Chapter 308: Chapter 307: Would You Like Some Rabbit?

“Welcome…”

Upon hearing this gentle and soft voice, Fang Zheng lifted his head and looked at the store clerk in front of him. She appeared to be a girl of about thirteen or fourteen years old, with pale blue hair that reached her waist. She was dressed in a dark blue uniform on the upper body and a black skirt on the lower body. Although she said “Welcome,” her face was expressionless.

Not only that, but what was that white, round, cotton-candy-like thing on the girl’s head?

“Hello, please give me a cup of cappuccino and… a cake set.”

“Okay, please wait.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s order, the girl nodded and quickly returned to the counter to start preparing. Meanwhile, Fang Zheng casually found a table to sit at and started observing. To be honest, when he was in his own world, Fang Zheng had never really had coffee in a café. He mostly bought a lot of instant coffee from the supermarket and just mixed it with boiling water. To Fang Zheng, this type of coffee was really simple and convenient, since he wasn’t used to the kind where you make a cup of black coffee and then add sugar and milk.

The girl, however, seemed quite serious as Fang Zheng watched her grind the coffee beans meticulously, then take out a few items that, to Fang Zheng, looked similar to the alchemy tools used by Nanali. She started to light a fire to heat them up and then slowly stirred and shook them. The whole process looked very pleasing to the eye and was quite interesting to watch.

“Please enjoy.”

It didn’t take long for the girl to place the brewed coffee and a small piece of cake in front of Fang Zheng, then she spoke softly. After that, she lifted the tray to cover her mouth, carefully stepped back, and returned behind the counter.

She was just like a small animal.

Watching the girl’s series of actions, Fang Zheng just shrugged his shoulders, then picked up the cup and tasted the coffee.

“… Hmm, it tastes good.”

Fang Zheng was surprised by the rich flavor of the coffee in his mouth. To be honest, he had never felt there was any difference between manually brewed coffee and instant coffee. But now, having tasted it for real, Fang Zheng finally understood why, despite the availability of ten-yuan bags of instant coffee in supermarkets, people were still willing to spend a lot of money and time to savor coffee in a café.

It was a very unique feeling that was hard to describe in words. If he had to say, the instant coffee made Fang Zheng feel like it was ice cream—simply providing a taste-based relaxation. But the flavor of this cappuccino seemed to reach deep into one’s soul, not only offering a delightful taste but also significantly invigorating one’s spirit.

It seems these five hundred furniture coins were well spent.

Fang Zheng then took a bite of the cake next to him, its sweetness and a hint of chocolate’s distinct bitterness complementing the coffee quite perfectly.

What a pleasure indeed…

After all the hustle in the Main World, he could finally enjoy the peaceful life he remembered here, which also made Fang Zheng relax.

Indeed, it was the right decision to come all this way to build his own home here.

“Ding-dong-ding…”

As Fang Zheng was reflecting, the doorbell rang again; at the same time, the girl came running back to the front.

“Welcome li…”

But before the girl could finish her greeting, she inadvertently paused.

“Ah, Mr. Fang Zheng, you’re indeed here!”

“You are here too?”

Upon hearing Kuliya’s voice, Fang Zheng turned his head and glanced at the door, seeing Nymph, Tilia, Black Katie, Nanali, and Kuliya had all entered the shop. Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Kuliya also proudly raised her finger.

“Yes, after everyone packed up, we were looking for Mr. Fang Zheng, and Miss Nymph said you were here, so we came to see… What is this place, a restaurant?”

“This is a coffeehouse, though there are no other customers right now, let’s keep our voices down,” Fang Zheng replied.

“Coffee?”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s reply, Nanali and Kuliya were momentarily stunned.

“What is coffee?”

“Oh, right… You don’t have this in your world…”

Hearing Nanali’s curious inquiry, Fang Zheng slapped his forehead, then remembered that for some reason, the Main World did not have coffee, so these two had never tasted this beverage.

“A very delicious drink that can energize you well, and it tastes good, too. You should try it as well; please give them each a cup of coffee.” frёeweɓηovel_coɱ

“Ah, okay, please wait a moment.”

Facing so many guests, the girl was clearly flustered. After hearing Mr. Fang Zheng speak, she respectfully bowed to everyone, then hurried back behind the counter and began to prepare coffee again. Meanwhile, the guests casually found spots to sit down around Mr. Fang Zheng.

“I didn’t expect the café Elder Brother found to be quite nice, it feels very reassuring,”

Tilia squinted her eyes, carefully surveying the surroundings while feeling rather impressed. In the World of Shana, she had visited countless cafés like this one while roaming and playing with Fang Zheng, so she had some understanding of such places.

Miss Nymph and Black Katie didn’t say anything; they just sat quietly, curiously examining the decorations. However, Nanali was all shocks and gasps, especially when she saw the girl pick up a siphon to start making coffee, she even grabbed Kuliya and screamed.

“Kuliya, look, look, is that Alchemy? Could it be that this drink is made using Alchemy?”

“You don’t need to get that excited, Nanali,”

Kuliya replied with a helpless roll of her eyes at Nanali’s exaggerated reaction. Standing up, Nanali walked over to the counter, curiously watching the girl making coffee, and then asked,

“Excuse me, are you an Alchemist?”

“Alchemy… Alchemist?”

Facing Nanali’s question, the coffee-making girl was visibly surprised.

“No, I’m just a barista…”

“Barista?”

Upon hearing the girl’s reply, Nanali appeared perplexed, but she quickly proceeded to introduce herself to the girl.

“My name is Nanali, what’s your name?”

“I’m Satono, Kaze Nono…”

“What a weird name…”

“Uh…”

Faced with Nanali’s comment, the girl named Satono wore a face unsure of how to respond. Yet, Nanali seemed completely oblivious to the bluntness of her own remark and quickly asked another question.

“So, what effects does this coffee have?”

“Eff… effects?”

“Yes, it must be some kind of potion, right? Is it for healing? Or does it boost magic power?”

“This… this…”

A at loss with Nanali’s offbeat questions, Satono hesitated for a while before she finally spoke.

“This… coffee can calm the spirit and energize the mind…”

“So, it’s a Psychic System potion? Are there any side effects?”

“This…”

“What are you even talking about here!”

At this point, unable to stand it any longer, Kuliya finally pulled Nanali back and swiftly knocked her on the head.

“Sorry, she didn’t mean to bother you, apologies… Hurry back and sit down, Nanali, what kind of behavior is this? Can’t you see you’ve completely frazzled that girl?”

“Ah, I didn’t notice…”

“Phew…”

Watching Nanali being led away by Kuliya, the girl named Satono finally breathed a sigh of relief and refocused on the coffee in front of her. However, she couldn’t help but lift her head and look at this group of young girls who had suddenly shown up at her café. To Satono, these girls not only dressed oddly but their mannerisms also seemed quite different from those of the usual customers.

What a bunch of odd people…
