Death… And Me

Chapter 4522: Don’t Trust Me

Turns out Kentucky wasn’t really in his Humanoid Form. Instead, that was his Godly Transformation!

There was a reason Kentucky had only been watching until now. He had heard from the others that Kabriu was a Late Stage Zone God, and with the Godly Pressure in Woster further weakening him due to his incomplete adaptation, Kentucky couldn’t realistically match Kabriu in the air.

Rather than recklessly expose his weakness, he decided to use the time to study his opponent instead. He watched Kabriu dodge the cultivators pursuing him and carefully observed the few attacks that managed to graze him, even though none of them inflicted any actual injuries. Kentucky committed every detail to memory, and now he intended to use everything he had learned.

”Well then, here I come!”

’Yin Yang Sky Feather Blades!’

A small amount of Kentucky’s bloodline entered two of his feathers as he held them like swords. At the same time, his Godly Energy accumulated around his wings, causing the surrounding air to tremble as he suddenly flapped them.

*Zush!*

Kentucky shot forward like a bullet, closing the distance to Kabriu almost instantly!

’So fast!’

Kabriu was taken aback. However, he quickly recovered and remained calm. ’Too bad it is still not enough.’

Kabriu also circulated his Godly Energy through his body before flapping his enormous wings. His body shot in the opposite direction from Kentucky, and the two Demon Birds immediately began racing through the sky.

Soon, all everyone could see was a pursuit between the two. The cultivators below couldn’t help but stare in amazement. Kentucky’s speed was definitely higher than any of theirs, including those who were also Peak Stage Aura Gods.

”Is he truly an Aura God?”

”He has to be!”

”But that speed...”

”The sect checks everyone’s cultivation when they register. There is no way to hide it.”

”He must truly be an Aura God!”

The discussion spread among the cultivators as they watched the two Demon Birds move everywhere. Kabriu had already been impressed by Kentucky’s speed, but he wasn’t worried. His cultivation was an entire major realm higher, and he was also a Demon Bird who specialized in aerial combat.

After flying for a minute, Kentucky was still close behind him, yet Kabriu was maintaining the distance without much difficulty.

”Is that all?” Kabriu called out. ”I admit, you are pretty fast, but just that isn’t enough to catch me.”

Kentucky smiled in response. ”Oh, don’t worry. Everything will work out.”

Kentucky immediately began burning a portion of his Minokawa Bloodline. It was a limited resource, and depending on how much he used, it could take quite a long time to recover. However, Kentucky had already decided on his strategy before the pursuit began. He wasn’t going to burn too much of his bloodline at once. Instead, he would use only five percent for a single burst.

*Vuzash!*

Kentucky’s speed increased immediately, taking Kabriu by surprise. However, Kabriu was also a Demon Bird with a strong bloodline. He knew exactly what it looked like when a Demon Beast burned its bloodline to temporarily increase its strength and speed.

This time, Kabriu didn’t hold back either. He poured as much Godly Energy as possible into his wings and pushed his speed to the limit. Thanks to that, he once again managed to surpass Kentucky’s speed, although only by a small margin. Of course, he didn’t need to burn his own bloodline. His cultivation advantage was enough.

”Hahaha! You’re good, but not good enough.”

”Is that so?” Kentucky asked calmly, pointing one of his Feather Blades forward. ”You shouldn’t pay so much attention to me, you know?”

Only then did Kabriu notice the problem.

His expression changed as he realized that he was almost leaving the area he had promised not to leave. If he crossed the boundary, that would essentially mean Kentucky had completed the test.

That wasn’t all. Kentucky had deliberately led him toward that exact location. Now, Kabriu’s options were severely limited. Going right or left would bring him closer to the testing areas where the other groups were conducting their own examinations, and he absolutely couldn’t interfere with them. He could only go up or down.

If he turned back, Kentucky’s speed was definitely sufficient for him to launch at least one close-range attack, and Kabriu had a strong feeling that those Feather Blades could actually get through his defenses.

There was no time to think for long.

Nonetheless, Kabriu was confident as he immediately circulated his Godly Energy through his wings and shot upward. ”Do you think you can still catch me? Haha! Naive! I have plenty of space above me to get away from you. I wonder how long your bloodline burning will last.”

”Me?” Kentucky shook his head, still hot on Kabriu’s tail. ”Who said I had to catch you? Or, at least, this me doesn’t.”

Kabriu was confused by the strange wording.

’This me?’

What was that supposed to mean?

Before he could think about it any further, something suddenly appeared within his detection range.

What Kabriu used wasn’t Godly Sense, nor was it Celestial Sense. Neither worked in Woster. However, the cultivators of Woster had long since developed a crude workaround. They released a large amount of their own energy into the surroundings and used the resulting disturbances to perceive what was happening around them.

It was ridiculously inefficient compared to Godly Sense or Celestial Sense. Even a Late Stage Zone God like Kabriu could barely perceive five meters around himself with this method. A Late Stage Zone God outside Woster could easily perceive almost a kilometer with Godly Sense, and around half of that with Celestial Sense.

Still, five meters was enough.

Kabriu suddenly sensed someone directly above him. Five meters! Someone else was there. Someone invisible. Someone who should have been pursuing him from behind. Yet now, that bird was in front of him.

Kabriu’s eyes widened. ’Impossible!’

The next instant, the invisible figure revealed itself.

Light Bending!

Mirage Assault!

In a place where neither Godly Sense nor Celestial Sense worked, Rean’s ultimate concealing technique and the twins’ clone technique finally revealed their true value.

The Kentucky above Kabriu immediately canceled his Light Bending Skill, revealing his flaming body. Behind him, the images of a Black Sun and a White Star appeared as the Black and White Flames began to rotate together. The surrounding space trembled as two enormous wing-shaped projections slowly took form behind Kentucky, their silhouettes spreading far.

Then, the Black Sun and White Star collided.

’Final Art - Sky Sovereign’s Twin Eclipse!’

”Shit!”

Kabriu immediately reacted. He finally understood what had happened. The Kentucky that had been pursuing him from behind was nothing more than a fake. The real Kentucky had been concealed the entire time, deliberately allowing Kabriu to believe he was chasing him while guiding him into the perfect position.

”Don’t think it will be that easy!”

Kabriu’s metallic feathers immediately reacted as his bloodline began to burn. The metallic sheen covering his body rapidly changed, the color of copper spreading across his feathers until his entire body shone with a deep bronze radiance. Every single metallic feather seemed to harden at the same time, forming layers of defense over his body.

Kabriu held absolutely nothing back.

He was extremely proud of his defense. If more than two hundred cultivators worked together and eventually managed to injure him, he could accept that. They had the advantage of numbers, after all, while Kabriu was alone and couldn’t fight back.

But if Kentucky managed to injure him in a one-on-one situation...

That?

He absolutely couldn’t accept that!

’Bronze Sky Fortress!’

*BANG!*

An enormous explosion of energy spread through the sky as Kentucky’s attack slammed directly into Kabriu.

For a moment, it looked as though Kentucky had succeeded. Then... Something strange happened.

”Uh?”

Kabriu was completely lost. He hadn’t been able to dodge the attack, so he had taken it head-on with his ultimate defensive technique. Yet...

’So weak...’

That was the first thought that appeared in Kabriu’s mind. Yes, there had been an attack. Yes, there had been an explosion. Yes, he had been hit directly.

However, forget about breaking through his defenses. Kentucky’s attack hadn’t even made him feel pain. Not a single one of his reinforced metallic feathers had suffered the slightest bit of stress.

Kabriu blinked. ’What the hell?’

His confidence immediately returned. Even though Kentucky’s speed had surprised him, it seemed his attack power was nowhere near enough to threaten him. If this was all Kentucky could do, then there was no chance of him passing the test.

But then, Kabriu’s eyes suddenly widened. The Kentucky who had just attacked him from above was changing. His body was slowly disappearing, breaking apart into countless specks of white and dark light.

’Motherfucker!

Kabriu finally understood.

’Where the hell did he learn to lie like this?!’

Somewhere else, a certain pair of twins felt a sudden urge to sneeze, much to their confusion.

At that exact moment, a voice suddenly came from behind Kabriu. ”You know, you shouldn’t just trust what I say.”

Kabriu’s entire body went rigid.

His eyes widened as he tried to turn around, but he had no time to react or reposition himself. Turns out that the Kentucky that had been pursuing him was truly the real Kentucky. Kabriu totally fell for Kentucky’s lie when he said that ’this me’ wasn’t going to get to him.

The two Feather Blades were already raised.

The Black Sun and White Star once again appeared behind him, their flames beginning to rotate as two enormous wing-shaped projections formed in the sky.

The attack was already ready to deploy!

’Final Art - Sky Sovereign’s Twin Eclipse!’
