Death… And Me

Chapter 4223: No One

Rean explained everything to Default, who still found it hard to believe what had just happened. ”So... Victor sent you the gift, and the gift turned out to be the power to control The Echo. Not only that, now the entire Great Void is your Dimensional Realm. I’m sorry... but that sounds ridiculous.”

”It does, doesn’t it?” Rean said with a bitter smile.

”Hey, look! I can multiply my food!” Kentucky suddenly said, his various types of ores increasing in quantity nonstop.

”Hey, stop that!” Default rebuked Kentucky. ”You are not creating anything, okay? You are dragging it from somewhere else in the Great Void. Be careful when using the power of The Echo.”

”Eh?! Really?!” Kentucky was surprised to hear that.

Default noticed what he just said, looking back at Rean. ”That doesn’t mean I believe it yet.”

”You do know a lot more about it than we do, though,” Roan intervened. ”So this Divine Stone I got actually came from someone’s treasure, spatial ring, pocket dimensional realm, or some mine or vein somewhere in the Great Void, uh?”

”Sigh...” Default gave up. He was only denying reality at this point. ”Alright, I will accept that you can control The Echo. Yes, you can’t create things from nothing with The Echo, but you can use The Echo to control everything there is in the Great Void.”

He continued. ”But you have to be careful when you do it. If you try to make things appear for you, you are also making them disappear from somewhere else. Without knowing, you might be putting a lot of people or other living beings in danger when you do such things.”

Roan and the others nodded. ”Understood.”

”So, have you figured out why Victor gave you control over The Echo?” Default returned to the main topic.

Unfortunately, no one in the twins’ group could figure that out. ”Beats us. He only said he trusts we will do the right thing with it. Still, it is not like we can control the entire Great Void. We can only control what we can see, but from the looks of it, we can go anywhere we want now.”

”Then try it out,” Celis didn’t waste time. ”Send us... Let me see... send us to meet Soza. With The Echo in our hands, even Soza will be powerless against us four.”

”Soza?” They didn’t expect that request. However, it was then that Rean thought of something. ”It is actually a good idea. We still haven’t told Soul Gem that we met Fila and that she is alive.”

Kentucky left the ores there, getting curious. ”That is something I want to see. By the way, since the entire Great Void is our Dimensional Realm, does that mean we can simply leave our things anywhere we want?”

”Leave it here,” Default spoke. ”Other than me, no one should be able to come to this location. You were probably brought here because this is where everything started, where the others and I were born, and the Great Void first appeared. The presence of The Echo is strong here, so you needed to be here to conclude the connection with it.”

[He is right,] Sister Orb answered. Now she had to stay ’outside’ since there were no more Dimensional Realms for her to enter. Well, she could enter the countless existent ones in the Great Void, but that wouldn’t be the same. [My connection to the Great Void and your Echo control only really crystallized after we got here. However, you can now use The Echo anywhere you feel like.]

”Anyway,” Default continued. ”This place is the best if you are afraid of someone touching your things. If you wish, you can even block me from entering this place now. Your control over The Echo is genuine, while I’m just barely able to touch it. You can prevent me from entering this place as well if you want.”

”That won’t be necessary,” Roan said. Why block Default? He is also connected to The Echo, and he can’t do anything to harm it, which now includes the ones who can control it. Besides, the twins’ group has no reason to not trust Default after everything they had been through.

”Right! Then let’s go back to Lisan first. We need to tell Soul Gem,” Rean commented.

”Wait.” Default stopped them. ”Now that I think about it, is it really a good thing to let others know you can control The Echo?”

Roan agreed. ”I was going to mention the same thing. We can control it, but it is not like we are all-seeing. If this news spreads, it might only bring more trouble for our Lisan Universe. We still won’t be able to watch it forever. We can control The Echo, we can go anywhere we want, we can drag anyone anywhere we want to, but we can’t see everyone’s actions in the Great Void.”

”Makes sense,” Celis added. ”Can you even think what kind of mental burden it would cause us if we were seeing everything and everyone in the Great Void at the same time? Every action, every word, hell, every THOUGHT! Our souls would pretty much collapse instantly if we tried to take in all that information at once. Thus, we can only deal with what we are focusing on every moment in time; that’s all.”

Everyone had to agree with Celis. It was simply not something a single mind, or even four, could do.

”Anyway,” Roan continued. ”I don’t want anyone to know what we can do. It is exactly because we can’t see all and know all that this power actually would put everyone in Lisan in danger.”

”So...” Rean looked at him. ”We leave Fila behind and don’t tell Soul Gem?”

”Soul Gem is my disciple,” Default spoke. ”He would definitely keep the secret. However, if we tell one, how many do we tell in the end? It might be by coincidence, accident, or for some other reason, but someone might reveal this information. So, even if it is Soul Gem, my own disciple, we should not let him know. We shouldn’t let anyone know... but that doesn’t mean we can’t get his Fila back.”
