Evolution Begins With A Big Tree

Chapter 1169, The Two Supreme Principles

The gap between low-level lifeforms and high-level beings was far from as simple as it seemed.

There was, however, one word that captured the essence of this disparity, Dimension.

A term once used by a Sage of the Heavenly Oracle Clan in an attempt to explain the unfathomable chasm between the different Hierarchy of Life.

When a lifeform’s Hierarchy of Life underwent a change, it was not merely a change in strength. Their dimension would also change.

A two-dimensional being will never perceive the concept of height—like a tiny man drawn on paper. No matter how hard he struggles, even if the paper is folded, curled into a cylinder or bent into a cube… he could only move across the paper.

He would forever be two-dimensional.

And so, too, was it now when low-level lifeforms looked upon Yu Zi Yu, it was as if the two-dimensional being was gazing up at a three-dimensional being.

They could not perceive him, could not sense him. And even harder to perceive him.

And to Yu Zi Yu, these low-level lifeforms were but candle flames in a storm, he needed only raise a hand, and they would be snuffed out.

Of course, this difference was not yet truly apparent.

But one day, when Yu Zi Yu bore Principles, when he stepped into the Realm of Hegemony, the insignificance of lesser lifeforms would be unmistakable.

Hegemons, they were the rulers of galaxies.

Just by raising their hands, they could stir the Sea of Principles, shake the constellations, and obliterate all that stood before them.

In terms of raw combat power, Yu Zi Yu was indeed a level above a typical Hegemon.

However, when it came to widespread destruction, the force to unravel Heaven and Earth, the Hegemons still stood above him.

Rightly so.

Because the Realm of Hegemony was the Realm of Principle, the realm of Heaven’s Truth.

Compared to that, the Seventh Order represented the pinnacle of an individual might, and still lacked in terms of power.

Yu Zi Yu could not help but smile with anticipation, growing excited about shouldering the Principles.

And consider how terrifying his body had become, the Principles he would bear might well defy imagination.

He might even carry what he secretly hoped for all this time… the Supreme Principles.

These Principles were far above ordinary Principles.

These Principles were so potent, so all-encompassing, and so majestic, that few beings could even carry them.

Even if one forgo the fact that stepping into the domain of Supreme Principles was a chasm that not anyone could cross, even among Tier-6 Overlords, those who could carry such Principles were rarer than phoenix feathers.

In fact, one’s order in Tier-6 determined what level of Principles one could shoulder.

First and Second Order Tier-6s could only bear Lower Principles.

These Principles were weak and fragile.

Although it made it easier for one to become Hegemon, it would also restrict their cultivation. They could, at best, be Early-Stage Hegemons.

After one reached Third Order, they could carry Intermediate Principles.

And if one wanted to bear Superior Principles, they would at least have to reach Fourth Order.

As for the Supreme Principles, it was a mystery.

Some said one needed to be at the Fifth Order, some insisted it required one to achieve Sixth Order.

And Yu Zi Yu stood at the Seventh Order. For him, carrying a Supreme Principle should be within reach.

However, he was only eligible to carry them.

He still needed to comprehend them.

*Ahem…* A dry cough escaped him as he, streaking through the cosmos, snapped back to reality.

“Is it really that hard… to shoulder a Supreme Principle?” With a bitter smile, Yu Zi Yu posed the question like a curious child.

“It’s not hard…” came the reply from Anzuiel, “it’s as hard as ascending to the Heavens.

To bear a Supreme Principle… is no less difficult than achieving the Seventh Order. And in countless eras, few have ever reached such heights…”

He then paused, then added solemnly, “You could consider those who’ve attained either the Seventh Order, or bore the Supreme Principles as belonging to the same echelon… Prodigies that had never been heard of, much less witnessed… legends among legends… Each of them is capable of shaking Heaven, suppressing all races, and reshaping the course of history.”

With each sentence, Anzuiel’s voice was laced with something rare: Admiration.

Throughout the ages, he had witnessed the rise and fall of countless prodigies, as many as the stars in the universe.

However, among them, those who had achieved Seventh Order in Physical Evolution, or those who had shouldered a Supreme Principle, he could count them on a single hand.

One was a monstrous freak of the physical path, and the other was a peerless genius born for the Principle itself.

Two extremes, yet each stood at the summit of cultivation, unrivaled in their respective domains.

“En…” After a moment of silence, Yu Zi Yu finally muttered meekly, “Are you… complimenting me?”

“Complimenting you?” Anzuiel blinked, then suddenly, as though struck by lightning, realized. The little brat before him…Wasn’t he precisely one of those freaks? A monster who had already reached the Seventh Order!

If he still had a body, he might’ve spat out a mouthful of blood right then and there.

Suppressing the twitch at the corner of his eye, Anzuiel coughed and swiftly changed the subject, “You… You’ve already reached the Seventh Order. Stop dreaming about carrying a Supreme Principle. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Instead of chasing something so unreachable, why not focus on tempering your body further? Push toward perfecting the Seventh Order, and become the strongest underneath the Eternals…”

…

Hearing this, his expression turned increasingly odd.

[I can’t have the cake and eat it too? That might not necessarily be the case!]

As a matter of fact, he had already brushed against the threshold of the Supreme Principles, and that too not one, but two.

One was the Principle of Spacetime, the fusion of Time and Space.

His Timeless Divine Tree had already touched the threshold of the Principle of Time, and even had condensed Marks of Principle: the Gears of Time.

And his Void Elf Form had touched upon the threshold of the Principle of Space, condensing another Marks of Principle, the Rhombic Crystals.

If he could fuse the two perfectly, then the Supreme Principle of Spacetime might not just be a fantasy—it could become a reality.

And the second… The second Supreme Principle he had begun to sense was the Principle of Infinity.

It was a terrifying, dreadful Principle beyond comprehension.

Limitless growth, limitless boost in energy… until every shackle in existence was broken.

That was the Principle of Infinity.

And his Purple Dragon Form, coiled in the Void Space, had already begun to glimpse its edges.

Now, whenever Yu Zi Yu shifted his consciousness into that form, he would feel it.

An indescribable vastness.

A crushing pressure.

A presence so immense it suffocated the Soul.

Even he, Yu Zi Yu, could barely endure it.

He felt as though a world hung over his head. It was immense, unknowable, unspeakably terrifying.

That, he realized… was the Principle of Infinity.

The most boundless, the most dreadful, among the Supreme Principles.

And the reason Yu Zi Yu could even glimpse its threshold was he had left his Purple Dragon Form drifting in the deepest Void Space, and had diverted a bit of his Consciousness to silently comprehend it.

This comprehension had been going on for almost a hundred years.

And now, he could sense something within that body had begun to change.

As if the shackles that bound it had begun to snap. Its strength growing each moment.

However, that power was beyond his control.

He could feel it. It was something about that strength was not meant for him to touch.

And it was for this very reason that Yu Zi Yu, to this day, had never once fully taken control of his Purple Dragon Form.

He only ever siphoned its power through One Qi Transforms into Three Pure Ones.
