Chapter 2547: Psychiatrist

“I am your psychiatrist, Doctor Ying. According to your referrer, Officer Mei, you believe that you are from another world. Can you tell me why you believe you are from another world?” Doctor Ying questioned Yuan with a calm expression on her face.

“Is there really a point in this? It’s not like you’ll believe me…” Yuan sighed aloud.

“If you don’t want to talk, then there’s nothing I can do. I won’t force you, either. However, until you do, your recommendation won’t go away, and you will be punished after the time limit,” said Doctor Ying.

“Out of curiosity, what is the punishment?” Yuan inquired.

“You’ll either go to jail or be forced to enlist in the military,” she calmly replied.

“…”

Yuan fell silent. As absurd as his situation was, there was nothing he could do but go with the flow for now.

After all, he had no idea where he was—or when he would be able to return to the Nine Heavens.

‘All of this is so ridiculous that it feels like I am dreaming, but it also feels too realistic to be one. Am I trapped inside an illusion? One so powerful that I cannot tell what’s real or fake?’ Yuan wondered inwardly.

If he were truly in an illusion, his best solution was to hope for Shiva to wake him up.

“Are you ready to talk, or would you like to reschedule your appointment?” Doctor Ying asked after Yuan remained silent for an entire minute.

Yuan sighed before responding, “I will speak.”

“Good. Then, to start, tell me about the world you came from,” she said, hoping to gauge the extent of his condition.

“I came from a place called the Nine Heavens. It is a world that was once whole but was divided into nine separate realms after a certain incident,” Yuan began, explaining the origins of the Nine Heavens.

“However, I was born on Earth, one that is different from this one, which is also part of the Nine Heavens…”

“Can you tell me more about the Nine Heavens—particularly this other ‘Earth’?” Doctor Ying asked. “For example, what was life like there? How is it different from this world?”

After taking a deep breath, Yuan explained everything in detail to her.

“…”

Doctor Ying remained relatively calm at first, but the more she listened to Yuan, the more she realized just how serious his condition was.

‘His level of imagination is off the charts!’ she cried inwardly. ‘I have spoken with many patients before, but none of them are as delusional as this one! I’m surprised that he even made it to adulthood!’

Once she was satisfied, Doctor Ying said, “Alright, I have a good idea of your condition.”

She retrieved a machine from the back and said, “I am going to check for any abnormal status now.”

Yuan raised an eyebrow, wondering if she believed that his ‘illness’ could be cured through the system.

“Step inside,” she said, beckoning him to enter the capsule-shaped machine.

Although it resembled the one that gave him Gaia’s System at first, it had a slightly different shape and a completely different color.

Without a word, Yuan entered the capsule and waited for Doctor Ying to do her thing.

She closed the door on him and started the machine shortly after without any explanation.

Soon, an unknown liquid began to fill the interior, submerging Yuan in seconds.

Yuan didn’t bother holding his breath this time and breathed normally.

Meanwhile, Doctor Ying examined the results.

[Name: Yuan]

[Age: ???]

[Cultivation: Third Level First Ascension]

[Physique: Perfected Heavenly Refinement]

[Credential Rank: 1]

“Perfected Heavenly Refinement?!” Doctor Ying exclaimed after seeing his status.

Although everyone in this world possessed the Heavenly Refinement physique, it existed in several ranks. To Doctor Ying’s knowledge, Perfected Heavenly Refinement was the highest attainable rank—and one that is only theoretically possible.

This meant that nobody has ever achieved Perfected Heavenly Refinement… at least until now.

“N-No way… There must be something wrong with the machine… How can someone with such a low cultivation achieve the legendary Perfected Heavenly Refinement?”

Then, she looked down a little more, examining Yuan’s hidden status that can only be seen by those with enough credentials.

[Anomalies: Level 2 Curse, Level 3 Curse, Level 4 Curse, Level 5 Curse, Level 6 Curse, Level 7 Curse, Level 8 Curse, Level 9 Curse, ???, ???, ???]

“?!?!”

Doctor Ying’s eyes widened at the anomalies within Yuan, her jaw nearly touching the floor in shock.

“What the heck is up with him?! How can a single person have so many anomalies?! There are even some that I do not have the credentials to see!” she cried out loud, looking like she was witnessing a ghost.

As a doctor and a psychiatrist, Doctor Ying’s Credential Rank was naturally higher than that of the average person. Yet, even with her Rank 5 Credentials, she was unable to access all of Yuan’s information.

‘This guy… how is he even still alive?!’

More importantly, she did not see the anomaly that would normally appear in mentally unstable individuals, as Gaia’s System was capable of detecting such conditions as well.

‘Does this mean he is not insane? Is he actually telling the truth? No… This only proves that he is not mentally unstable. It tells me nothing about whether he is lying or telling the truth…’ Doctor Ying pondered with a serious expression.

She looked into the machine and saw Yuan calmly staring back with a smile.

‘Just who is this man…?’

Some time later, Doctor Ying let Yuan out of the machine and said to him, “I have confirmed that you are not mentally unstable, but that doesn’t mean you’re not an attention seeker lying to seek attention.”

“So, what now?” Yuan asked.

“Do whatever you want, but if you continue telling people you came from another world, you can expect things to get ugly really fast. Hell, you’re extremely lucky to have encountered Officer Mei and not someone else.”

Yuan raised an eyebrow and asked, “Do you know her? Officer Mei?”

Doctor Ying nodded and said, “We’re childhood friends.”
