Death… And Me

Chapter 4546: Company

Rean immediately circulated his Light Element and Godly Energy, shooting backward at full speed. The old skeleton’s hand slipped from Rean’s shoulder as he pulled away, and Azerion simply watched him escape his grasp. Surprisingly, the ancient skeleton didn’t seem particularly bothered by it.

Rean then tried to make his way toward the stairs. At the same time, Luxa opened her mouth as Yang Energy and Fire Element rapidly accumulated within her. A moment later, she unleashed a massive stream of flames that looked almost exactly like a dragon’s breath...

Although she was a fox.

The Red and Golden flames engulfed Azerion while Rean activated his Crimson Lightning enhancement and movement skills, pushing himself toward the stairs as fast as possible. No, before he even reached the stairs, Rean had already taken flight. One couldn’t forget that even though Rean was only at the Aura God Realm, he could already fly.

By giving his all, Rean could definitely reach the speed of a Middle Stage Zone God, perhaps even touching the Late Stage under normal circumstances. And that was despite the much higher concentration of Godly Pressure in this place.

Yes, much higher.

When Coyui had arrived here through the teleport array, he had immediately felt a much greater concentration of Godly Pressure than what existed on the surface. Rean had obviously noticed the same thing when he came down here, which meant the suppression on his strength was even greater than what he had already experienced on Woster’s surface.

It was fortunate that the twins’ group had experienced another stage breakthrough after arriving in this place. Otherwise, Rean doubted he would have been able to display even this much speed.

Unfortunately, even such a remarkable display of speed wasn’t enough.

*Zush!*

Still with some of Luxa’s red-golden flames burning around his skeletal body, Azerion suddenly appeared in front of Rean. His speed was even greater than that of the Law Gods Rean had encountered in the past.

”Shit!”

Azerion’s Laws circulated around his body as Water Element rapidly accumulated. At the same time, Lightning Element surged through the water, intertwining with it in a way Rean didn’t expect.

Azerion was a dual-element user, something quite rare to see since they arrived in the Celestial Plane.

Azerion brought his hands together while looking directly at Rean.

”Close!”

Incredibly, the Lightning Element caused the Water Element to move almost as quickly as the Lightning itself. The two energies intertwined perfectly, becoming an extremely fast and flexible attack.

Rean was forced to change direction in midair, barely avoiding being caught by Azerion’s attack.

...Or so Rean thought.

Too bad the Lightning and Water Elements followed his movements like snakes. They were absolutely much faster than Rean himself, and no matter how cleverly he maneuvered through the air, the two elements continued pursuing him without slowing down.

With Luxa’s fiery breath still burning around Azerion’s body, Rean soon found himself and Luxa completely enclosed within a prison made of Water and Lightning Elements and Laws.

Rean’s Crystal Void Swords immediately appeared in his hands. He slashed at the prison walls, and his attack was indeed powerful enough to cut through the barrier. However, the opening wasn’t large enough for Rean and Luxa to escape.

He slashed again, and again. The prison continued to compact around them as Rean desperately tried to break free. The Water Element flowed around his attacks while the Lightning Element remained intertwined with it, making the entire prison increasingly difficult to escape.

Then, suddenly...

*Bzzzz!*

A massive burst of Lightning Element and Laws erupted from the prison walls and struck everything inside.

*Arrrghhhh!!!*

*Raaaaarrr!!!*

Even with Rean being able to use Red Lightning, he still couldn’t resist that much power. His entire skeletal body shook violently as the Lightning coursed through him.

Luxa was even worse. Her small body trembled uncontrollably, and she looked as though she could lose consciousness at any moment. Rean immediately understood how dangerous their situation had become.

No one would be able to help them at that moment.

Kentucky and Celis were still on the surface, and they would never be able to reach the underground chamber in time. Even if they somehow managed to get there quickly enough, they would still have to pass through the High-Elders of Rosvelt, who were already making their way down. There was simply no way they could rely on outside help.

Azerion eventually arrived in front of his Water and Lightning prison. A creepy smile appeared on his skeletal face as he looked at Rean from outside.

”Aren’t you going to give up? I admit, that was quite the speed for such low cultivation. However, you won’t be able to escape from me, especially in this place. The Godly Pressure here is a lot higher, which is particularly bad for outsiders like you.”

Azerion waved his hand, and the lightning inside the prison immediately disappeared. It was still present throughout the bars and water that formed the prison, but as long as Rean or Luxa didn’t try to touch the walls, they wouldn’t be affected by it.

*Growllll...*

Luxa quickly recovered enough to glare at Azerion and growl threateningly.

*Rawr! Rawr!*

’It is him! He is the reason for that unwilling feeling!’ she said through Godly Sense to Rean.

Rean stroked her fur, trying to calm her down. ’Alright, I understand. However, he is much stronger than us, and we can’t leave. Calm down a little. I will try to talk to him. Since he hasn’t killed us yet, there is still hope.’

Luxa reluctantly stopped growling, although she continued staring at Azerion with obvious hostility.

Finally, Rean spoke directly to Azerion. Well, first, he wanted to confirm something. ”Are you perhaps the ancestor called Azerion? The one who disappeared eons ago?”

”Oh!” Azerion seemed a little surprised. ”To think someone still remembers that past of mine. I guess my old journal is still out there, even up to this day.”

Rean narrowed his eyes. ”So it’s truly you. How come you are still alive? Your lifespan should have run out a long time ago.”

”That’s my little secret, and I believe you are missing the point here. The one asking questions is me, not you,” Azerion replied. ”I will deactivate my skill and let you out. If you don’t try to run again, there will be no need for things to get this stressful again. How about that?”

Rean’s eyebrow rose slightly. ”Then why did we go through all of this?”

”You ran away before I could even speak, remember?” Azerion shrugged.

”Oh, right...” Rean couldn’t argue with that. For once, the skeleton had a completely valid point.

Soon, the prison disappeared.

Suddenly, Azerion looked up toward the direction of the stairs. ”Our talk will have to wait. We have company. Quick, come with me. Use this skill of yours that lets you two become invisible.”

Rean and Luxa were taken aback. Nonetheless, they did as Azerion instructed. Man and fox disappeared in midair as they shot after Azerion, who quickly returned to his throne.

This time, the invisible barrier that had prevented Rean and Luxa from getting close to the throne wasn’t present. Rean couldn’t help but find that strange.

”Go behind my throne and stay there. Don’t say anything,” Azerion instructed.

Right afterward, he sat down on his throne in the exact same position Rean had found him in initially.

The sight gave Rean the same impression as before, almost as if Azerion hadn’t moved from that position on his throne for countless years. Even after everything that had just happened, the ancient skeleton once again looked like a lifeless statue that had been sitting there since the distant past.

’Just what is this guy even trying...’ Rean wondered.

Still, thanks to Kentucky’s warning, he already knew that the High-Elders of Rosvelt were coming down. Rean quickly hid behind the throne, which didn’t leave much room, but there was just enough space for him and Luxa to squeeze into.

Luxa curled herself close to Rean, doing her best not to make a sound.

Then, less than a minute later, several figures descended into the chamber like bullets.

The various High-Elders, led by Falasliu, arrived with terrible expressions on their faces. Obviously, they had already heard from the guards what had happened and understood that someone using Falasliu’s appearance had entered this place before the real Falasliu arrived. The situation had become far more serious than they had initially expected.

”Spread out!” Falasliu shouted. ”There is no exit in this place. We can definitely capture whoever this guy is!”
