Death… And Me

Chapter 4303: Sure As Hell

Speaking was much easier than accomplishing it, that was for sure. As mentioned before, most of the Godly Creatures’ Territory surrounding Besgol remained completely uncharted. Considering how rare the Three-Eyed Ravens were, together with how little of those territories had actually been explored, it was only natural that there had never been any reports of a raven nest being found.

Obviously, the nest had to be somewhere deep within the unexplored zones. There was simply no way they could head into those places right now, as that would amount to pure suicide. Yes, the twins’ group could use their cultivation technique to release Godly Pressure and disguise themselves as Godly Creatures. The problem was that Godly Creatures also hunted and killed one another. In the eyes of those creatures, the twins’ group would be nothing more than Godly Spawns, easy prey waiting to be crushed.

Of course, that didn’t mean they would be attacked everywhere they went. If that were the case, no Godly Creature Race would be capable of surviving since the vast majority of them were Godly Spawns themselves. The real issue was that the twins’ group would constantly be moving around, and sooner or later, they would inevitably trespass into the territories of stronger creatures several times, forcing them into battles.

Everyone fell silent until Rean finally sighed. ’There is no way we can go out there right now with our current strength. Truth be told, even if we were Aura Gods, it would still be extremely risky since we don’t even know where we are going. It’s simply not worth trying at all.’

’So what do we do? Wait until there is an army big enough to catch the attention of the Three-Eyed Raven? That only happened twenty-two times over the last hundred years. Besides, even if such a gathering is made to defend against a horde, if that horde doesn’t come to our side of the Besgol Region, we would probably not get there in time before the assault is already over,’ Kentucky commented.

The Besgol Region was indeed tiny when compared to the enormous scale of the Godly Creatures’ Territories, but from the perspective of anyone actually living there, it was still incredibly vast. Taking an airplane right now from the north-west side, where the twins’ group was located, all the way to the south-east side would still take well over an entire week.

[Hum?] At that moment, Sister Orb suddenly noticed something. [Wait, first of all, how do the Three-Eyed Ravens know whenever a huge army of cultivators is gathering here?]

’...shit!’ They all understood the implication at exactly the same time.

The Ravens would never join a horde if the army defending Besgol wasn’t large enough. That meant it had to remain somewhere nearby, observing whether there were enough experts gathered together to make the risk worthwhile!

’So this piece of shit is even more of an opportunist than we thought!’ Rean added.

[Better than that. Whenever the Raven joins the battle, there is never another Godly Horror present. That means the Raven possesses enough power to scare away the other Godly Horrors from the hordes whenever it finally finds an army big enough to interest it.]

’Of course, there are no guarantees here,’ Roan cautioned, refusing to get ahead of himself. ’But it is true that we are onto something. For now, let’s assume we are absolutely correct. The Ravens are always lurking there in the shadows, watching both the Godly Creature Hordes and the cultivators, waiting to see if there are enough of them before finally making an appearance.’

’How would we even find the Raven? If we take an airplane and go behind enemy lines, we are probably going to get swarmed. I would be surprised if we lasted more than a few seconds.’

’What about using our disguises before going behind enemy lines?’ Celis voiced his idea. ’During hordes, it doesn’t seem like the Godly Creatures attack each other. We might simply get ignored, which would allow us to move around freely wherever we want. We could even spread out, each one of us heading in a different direction while searching for the Raven.’

Too bad Roan immediately shut that idea down. ’Not gonna work. There is simply way too much land for us to cover. Besides, who said the Raven would stay near the ground at that time? If it is flying high up in the skies, and considering none of us can fly except for Kentucky, then our entire search would be meaningless.’

’Worse,’ Kentucky cut in. ’Finding the Raven itself would be meaningless since it would be far too strong for us to take down. Our objective here isn’t to fight the Raven that comes with the hordes. That thing would be at least a Godly Predator, and most likely a Godly Horror. We would get wiped out instantly. Instead, what we actually want is to follow it back to its nest, which is the only place where we might possibly find a Godly Beast level Raven.’

That sounded even more dangerous. Could they truly follow it back at all? Wouldn’t it notice them immediately? Even if they used Kentucky, he definitely wasn’t anywhere near as fast as a Godly Horror, especially one specialized in flight.

’Hehe... Hahahaha!’ At that moment, Rean burst out laughing. ’To think we would need it this soon! Rejoice, because your lord, Rean Larks, is here to save the day!’

Everyone ignored most of Rean’s dramatic declaration, focusing only on the part that actually mattered. ’Your airplane?’

’Yes!’ Rean didn’t care in the slightest about being ignored. He was clearly feeling great! ’I’m not making just any random flying vehicle. I’m really putting everything I have into it. You already know that the idea of flying freely without worrying about energy consumption is still way, way too far beyond us right now. Not even the Law Gods can maintain flight for long because of how absurd the energy expenditure is. That said, a high-quality airplane is an absolute necessity.’

’With the Astryte Ore Kentucky found, I can make runes good enough to reproduce my Light Bending Skill. I’m even planning to go beyond that. If my ideas actually work, I think I can also reproduce the natural Godly Pressure release that we use with our cultivation technique. Last but not least, it would definitely be fast enough to match the speed of a Godly Predator, maybe surpass it if we add Celestial Stones.’

’Of course,’ Rean added, making sure to clarify things properly. ’I’m only talking about forward movement while making soft and smooth turns through the air. Don’t expect this airplane to maneuver like a true Godly Predator would. Just the sheer G force alone would tear it apart instantly. Above all else, the airplane will serve as a means of locomotion. But it will sure as hell become the best one in the entire Besgol Region!’
