Daddy Always Gets Jealous

The little one glanced back at Wen Nuan, then looked sympathetically at Qin Shaojin.

Qin Shaojin, receiving the little one’s gaze, felt quite annoyed, ”Looking at what?”

”Nothing.” The little one scooted the stool closer to Qin Huan, turned around, and said to Wen Nuan, ”Auntie, go get another stool and sit next to me.”

Wen Nuan silently moved a stool and sat down next to the little one, quietly wrapping dumplings.

...

An hour later, the dumplings were all wrapped, and the group of people began to wash their hands in preparation for the meal.

The doorbell rang, Uncle Lu went to open the door and saw Huo Jinxue, inspecting her for quite a while, ”Miss, what happened to you?”

Huo Jinxue sobbed, ”I was scared to death. I’m not sure what happened, but luckily a kind-hearted person saved me.”

Uncle Lu hastened to let Huo Jinxue in, ”The master and mistress have gone to wash their hands, Miss, please sit on the sofa and wait for a moment.”

Huo Jinxue entered, wiped away her tears, and seeing the clean sofa while she herself was filthy, chose not to sit.

Zhong Qin, in the kitchen, heard Huo Jinxue’s voice and hurried out, seeing that there was a hole torn at the knee of her jeans, and her knee was also scraped, with dust covering her body, ”What happened?”

Huo Jinxue, not wanting to worry Zhong Qin, quickly spoke, ”Mom, it’s nothing, I just took a fall.”

Zhong Qin said softly, ”What’s the hurry?”

Huo Jinxue smiled at Zhong Qin, ”I was chasing after the bus.”

Zhong Qin felt a pang of heartache upon hearing this, but thought experiencing the life of ordinary people wasn’t a bad thing.

She looked at Uncle Lu, ”Go get the medical kit.”

As her words fell, Huo Jinnan, Qin Huan, and the little one came down from upstairs.

Seeing Huo Jinxue’s condition, Huo Jinnan furrowed his brow, ”Mom, you go and rest for a bit, I’ll take care of Jinxue.”

Zhong Qin, thinking about the siblings’ recent unhappiness and figuring some time together might be good, said, ”Then I’ll go and help Nanny Rong.”

Huo Jinnan, seeing the medical kit brought over by Uncle Lu, and hearing Qin Shaojin, Yu Zimu, and Shen You’s voices coming down the stairs after their showers, glanced at Huo Jinxue’s knee, ”Go to mom’s room, I’ll treat your wound.”

Huo Jinxue replied with an ”Okay,” looked respectfully at Qin Huan and asked, ”How are you, second sister-in-law?” Taking the medical kit, she followed Huo Jinnan.

Inside Zhong Qin’s room, Huo Jinnan first cleaned Huo Jinxue’s wound, then used a cotton swab dipped in iodine to disinfect it, ”What happened?”

Huo Jinxue, still shaken by the earlier scene, recounted, ”I just got off the bus when a black van drove up, and several men in black shirts got out and tried to drag me into the van. I... I struggled with all my might, fell to the ground, and scraped my knee. Then, all of a sudden, a man in a white shirt and black trousers appeared and saved me.”

Thinking of the man in the white shirt and black trousers, Huo Jinxue blushed slightly.

Huo Jinnan glanced at her complexion and without inquiring further about the man, his brow slightly knit. The series of incidents were clearly no coincidence.

Remembering that Huo Jinxue’s recent commutes involved taking a bus to the location nearest to Nanyuan Villa and then transferring to a taxi, he said quietly, ”In the future, call me when you want to come back, and I’ll have Uncle Lu pick you up.”

Huo Jinxue hurriedly replied, ”No need, second brother, I think someone must have learned about my identity and tried to kidnap me. It seems kidnappings are quite common these days, I’ll be more careful next time.”

Huo Jinnan did not answer again, and after treating Huo Jinxue’s wound, he stood up and called Huo Bei, ”Check the electronic surveillance at the place where Huo Jinxue got off the bus.”
