Eternal Thief

Just like that, two entire fortnights passed, and the waiting had become unbearable as countless cultivators stood ready across the four battlefronts established by the Evernight Council.

The First Battlefront, the Second Battlefront, the Third Battlefront, the Fourth Battlefront, and at the very center of everything, surrounding the colossal Realmbreaker Conquest Ark, the largest military encampment in the entire Undead Cradle had taken shape.

Supply camps stretched endlessly, war fortresses towered over the wastelands, defensive formations pulsed day and night, communication arrays connected every battlefield, and millions of troops stood prepared.

Even the trial participants had long since abandoned their earlier excitement, no one talked about contribution points anymore, and about rankings.

Because these days they had learned many things, and most importantly, everyone understood one thing: the moment the Undead Boundary fell, the real trial and war would begin.

At this moment, countless eyes were fixed upon the horizon, upon the barrier which was also a prison for the Corpse Clan and for them, the final obstacle!

The Undead Boundary, unlike before, when it had appeared as an invisible force only vaguely sensed, had now completely solidified.

It was a colossal dome, like a glass-like heaven, as a translucent wall stretching beyond sight, with ancient gray light flowing beneath its surface, while endless cracks spread throughout its structure like veins.

Every passing day made those cracks larger, and every passing hour made the barrier weaker. It looked less like an invincible wall now and more like a giant piece of glass on the verge of shattering.

Everyone knew its end was near!

---

Far above the battlefield, two figures stood at the boundary, and the atmosphere around them was completely different from that of the rest of the world.

Everything was silent, and still as if reality itself dared not move in their presence.

The childlike figure of the Evernight Demon King stood calmly with her hands behind her back. A faint smile rested upon her lips; a smile filled with malice, anticipation, and cruel amusement.

Beside her stood the Evernight Fiend King. Unlike her calm demeanor, he was radiating violence, and terrifying killing intent leaked from his body like a tidal wave.

The surrounding space cracked continuously; the nearby section of the Undead Boundary trembled at his mere presence, ripples spreading across its surface as if prey sensed a predator’s approach.

The Evernight Demon King’s white eyes flickered, and countless runes flowed through them. After observing for several moments, she finally smiled.

”I think this ought to do it now.” Her voice carried certainty. ”You can begin any time you want.”

The Evernight Fiend King’s eyes instantly lit up as his lips curved savagely, ”Finally. Now I can destroy this damn barrier.”

The Evernight Demon King tilted her head slightly as her smile widened, ”You should probably not hold back anything. Despite weakening, it’s still quite powerful.”

After a pause, she added softly, ”And I don’t want Eldest Senior Brother to be humiliated again.”

Instantly, the Evernight Fiend King’s expression darkened at the memory of humiliation, and failure surfaced. The memory of being stopped by this exact barrier, being denied, and refusing his power.

A dangerous light ignited within his eyes, the anger transformed instantly into battle intent, then killing intent, and finally into power.

”Hmph.” He snorted coldly, ”Then I suppose...I’d better give those little brats a show.”

The very next moment,

”BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!”

The heavens exploded as a terrifying purple inferno erupted from the Evernight Fiend King’s body. The flames spread across the sky like an ocean, and the surrounding space immediately began melting as the laws themselves seemed to distort.

The Evernight Demon King’s smile disappeared slightly, and for the first time, even she appeared impressed.

’I guess he’s really serious.’ Her eyes narrowed for within them flashed recognition, ’The Evernight Fiend King’s greatest treasure. His Growth-Type Spirit Abyssal Fire. Destructive Terror Fire of Quasi-Abyssal Grade-9. Just one step away from becoming a true Abyssal Grade-9 Spirit Abyssal Fire.

’A Spirit Abyssal Fire powerful enough to make even Abyssal Kings covet it. But unfortunately, a true Grade-9 Spirit Abyssal Fire had not appeared within the Abyssal Plains for countless years.

’No one possessed one. No one had even found one, and even if someone somehow discovered one...they wouldn’t survive long enough to tell anyone.’

The Evernight Demon King sighed inwardly, ’What a pity. I really like to see that legendary spirit abyss fire of abyssal grade-9!’

The Destructive Terror Fire possessed an extremely terrifying characteristic filled with destruction, and not ordinary destruction at that, but absolute destruction, for anything touched by it would rapidly lose stability, whether it’s Qi, Laws, or Souls.

Even formations, everything deteriorated, everything collapsed, and eventually everything died. Its existence was the embodiment of entropy itself. A flame born solely to destroy.

At this moment, an ethereal mark suddenly appeared between the Evernight Fiend King’s brows. It was a spear mark.

But the next moment, a colossal phantom manifested behind him. A gigantic spear silhouette stretching into the heavens, filled with an ancient, tyrannical aura of invincibility, as if it could pierce worlds apart.

Thereafter, a weapon appeared in his hand: a halberd. A dark-golden halberd forged entirely from burning flames, with countless infernal runes covering its surface.

Its blade emitted endless killing intent, shattering the surrounding space as if it were a true Abyssal Grade-9 Spirit Treasure. The weapon that accompanied the Evernight Fiend King throughout countless wars.

The moment it appeared...

”BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!”

Terrifying spear intent erupted and swept across the battlefield, the four battlefronts, the supply camps, the Realmbreaker Conquest Ark, and the entire Undead Cradle.

Everyone felt it, every participant, Abyssal Lord, Abyssal Grand Lord, and even the Evernight Dukes. All of them instinctively raised their heads; silence followed, as the Evernight Dukes recognized that spear’s intent.

There was only one existence within the Evernight Council capable of releasing such a terrifying weapon intent.

The Evernight Fiend King, and this could only mean one thing. He was personally acting!

---

At the First Battlefront.

Dread Duchess slowly stood, and her expression became solemn.

”He intends to end it in one strike...”

---

At the Main Battlefield.

Midnight Duke’s pupils contracted, ”So, he is using that taboo spell...”

---

Not far away.

The Evernight Demon King watched quietly.

Thereafter, the Evernight Fiend King moved as he raised the halberd, and the Destructive Terror Fire erupted before the spear phantom behind him roared.

Countless laws gathered, endless destruction condensed, and then a cold voice echoed across heaven and earth.

”Taboo Spell.”

The world froze for a moment...

”World-Piercing Fiend Annihilation!”
