Chapter 2461 Ending The Transcendentsʼ Punishment

”Haaa…” Yuan let out a long sigh, then muttered in a low voice. ”The more I learn about you Eternals, the more I despise your kind. Whether itʼs treating humans as tools or using us for your own amusement… I hate all of it.”

”Donʼt talk as if weʼre the only ones who do such things,” Deemo said, shaking his head. ”Iʼve watched humans for longer than youʼve been alive. They also treat their own kind like tools, kill each other over trivial matters, even enslave one another. In what way are you any better than us Eternals? Itʼs nothing but hypocrisy.”

”Not only are you humans not any better than us, but Iʼd even argue that youʼre worse than us in many ways,” Deemo sighed. ”I bet youʼve killed plenty of humans yourself.”

”Thatʼs…” Yuan opened his mouth but could not think of any comebacks.

Sure enough, Yuan had taken many lives—both in his past and current life. Whether they deserved it or not was another matter entirely; it didnʼt change the simple fact that he had killed.

”Or what? Are you saying that only humans can kill humans? In that case, then what about magical beasts being hunted by humans? What about the animals enslaved by humans? Humans also play god when they have the chance. At the end of the day, our kind doesnʼt matter. The strong make the rules, and the weak obey. That is all that truly matters.” Yuan closed his eyes and sighed.

”Thereʼs no point in arguing philosophy. What truly matters to me is what is right and what is wrong. Humans… Magical beasts… Eternals… Regardless of their identity, the wrong should be punished.”

”What is right and what is wrong…? The strong are always right, and the weak are wrong. That is the rule of this world—this universe!” Deemo declared.

”...”

After a moment of silence, Deemo spoke again, ”Letʼs cease this debate that will go nowhere. Let me hear your answer. Will you become my subject and fight for me?”

Yuan sneered. ”How does fighting for you benefit me at all? A mere favor from you hardly seems worth it.” ”Of course it will benefit you. The winner of the event will receive an enormous amount of Eternal Essence—at least ten trillion yearsʼ worth. If we win, Iʼll give that Eternal Essence to you, which will surely help you fight against Eternals.”

Yuan raised an eyebrow. ”Whatʼs the point of you participating if youʼre just going to hand over all the rewards to me? And whoʼs providing the Eternal Essence, anyway? Itʼs not some treasure you can just toss around.”

”Reputation and bragging rights,” Deemo replied calmly. ”As for the Eternal Essence, it comes from all participating Eternals. Each one must pay a trillion yearsʼ worth of Eternal Essence just to enter.”

”When is it going to start?” Yuan asked after a moment of silence. ”I swear, if you say something stupid like a billion years—”

”It will start in a hundred years—ninty nine years and three hundred days to be exact.”

”I will think about it,” Yuan then said.

”If youʼre thinking about finding another Eternal to fight for, donʼt bother. Youʼll only be wasting your time,” Deemo suddenly said.

”And why is that? Not saying thatʼs what I was thinking. I am just asking out of curiosity,” Yuan said.

”Sure you are…” Deemo shook his head.

Yet, he still entertained Yuan and explained, ”Itʼs because we are only allowed to use our ʼcreationʼ to participate. Since you can transform into a demon, I can claim that youʼre one of my creations.”

”Is that so?” Yuan mumbled.

”Anyway, Iʼll let you know later. I still need some time to think about it.”

Deemo nodded, ”Take as much time as you need, as long as you decide before the event.”

”By the way, is this event the reason Zaaran wanted the Transcendentsʼ blood?” Yuan suddenly asked, recalling Zaaran.

”Yes, he probably wanted to use their blood to strengthen his own creation.”

”Zaaranʼs creations… I have a good guess about what they might be…” Yuan mumbled, recalling the existence of the Giant Race.

As far as he knew, the Giant Race possessed immense strength and durability, but lacked the regeneration that demons had.

ʼIf the Giant Race also had the demonsʼ ridiculous regeneration, theyʼd become quite the terrifying existence,ʼ Yuan thought to himself.

”Iʼm done answering your questions,” Deemo suddenly declared. ”If you want to know more, you can ask me after you agree to become my subject.”

”Wait! One last thing! And itʼs not a question!” Yuan hastily said.

”What is it?”

”Can you give back the Transcendents their freedom?” ”How is that not a question?”

”Itʼs a request. If you free them, itʼll definitely change my opinion of you… for the better, which will make me more likely to help you,” Yuan said with a sly smile.

”...”

Deemo silently glared at Yuan with his featureless face. He understood perfectly well what Yuan was trying to do. Although he disliked being taken advantage of, he was willing to tolerate it for the sake of his goal.

”Very well. I will end their punishment for attacking me. It has been long enough, and I had planned to do so soon even without your request,” he said.

”Then Iʼll send you back now.”

The next moment, Deemo teleported Yuan back to the Demonic Realm.

”Master Yuan!” Lev cried out loud after seeing Yuanʼs return.

Selena looked around, clearly searching for the Demon God. However, Deemo didnʼt go with Yuan.

”Where is the Demon God?” Selena asked him a moment later.

”Heʼs gone,” Yuan said.

”How long have I been gone?” he then asked.

”Not long. Youʼve only been gone for three years,” Lev answered.

”Three years? It didnʼt feel longer than a few days…” Yuan muttered.

”Anyway…”

Yuan turned to look at Selena and said with a smile, ”I have some good news for you.”

Selena raised an eyebrow, a puzzled look on her face.

”The Demon God has agreed to end your punishment. Youʼre no longer confined to Death Paradise, so youʼre free to leave.”

”What…?” Selenaʼs jaw instantly dropped at his words.
