Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The Return of the Wolf Pack.

Editor: Henyee Translations

This lynx weighed a good fifty kilograms.

Su Lin couldn’t finish it in one meal, having eaten only about seven or eight kilograms before he could eat no more.

Consuming this lynx meat provided him with nearly twenty Evolution Points.

He had taken another small step towards his next level up and evolution.

The meat of the Arctic reindeer, after being left out overnight, had become extremely stiff.

Wolf Sister could hardly bite into it.

After struggling to gnaw at the carcass of the Arctic reindeer for a long time, she still couldn’t bite off a single piece.

Unable to help it, she let out a few pitiful wolf howls.

Seeing this scene, Su Lin had no choice but to reluctantly stand up,

tear off a few pieces of the Arctic reindeer meat, and bite them into small chunks before tossing them to Wolf Sister.

After all, Wolf Sister was now blood-related family, and he couldn’t just watch her go hungry.

And Wolf Sister was indeed happily jumping around as she ate the meat that Su Lin threw to her.

This made the lone orphan wolf watching on the side, its mouth watering, very envious.

As for Grey White Little Wolf, it lay on the ground very sensibly, without moving an inch.

After Su Lin had torn off enough meat for Wolf Sister, he went out of the cave to patrol the surroundings.

The blizzard outside had eased a bit, but it was still ice cold and bone-chilling.

“The harsh climate causes damage, Vitality Value -5!”

“The harsh climate causes the host’s Physical Strength consumption to double, please be mindful to conserve strength.”

The prompts in his ear also made Su Lin quickly return to the cave after his patrol.

Upon returning, the energetic lone orphan wolf also hopped and jumped to the entrance of the cave.

But soon, a strong gust of wind blew in, flipping its small wolf body over and rolling it back into the cave.

“Awoo!”

The undaunted lone orphan wolf began to struggle repeatedly against the cold wind at the entrance.

Su Lin watched for a moment but said nothing.

After all, a Wolf Clan pup’s boundless energy had to be vented somewhere.

Later, seeing that Cousin had started to take on sentry duties, he found a wind-shielded rock to sleep against.

Being reborn into the Wolf Clan was not as colorful as human life; every day was just as dull and boring.

But on the plus side, he was free from the pressures of daily life, learning, work, and family trivialities.

…

Time flew by, and seven days passed.

Throughout these seven days, the storm came and went intermittently, only completely stopping today.

Now, inside the cave, Su Lin had finished eating the lynx.

During these days, the lynx had provided him with more than twenty Evolution Points.

Clearly, carnivorous animals granted fewer deductions to Evolution Points compared to herbivorous animals.

Even towards the end, the lynx meat still provided Su Lin with 0.2 Evolution Points.

Besides,

he had almost finished eating the meat of the Arctic reindeer.

Especially the lone orphan wolf, who had let loose eating over the past few days, consuming as much as a fully-grown Arctic Wolf.

But it must be said, the growth rate of the lone orphan wolf was extremely fast.

Its body size was now even larger than Cousin’s.

Furthermore, not sure if it was because of being well-fed, Su Lin noticed some other changes in the lone orphan wolf over these days.

The gray fur on its body became darker,

and its originally skinny limbs grew stronger,

especially its Wolf Claws, which, like felines, could be retracted into their thick fur but were very flexible.

Besides that, the lone orphan wolf’s resistance to blows, Endurance, Physical Strength, and Attack Power were all much higher than those of the Wolf Clan of the same size.

Now, Cousin was no match for the lone orphan wolf anymore.

Su Lin looked at the lone orphan wolf.

The Numerical Attributes of the lone orphan wolf once again appeared before his eyes.

Species: Arctic Wolf (Variant Species)

Level: Level 2.

Qi-Blood: 265.

Endurance: 27.

Strength: 28.

Defense: 25.

Speed: 23.

In just a few days, the attributes of the lone little wolf had significantly enhanced.

And behind the species item, there was an additional note.

“Hm? Variant species?”

Su Lin stared at the lone little wolf, his blue wolf eyes shimmering with curiosity.

He had checked the lone little wolf’s attributes before.

He was certain that the term “variant species” had not been there.

It must have been the plentiful food in recent days that helped it to unlock its own potential.

It was most likely the reason for the changes that had occurred to the lone little wolf these days.

“Awooo.”

At that moment, as Su Lin approached, the lone little wolf hurriedly yelped obediently and submissively.

Su Lin was now the boss of the cave,

Even when Wolf Dad and Mom returned, in the heart of the lone little wolf, Su Lin was still the boss.

Because when Su Lin was displeased with it, he would truly punish it.

And a single swipe of his paw, even without using much force, would send it reeling in confusion.

In the world view of the Wolf Clan, the strong were revered.

Su Lin was so powerful that, even though he often disciplined it, the little wolf still acknowledged him as the boss.

Of course, the most important reason was that it was only with Su Lin these days that it truly had its fill.

“Awooo!”

The little wolf yelped softly and even licked the fur on Su Lin’s leg.

Seeing Su Lin still staring at it, it quickly rolled over to expose its belly as the ultimate gesture of affection and to curry favor.

To expose the belly within the Wolf Clan was almost equivalent to absolute trust and intimacy.

The belly was the softest and most vulnerable part of a wolf.

As such, seeing the little wolf’s pleasing behavior, Su Lin simply howled softly and extended his paw to pat its head again.

Although the little wolf had unlocked its potential and evolved into a variant species,

Its personality had barely changed.

And the little wolf, now stronger as a variant species, might just be able to help him with something in the future.

He decided to fully take the little wolf under his wing as his subordinate.

“Awooo!”

At the low howl from Su Lin, the lone little wolf rolled back onto its feet.

Its body curled up, with its tail tucked between its hind legs, whimpering softly in submission.

The extremely obedient little wolf pleased Su Lin immensely.

Additionally, he also took the opportunity to give the little wolf a new moniker.

Since the little lone wolf was basically an Arctic wolf with grey fur, and its fur was now even darker grey,

He called it Xiao Hui.

Of course, this moniker was known only to Su Lin.

With the little brain power of the Wolf Clan that the lone little wolf had, it still couldn’t comprehend the concept of names and monikers.

Now, having taken the lone little wolf as his underling,

Su Lin walked out of the cave and leaped onto a boulder at the entrance.

His pure white fur glistened brilliantly under the long-missed sunshine over the Arctic Continent.

As of now, Su Lin’s size had already matched that of a typical adult Arctic wolf.

And in terms of strength, he was far superior to the ordinary Arctic wolf.

He stood high and surveyed, his gaze sweeping over the tranquil and serene Arctic Continent after the snowstorm.

Deep down, he could tell that the blizzard had completely stopped.

Wolf Dad and Mom should be returning soon as well.

As Su Lin’s thoughts were drifting,

The sight of a well-organized wolf pack, carrying ample food and slowly approaching from the distant white expanse, appeared in his high vantage point.

“Awooo!”

Seeing this group of figures, Su Lin couldn’t help but howl loudly.

Soon after, a series of responsive howls rang out from afar!

“Awooo!”

…

The resonant and lingering howls echoed through the vast expanse of the Arctic Continent.
