Chapter 365: Alexandra’s Misery

The video opened with her face filling the screen.

Alexandra.

”I’ve been raped by Maximilian Vice.”

Her expression was fragile, devastated, a woman whose soul had been used up and discarded. Her eyes were swollen red. Her hands clutched a small handkerchief, already damp from tears.

She looked into the camera with trembling lips.

”Truthfully, I feel that saying I was raped does not even begin to tell the truth of what I went through. Honestly, I WISH that being raped was the end of the story.” Her voice broke, tearing apart as fresh tears streamed down her cheeks. ”But it’s not. My entire life has been ruined by Maximilian Vice, the CEO of ChronosX.”

She buried her face in the handkerchief for a moment, trying to stifle her sobs. But the tears kept coming, and she forced herself to keep speaking.

”When the mana apocalypse broke out, no one knew what to do. Humans were awakening left and right. People were gaining powers and new futures that were beyond belief. Men and women working dead-end jobs suddenly had their lives turned around. It was chaos, but it was hope. Back then, I was only ten years old. That was when a man approached my parents. He said he had deep connections with the government and that they were researching the mana apocalypse. He told them he was starting an academy for promising youths, and that if they enrolled me, I would have a future as an awakened. All they had to do was agree to a contract, a tuition fee. It was nothing, he said. Once I awakened, I would earn enough to repay him in a month.”

She wiped her eyes again, her voice trembling.

”It was all lies. Now we know well that no amount of training and preparation can make a person awaken. Awakening is fate. But he made my parents believe him back when everyone dreamed that in the next moment, they would miraculously awaken. So they signed a contract with him.”

”That man’s name was Maximilian Vice. I grew up in his academy, believing in his promise. And when the truth finally came to light, when his lies collapsed and our hope turned to suffocating reality, my father had a heart attack and had to be hospitalized. My mother became stressed so much that she somehow lost herself, often staring into nothingness with lifeless eyes. Even now, years later, they are still emotionally crippled by what happened back then.”

Her whole body shook as she spoke with grief filling every word.

”In America, facing immense debt should mean that we could at least declare bankruptcy. But Maximilian had not lied about one thing; he was well-connected to politicians. He made sure we could not do that.”

She clenched the handkerchief tight in her fist.

”The academy was shut down soon after as more and more people pulled their kids out, aware of the scam due to it being well known that awakening couldn’t possibly be forced. But the contracts did not vanish. The obligations did not vanish. My parents were left with millions of dollars of debt and a daughter who not only didn’t awaken but also struggled with basic academics because I grew up in that scam instead of a normal school.”

Her voice grew weaker.

”I begged Maximilian Vice to let us go. He laughed in my face. I begged government offices to help me, even if it meant declaring bankruptcy, I would be willing to grasp at any straw. They told me it was not possible. I wrote to politicians, asking for help. My emails were never answered. The only ones who answered me were the collectors. They broke down our doors and beat my poor mother and father up when we tried to escape our ’obligations.’”

She sobbed openly now, unable to hold it back.

”My parents and I worked as many jobs as we could. We gave up sleep. We gave up food. We destroyed our bodies trying to meet the quotas. But it was never enough. How could we pay millions when we came from humble backgrounds and lacked connections? When payments failed, he threatened me with the beating and even killing of my parents over and over again. And I believed him, after all, why wouldn’t I? Not only did he already display that he was more than capable of torturing my poor parents, but also that the whole system was on his side.”

Her voice sank lower, and the horror in her eyes deepened.

”I lost the fight. I stopped believing I could ever win. I gave up. Despite my parents begging me not to, despite them making promises that they would ’try harder,’ I knew it was useless.

”He was more than happy to accommodate my ’surrender’ with a peace deal. He agreed to forget the debt if I kneeled. I did. He made me his slave. His sex slave. I was forced to serve his every whim. But that was not the end. When Valhalla’s Sinners began to rise in fame in the awakened porn industry, he forced me to appear in ChronosX’s videos against my will. He violated me not only in private, but in public as well. He plastered my body across the world. Now, my relationship with my parents is ruined as I don’t dare show my face before them. They suffered more than enough. Seeing what became of their daughter was a cruelty I did not wish to punish them with.”

She collapsed into broken sobs, unable to catch her breath. The sound was raw, unending, unbearable. She wiped her eyes again and again, but the tears would not stop.

The video kept rolling, and she could not stop crying.

It was a hard watch. Brutal. There was no shield between her pain and the world.

But... She was not done just yet.

Through her sobs, Alexandra lifted her head. Her face was streaked with tears, and her lips trembled as she forced the words out.

”As you might imagine, I was not alone in my misery. Many children were enrolled alongside me in the ’academy.’ One such girl was called Nyx Cosmos. The pink-haired woman, now so many know as Kaiden Grey’s Space Valkyrie, his lover who always smiles brightly.”

She clutched the handkerchief so hard it looked ready to tear apart.

”We both faced the same debt. While my awesome parents kept the fight up, her parents ran away, abandoning her. But when I kneeled in defeat, Nyx kept fighting. While doing so, she met Kaiden Grey, and together, they began to rise. Together, they started making miracles happen.”

Alexandra’s voice shattered as her words dragged across the raw wound of memory.

”All the while... I was forced to turn my hair pink. I was forced to study Nyx’s mannerisms because Maximilian Vice had a colossal crush on her. I was forced to kneel between his legs and pretend I was Nyx Cosmos.”

Her body shook with sobs, but she pressed on, squeezing every ounce of courage she had left.

”This is why I am making this video. I was not brave enough to step up for myself before. I knew I would be buried by Maximilian and his cronies. But when I saw the defamation video he released about Kaiden Grey... I knew the truth. I knew Valhalla’s Sinners were being defamed not only because they threatened ChronosX’s monopoly over the awakened porn industry... but because it was personal to their CEO. Kaiden Grey took the woman Maximilian’s vile mind thought belonged to him. Kaiden made Nyx fall deeply in love, and Maximilian was forced to watch the love of his life act lovey-dovey with another man.”

She lowered her head, tears dripping from her chin into her lap.
