Dragon Monarch System

Location - Main Continent

Exact Location - Celestial Dragon Empire

”Is this the place?” Asked a handsome young man wearing dirty old clothes. The one he questioned was a young lady who hid herself behind a black robe and a hood.

”Even I am not sure. But if this isn’t the location, then we won’t be able to find Grandpa at all.” They had worked for almost six and a half years in the shadows to find the exact location. If this wasn’t the place where her Grandpa wasn’t being held, then even she didn’t know what she would do next. Right now, all of their hope depended on freeing her Grandpa.

Taking out a golden key that they had stolen from the two guards who were guarding this place, she inserted the key inside the Platinum Lock.

The lock did not open. Even with the key inside, nothing happened.

Seeing this, both of them looked at each other. Both of them appeared panicked seeing this.

Bree then slapped her forehead as if she remembered something.

”The lock also needs a bit of one of the guard’s Mana.” So, just having the golden Key wasn’t enough.

”Let me help!” Fortunately, they had not killed both guards yet. One of them was still alive and was tied to a tree.

”Fortunately, I did not kill him; otherwise, we would have been in deep trouble.” The Boleyn family’s heir was planning to interrogate the guard to get more information out before permanently shutting him.

Even though the guard protested, a simple threat to kill his family and a promise to spare him was enough to get the job done.

Soon, the two metal doors parted. Bree pushed the two heavy doors inside to make space for them to get inside. T#ex!t! ac.q%u!ired# fro*m M+|-V!|LE$MP&YR+.

”Let’s hurry! Who knows what might happen if we stay in a sensitive place like this for too long?” Saying that, Mateo walked past Bree and was the first one to go inside.

Bree just stared at Mateo from start to finish and then shook her head.

’This guy is scared.’

”This is why they say don’t believe in rumours.” Mateo pretended not to hear what she said and instead asked.

”What did you say?”

”I said, I am starting to think that you are not the right man for this mission.” There was no hint of mercy in her voice. And this was their first meeting. She wasn’t polite with her words. Bree was bold and direct and said whatever came to her mind.

”This is a very high-stakes mission. One failure and we are dead.”

”Hey! I am not scared. This is called being cautious.”

He then continued in a righteous tone as they continued walking deeper through the narrow tunnel. ”Staying Cautious is essential for long-term survival.” Bree rolled her eyes and said nothing. She did not want to waste her energy arguing with the guy.

This place originally was a tunnel that was later converted into a secret prison to hold Prisoners.

After walking for 5 minutes, they reached the deepest part of the Tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, there was an old man inside a cell.

There was a small bed and other essential items inside the cell.

There was also a Collar on his neck that suppressed the Old man’s cultivation.

He was forced to wear an old and torn white prison outfit.

Seeing the state that her Grandpa was in, her heart boiled in anger.

The old man was lying on his bed. But feeling that he had visitors, he opened his eyes only to find two familiar faces.

”My Granddaughter, you have changed.” That one small sentence seems to carry a great deal of weight. His eyes seem to say thousands of words.

Finally, after researching for her grandfather for almost 7 years, they had finally reunited. Even the strong Bree felt emotional.

The old man turned to the handsome young man in a dirty and torn outfit. It looked like this young man was in a battle before coming to this place.

”You’re Mateo of the Boleyn Family.” Meteo hadn’t changed at all. He still looked the same. If anything, the Heir of the Boleyn family was now more powerful. In the last 5 to 6 years, his cultivation has really grown.

”It is an honour to see you again, My Lord.”

”Please stop with the formalities. Now is not the time.” With his strength, he easily broke the chains and locks that held Butler Alfred inside the cage.

Then he broke the chains on his wrist and ankles.

After years of staying in this place, he had lost half of his weight and had become really skinny. He now looked weak and fragile.

But despite that, there was no denying that he was a handsome man. He had long white hair that reached his lower back, which he had tied into a bun. He had a long, grey beard. It seems years of being kept in this place caused his body to gain extra wrinkles that he previously didn’t have.

Butler Alfred was 5 feet 10 inches tall. At his peak, he was a powerful 6th-order cultivator.

As soon as he got out, Bree couldn’t control herself. Both of them hugged each other and stayed like that for a few seconds.

For Bree, these last few years have been really difficult. Even back then when Grandpa was sent to Prison, her parents did not allow her to return home as they the atmosphere in the Capital was rapidly changing.

”Grandpa, the situation of the empire has gotten worse. The Bastard sent Mom and Dad and the rest of our family to work in the mines as soon as he officially became the Emperor.” Bree sounded very helpless.

The only reason that she was spared is that she, at that time, was studying in another Empire and was in a different part of the continent.

The location of the mine was hidden from the public, and she had to spend months to get any information on her family’s location. She had bribed countless officials just to know the location.

Once she got the location of our family, she was secretly able to exchange some letters.

As for sneaking into the mine to rescue her family or just meeting them, due to the tight security, it was impossible. Even exchanging letters came with numerous risks.

Her Father decided that she would find Grandpa.

As the most trusted and one of the closest servants of the previous Royal family and the butler of the previous emperor, surely, Alfred would have some idea as to what action they should take.

”As soon as he officially became the emperor, he began targeting the loyal supporters of the previous emperor.” This time, Meteo spoke. In this matter, even he and his family felt very helpless.

”This also included our family.”

”Those who resisted and refused to submit or bow down were removed from power and immediately replaced by his own men. In the end, some were even killed under false allegations, and most were sent to the underground mines.”

”Seeing this, the rest had no choice but to switch sides.” This is also how their family survived, but the crisis wasn’t over yet.

Alfred didn’t look too surprised. He had expected something like this to happen.

Back then, he had tried to warn His Majesty, but they did not listen. To this day, the gradual change in the behaviour of His Majesty and the Empress left him wondering if this change was natural or if someone was really behind it. And as time passed, he was leaning more towards the latter option.

”Even after switching sides and showing loyalty, he kept the old, previous loyal noble families of the previous Emperor under strict watch, and his men watched every action. It was like he was testing and waiting to see if the remaining loyal nobles had really switched sides or if they were just pretending.”

”Or maybe he is waiting for us to make some kind of mistake. Even the tiniest mistake would allow him to strike and remove us from power.”

”To show his loyalty, Dad used me as bait.” It was a smoke screen to mislead the enemy and create an opportunity for the successor of the Duke to get out of the public eye and work with the granddaughter of the former Butler to find the old Butler, Alfred.

So the smokescreen story was,

Mateo was still a loyal supporter of the old regime and did not like the way of the new Emperor.

And his Father was in favour of the New Emperor and was willing to show full support.

Upon learning that his Son was against the New Emperor, the Duke tried to punish him. This was a cover. So in a battle, Meteo killed almost eight guards and injured 20 more to escape in the middle of the night.

This was a cover to eliminate some of the Emperor’s watchdogs. The Emperor had eyes on each noble, and it was necessary to use a smokescreen to eliminate them. Of course, if all of the Emperor’s men were killed, then it would become too suspicious, so Mateo only killed 1/3rd.

While walking the tunnel towards the Entrance, Alfred learned everything.

”So it was a plan for you to get out of everyone’s sight to find my Granddaughter.” Both Bree and Mateo nodded their heads. Bree had written a secret letter to the Duke, asking for his help to find where the old Butler was being held on false charges.

”Grandpa, what should we do?” Bree asked in a low tone.

Right now, they needed a lead.

The Duke had sent his son here, hoping that the old butler could offer some kind of solution. As this situation was too suffocating, some, like the Old Butler, many began to feel that there was something behind the scenes controlling and changing everything.

”It’s simple, actually!”

”We have to bring the exiled Prince Back.”

”Only his return could change everything back to normal.”
