, allowing their opponent to steal what they considered to be their own property?

”Of course, there is also another major reason why I took action without hesitation. Unlike that person, I’ve only just reached the Lesser Devil stage. Though letting him go might delay the eventual battle between the two of us, it might also allow him to find out my true state.”

”If he knew that I was just a Lesser Devil, he would immediately begin to suspect that I’ve obtained something incredible—an item or inheritance. At that time, my situation would be many times more dangerous.”

Many thoughts raced through Liora’s mind as several future scenarios were continuously constructed and analyzed.

It was only when she felt that she had accounted for almost everything that she finally pushed this matter aside and shifted her focus back to reality.

With the unknown Devil’s demise, the events of the manor and even the events concerning Baron Bloodshield had come to an end.

This meant that after expending so much effort and going through so many difficulties, Liora could finally take stock of what she had gained.

Among her gains, the most important thing in her eyes was the item she was currently holding—the core of the Holy Domain.

”Devouring pretty much all of the faith has allowed this thing to fully recover. No, not only has it recovered, but it has also undergone massive changes.”, Liora shook her head midway through that thought.

Although the core had just recovered, the connection between them made her easily understand its information, and thus, its functions.

Therefore, she immediately realized that the core was now different than when the Blasphemer wielded it.

In her impression, Blasphemer used this core and the ”Holy” City’s faith to construct another space, a Holy Domain in which his strength was significantly boosted.

But perhaps it was affected by the Devil’s faith, or it was Liora’s influence; this ability had changed slightly.

”Although this core can still be used to construct another space, it can no longer enhance its user’s strength. Moreover, the damage that the space created can withstand is significantly less than before.”, Liora analyzed as her fingers fiddled with the Holy Domain’s core.

No, with its changes, it no longer made sense to call it that.

”Let’s just call it Space Orb for now.”, Liora casually gave it a name, without spending too much thought.

Although the naming was casual and its function seemed insignificant, the Space Orb was, in fact, very valuable to Liora.

In just a short period of time, she had already thought of several uses for it, some of which could help her improve her combat power, while others could simply make her life more convenient.

Thinking of this, Liora reached out for the floating Space Orb. After grasping it tightly, she was about to put her ideas to the test.

Unfortunately, before she could do so, her movements suddenly paused. Rolling her eyes, she placed the orb aside and turned towards the door.

At first, nothing out of the ordinary happened. But only half a minute later, a faint knock echoed.

After receiving Liora’s approval, the door swung open, and Alpha stepped into the room.

While Liora was inwardly complaining about how she would always be interrupted whenever she did something important, she motioned Alpha to speak.

”Lord.”, Alpha saluted, before speaking up:

”Everything in the mansion has already been accounted for. Besides the items and objects that are only useful to mortals, I’ve also found several resources that can be used by Knights to improve their strength.”

”Among them, there are several corpses of beasts, eight Starlight Leaves, two Crimson...”

Alpha’s report continued for quite some time as she mentioned every single one of her discoveries.

It was only towards the end that she finally paused for a brief moment.

”Apart from these, I also discovered a special area hidden at the back of the manor. It is filled with a large number of Twilight Wolves.”

Hearing Alpha’s words, a tidbit of information that she had almost forgotten about emerged in Liora’s mind.

She recalled that the Baron had indeed mentioned something like that during their confrontation, but at the time, she had simply ignored it.

Liora was not unfamiliar with Twilight Wolves.

Though she had never seen them before, she had read about them during her stay in the Black Tulip mansion.

”Twilight Wolves are a race of beasts that have almost gone extinct. The reason behind their disappearance is clear and relatively common. Everything stems from the humans’ greed.”

”According to what an ancient book mentioned, the blood and flesh of Twilight Wolves can bring enormous benefits to Knights who practice techniques related to darkness. Thus, about a century ago, the hunt for them began.”

By now, Twilight Wolves could rarely be seen, mostly staying at the heartland of the beasts’ territory, seemingly afraid that coming out would result in them becoming a meal.

”Perhaps this is part of the reason why Baron Bloodshield was able to reach the peak of the True Knight rank.”, Liora realized. Of course, she knew that the main reason was that he had the secret support of the Necronomicon Sect.

Thinking of the Necronomicon Sect, Liora remembered something. She understood that her confrontation with this Sect was far from over, and this did not solely stem from the Devil’s obvious involvement with the Sect.

With that in mind, Liora glanced at Alpha—who seemed to have finished her report and looked ready to leave—and stopped her.

Taking out the corpse of the Baron that she had consciously kept, she lightly tossed it before Alpha and pointed at it.

”Try to use Life Infusion on this.”, she instructed.
