Chapter 387 Motherboard

Beep!

”The Knights stomped the Arrows with a staggering 50-point difference! Final score: 143 to 93!”

”Wow! Ross Oakley is living up to the hype!”

”He scored 115 points in his first NBA game! What the f—” Fans and commentators alike buzzed with excitement.

The arena was still electric from the game, and everyone was struggling to process what they had just witnessed.

Ross Oakley, the teenage sensation, had delivered a performance for the ages.

He had been nothing short of perfection, sinking every shot with surgical precision. Not a single miss. It was as though the laws of basketball didn’t apply to him.

Watching him play felt surreal, a masterful display of skill that left spectators questioning if what they had seen was even real.

As the post-game festivities unfolded, Ross found himself in the spotlight during his first-ever NBA post-game interview.

The press room was packed, cameras flashing, and journalists clamoring for answers.

”Congratulations on the win, Ross!” one sports journalist began.

”Everyone’s still in shock over your performance. You were incredible to watch. I just have to ask—are you ever going to miss a shot?”

Ross chuckled, his confidence evident but not overbearing.

”Thank you. Of course, I can miss. No one is infallible. I doubt I’ll keep a perfect scoring record once the Finals are done,” he replied, his tone calm and measured.

”The Finals?” another journalist interjected, eyebrows raised.

”Isn’t it a little arrogant to be thinking that far ahead, Ross? Your team is only in the Play-In Tournament right now. It’s not even guaranteed that you’ll make it to the playoffs.”

Ross leaned back slightly, his gaze steady and unshaken.

”I don’t think it’s arrogance,” he said evenly.

”I’m just confident in what I can do. If I’m healthy, I’ll dominate anyone on the court. No one can guard me. Even if they put five men on me, I can score wherever and whenever I want. That’s not arrogance—it’s just a fact.”

His words hung in the air, bold and unapologetic. While some in the room admired his self-assuredness, others exchanged skeptical glances.

Doubts lingered—after all, this was only his first NBA game.

Still, the buzz around Ross Oakley continued to grow.

Whether or not people believed his words, one thing was clear: the basketball world was witnessing the rise of something extraordinary.

And while many doubted him now, Ross seemed more than ready to silence every critic one game at a time.

Several games later, the Parkland Knights emerged victorious, dominating their way into the playoffs.

Ross Oakley’s incredible performance had become the talk of the basketball world.

His flawless streak—having yet to miss a single shot during the Play-In Tournament—elevated his already soaring popularity to new heights.

Fans, commentators, and analysts couldn’t stop speculating about whether Ross’s perfection would hold through the playoffs.

After the final game of the Play-In, the Knights’ locker room was a scene of celebration and relief.

But as Ross exited the court, surrounded by his wives and team staff, an extraordinarily beautiful journalist approached him with a radiant smile.

She carried herself with the poise of someone used to getting what she wanted.

”Ross, can I have an exclusive interview with you? I promise I’ll make it worth your while,” she said, her voice smooth and alluring.

The way she leaned slightly forward and maintained unwavering eye contact made her intentions clear—this wasn’t just about journalism.

Ross barely glanced at her before replying, ”Sorry, but I’m kinda busy right now.” His tone was calm but dismissive, and without another word or a second look, he walked away, his focus already elsewhere.

The journalist stood frozen for a moment, stunned that she had been so easily brushed off.

Ross’s wives, who were following closely behind, noticed the exchange.

One of them—Natalie, known for her sharp tongue and keen insight—paused and turned back to the journalist.

”Are you a virgin?” Natalie asked bluntly, her tone neutral but her question sharp enough to slice through the journalist’s confidence.

The journalist blinked, unsure if she had heard correctly.

”What kind of question is that?” she asked, trying to keep her composure.

But Natalie’s unflinching gaze made her rethink dismissing the question as a joke.

Reluctantly, she replied, ”Of course not. There aren’t any virgins past the age of 20 in this day and age.”

Natalie gave a slight nod, then asked, ”Are you married?”

”No,” the journalist replied, her confusion growing.

”Are you faithful to your boyfriend?” Natalie’s third question was delivered with calm precision, but it carried an air of judgment that made the journalist hesitate.

She faltered for a moment before shrugging.

”I don’t know. I don’t think so,” she admitted, her voice uncertain.

Natalie gave a faint, knowing smile.

”I see now why Ross doesn’t even glance your way,” she said.

”You lack the things that interest him. Have a good day.” Without another word, she turned on her heel and rejoined the group of wives following Ross.

The journalist stood there, dumbfounded, as she watched them walk away.

She replayed the conversation in her mind, trying to make sense of what had just happened.

Ross’s wives, meanwhile, continued walking with calm smiles on their faces.

Among themselves, they had long discussed and understood what Ross valued in a woman.

Physical beauty alone wasn’t enough to hold his attention; he sought integrity, loyalty, and strength of character—qualities that set his wives apart from the crowd.

Above all, he sought excitement and the thrill of the chase.

To them, it was painfully obvious why the journalist hadn’t even warranted a second look.

”She really thought her looks would get her somewhere,” Natalie murmured quietly to the others as they caught up with Ross.

”She’s not the first and won’t be the last,” another wife replied with a chuckle.

Ross, overhearing the conversation, glanced over his shoulder with a small smirk.

”What’s so funny back there?”

”Nothing, darling,” Natalie replied with a teasing smile.

Ross shook his head, amused, and continued walking. His wives exchanged knowing looks.

They were confident in their bond with Ross, knowing that no matter how many people tried to catch his eye, none could match what they shared with him.

Meanwhile, the journalist remained behind, still rooted in place, trying to understand why she had failed to even scratch the surface of Ross Oakley’s attention.
