Cursed Immortality

Chapter 896: Nightmare Sepsis

Jacob’s eyes regained focus, and the next moment, the soul star watch on his wrist vanished into his infinity pendant.

The first thing he did after he exited the Virtual Star World was converse with Nyx as he questioned, ”So, how was it?”

Although the Virtual Star World was fascinating, Jacob wanted information about the legendary plains and its current situation, in addition to how this world works, which he finally had after spending a few hours.

Not only that, but Jacob also found that those merchants in the Legendary Spectrum Sky City weren’t selling anything to those independent Legendary Rank experts because of the decree of the top powers, which was the result of the current emergence of Zodiac Beasts.

If he wanted to buy something, he needed to be a member of those powers or be a legendary king, which Jacob didn’t want to reveal at that moment. After all, Jacob had the Myriad Galaxy King’s wealth, and since he was a King Alchemist, he should also have cutting-edge equipment that he could use for now.

That’s why, after gathering information, he decided to call it a day and exited the Virtual Star World since he didn’t want to waste time, especially with the ambiguous situation with the Zodiac Beasts.

Nyx spoke at this moment in a mischievous tone, ”Well, it seemed you were right this time. This place isn’t like that soul farm. Although some element of soul is involved, it’s completely different from that place. Furthermore, its structure is almost flawless, and even with my current power, I can’t mess with it, or we’ll be discovered!”

Jacob nodded in acknowledgment since he had been expecting this much from the Star Network, but he still felt somewhat pity.

”On another note…” Nyx suddenly said with a hint of anticipation, ”Can you give me this Soul Star Watch? I think I can also use it to enter that world and try spreading my seeds from there. After all, not only will it grant you lifespan if I succeed, but I can be your eyes and ears in that place?”

Jacob was astounded by this unexpected request as he asked with a hint of suspicion, ”I was under the impression that you can’t have your physical body. How are you planning on binding the star soul watch?”

”Hehehe, who said anything about needing a body to use that toy? From my analysis, that thing will work if it has a different soul signature. So, all I need is for you to wear it. Let me try using my soul force. If it works, I’ll consider a new user and can also enter there!” Nyx stated with evident excitement.

Jacob was amazed since Nyx’s words made sense, and the more he mulled over them, the more doable it seemed.

But he wasn’t going to allow it so quickly as he questioned coldly, ”Tell me the truth, you just want to play around, don’t you?”

”Oh, come on!” Nyx wailed with indignation, ”What’s wrong with having some fun? I’ve been nothing but faithful to you and follow your every command without any hesitation; you can at least grant me this much as a reward, right? Please?

”Look at the bright side; if I am really able to use my prowess there, I’ll be like fish returning to the water and think about the lifespan we’ll gather this way.

”I’m a legendary king rank nightmare, for god’s sake, and no legendary king will be able to discover me just like that shifty ghost guy who is about to die a horrible death. By the way, the Nightmare Sepsis is almost complete, just like you wanted. And I promise to behave, and I’ll be discreet!”

She tried to sound pitiful and cute, but it was the last thing that would work on Jacob. But his eyes still flickered when she mentioned the lifespan, and he knew this was an excellent opportunity to replenish his lifespan.

Furthermore, he knew as long as Nyx only used the Nightmare Conqueror seed, not the Nightmare Sepsis, no legendary king would be able to discover her.

However, he also hesitated because it was the star network, and it was still unclear if she could even use her abilities in that virtual world.

”No, it’s too risky.” Jacob shook his head, ”I don’t trust the star network completely. I have too many enemies, especially because of the damn key in possession. Although the zodiac beasts might’ve diverted their attention from it, I have a feeling that those guys are still looking for it.

”Moreover, they don’t even know what it is, yet the chaos it had caused is enough to tell that someone knows, and there are too many uncanny abilities that can reveal it’s in my possession. They may not work on me, but you, on the other, won’t be able to escape if someone suspects you.

”After all, I know how much you like to have ’fun,’ once you reveal you’re a legendary king, you’ll be under everyone’s scrutiny. I’m especially wary of the Holy King of the Cardinal Spirit Temple; she’s one of the strongest and most mysterious among the legendary kings, and there is even a rumor that the Holy King can find anyone and nothing can escape the Holy King’s eyes. Most importantly, the Holy King has a connection with ’Gods’.” Jacob stated in a grave tone, and this was just a fraction of the knowledge he had gathered.

”Well, you don’t know that!” Nyx retorted, ”Can you please trust me just once? I’m not an idiot to cause trouble, especially when I cherish my life as much as you do. I won’t reveal anything. Just give me a chance. Please?! Or…or…o-r I’ll nag you to no end!”

Jacob’s expression turned cold, ”You’re not going to listen?”

”NO!” Nyx shouted, ”I also won’t give you the Nightmare Sepsis Fruit! Just give me a chance! It isn’t clear if I can pull this off, yet you’re so stubborn!”

A flash of anger appeared in Jacob’s eyes. He could easily cut off Nyx’s connection and confine her into the nightmare realm, but she was very important, especially that Nightmare Sepsis Fruit from Blackwell because Nightmare Sepsis was Nyx’s new ability she awakened after she evolved into legendary rank.

Nightmare Sepsis not only torments its victim, but like a neoplasm, it eats their entire soul and produces Nightmare Sepsis Fruit, which has two uses.

The first one was that it could heal soul injuries, like soul medicine, and strengthen the soul. The second and most important one is that it also contains 40% random life memories of its victim.

Although it can’t extract 100% memories like Autarch, it was still enough for Jacob to hold this ability in high regard.

Moreover, Nightmare Sepsis can be countered as long as the soul of the Nightmare contractor, which means Jacob’s soul was weaker than Nyx’s victim because it inflicts extreme pain, especially when it’s reached its completion. At the same time, Nyx can use her abilities on Nightmare Sepsis victims, no matter where they hide.

However, Jacob wasn’t too worried since he knew Nyx wouldn’t dare to go against him and only throw a tantrum. However, this could also lead to some consequences that Jacob didn’t want.

After all, as Nyx evolved, Jacob started to understand just how powerful and uncanny her abilities were, and she could use them without even him realizing it. Although there was the nightmare contract in play, and she couldn’t betray him, he was never able to confirm its exact contents and only had Immortika’s assurance.

Nonetheless, Nyx was loyal despite her annoying personality, and just as she said, she cherished her life as much as Jacob himself. Find exclusive content at .Côm

In the end, Jacob decided to give in since it wasn’t clear if she could even do this in the first place, but he wouldn’t show any weakness, or she would think she could get whatever she wanted by simply throwing a tantrum.

”I’ll think about it once I have the result of your Nightmare Sepsis Fruit. But this will be the last time you try to threaten me, is that understood?” Jacob asked in an icy tone.

Nyx pursed her lips since she knew Jacob’s personality, so she knew pushing this further would only cause herself trouble. She replied, ”Hmph, fine!”
