Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 822: Only Solace [GT Ranking Bonus - ]

At this point in time, Asher had already given up on the Inter-Empire Competition. He had already found a remote place, set up his Luxury Tent, and simply lived in it. He had been there since the second day. He simply ate, slept, watched movies, while also watching the trending battles of various students that people of the Thalvorn Empire had uploaded online.

All in all, Asher was having a great day. No pressure whatsoever. This was the ultimate purpose of living and existence to Asher. Why be so overpowered, strong, rich, and all that, only to become another boring human being? No, one should be able to kick back and relax, walk on the beach, chill with a few women, and enjoy life.

The ultimate purpose of life was to live it to the fullest. And since he had attained a rank no one could touch or even question, there was simply no need to keep fighting and fighting. It was simply useless at this point.

Everyone around the world, man, woman, child, commoner, noble, they all already knew that he was the best, and no one else came close.

Unlike the first time when Asher had pulled out the Luxury Tent on the night of the first day, this time people were no longer surprised. Instead, they welcomed it. They had even created a website for him and suggested things he could do. Sunbathing. Having a few female students chill with him. Helping others gain points and all that.

Of course, Asher saw it all, but he ignored it.

And needless to say, Asher’s phone number had leaked. The staff member who had helped him illegally set up his phone when they were shopping had, of course, sold Asher’s phone number for a sky-high price. Asher kept getting calls and texts every second. He had to download a few movies offline and put his phone on flight mode so he would stop receiving those messages.

At this point, Asher had crossed the two million mark, which he achieved on that same second day. After gaining a few thousand points from the two stupid students who attacked him earlier, Asher decided to simply cross the two million mark. Since then, he had become a lazy young master.

Asher didn’t hide his Luxury Tent like he did on the night of the first day. No, he left it in the open and simply left a Photon Clone to handle anything that might happen.

And also, Asher had long since left the dry Grand Canyon. After his battle with Xal’Thar, he had simply gone to another battlefield where he got the necessary points to enter the two million mark.

And as for what Asher was doing at this moment, well, he was laughing his ass off at the videos of Finch that had been uploaded online with various clickbait titles.

’So this guy acquired a Flag,’ Asher thought to himself as he read through the information online. Although it didn’t say which Flag it was, Asher wouldn’t be surprised if Finch possessed the White Flag, or better yet, more than one Flag. After all, there was never a rule that said a student must only have one Flag to their name.

After seeing Finch’s ridiculous feats, Asher had come to understand that even William himself, who talked about how absurdly lucky the guy was, didn’t seem to fully understand his own best friend’s luck.

’William would love these videos and news articles,’ Asher mused.

For a moment, he was tempted to find William and Ryaen and help them enter the top 50. He could do it if he wanted to; he still had seventeen hours left. But he gave up on the idea. There was no point in doing so. It would only make people look down on the hard work they had put in until now, or rather, overshadow it.

And besides, helping them qualify might not be a good idea. No one knew what the next round was about, and with everyone in the top fifty, aside from Finch, having the power to fight Rank 5 beings at a minimum, the both of them would only embarrass themselves in front of the world.

Asher stared at Finch’s rank. He wondered how this guy was supposed to survive in the next round. After all, he was sure there will be no Positive Zone at that point, and from the numbers and statistics online, Finch had found seventeen Positive Zones so far. And somehow, he always found one with a bed, water, and food every night.

Although he might make it through this round, at the end of the day, he would simply become the easiest target during the next round, and Asher had no intention of helping him at the detriment of his own interests. But if he could help without suffering for it, then he would help the guy.

’Let’s hope he has some trump card up his sleeves,’ Asher mused to himself before choosing to forget about it.

Although he thought that, Asher knew he was simply hoping for nothing, as the only trump card Finch could possibly possess was a White Flag, which became useless once it was used.

At this moment, Ryaen had sneaked into the top two hundred, as she was now ranked 185th, which was by all means impressive given that she was a first-year student, as the rest of the first years were hanging around the six hundreds and seven hundreds.

As for William, he was busy running for his life from a group of students that seemed to be working together to ambush students from other Academies. His breath was heavy as his feet pounded against the ground.

Already, William’s ability was overpowered, but the limitations placed upon it had become his greatest weakness. After all, in a competition like this, how was he supposed to know how old a student was? His Copy Ability was limited to copying the abilities of people his own age.

How was he supposed to know which student possessed a good ability? After all, people usually fought physically at first without using their abilities or Astra Energy in order to conserve it.

So in a battle like this, his greatest strength became his greatest weakness.

Due to this, his rank had plummeted greatly, as he was now within the upper four hundreds.

”You fucker, why are you running? Just give up already. You aren’t even within the top fifty,” one of the students shouted as they chased William.

”Neither are you sons of bitches!” William couldn’t help but reply as he jumped onto the branch of a tree and leaped to another as he employed his Movement Techniques, his speed skyrocketing.

But the students simply used their own Movement Techniques as well.

To William, these students were fools. He knew that when this round was about to end, maybe an hour or two before the deadline, these fools would betray one another so they could gather everyone’s points for themselves and sneak into the top fifty at the final moment.

But although he thought this, he could only grit his teeth as he moved, cursing his own luck. After all, he hadn’t met Asher, or Finch, or even Ryaen, not even the Prince.

Every encounter he had experienced so far had somehow ended badly. Either he met people stronger than him, groups that outnumbered him, or individuals whose abilities were completely useless for him to copy. It was almost impressive how consistently unfortunate his situation had become.

And with that, William remained on the run. Although he wouldn’t qualify for the next round, he was determined not to get disqualified. That was his only solace in all this.
