Charm point maxed out, inheriting game assets

Chapter 115: Chapter 114: Technical Consultant, CTO Chapter 115: Chapter 114: Technical Consultant, CTO May 8, 2023, Monday, sunny, 12~26°C.

Linjin Building, Jinxiu Commerce, Human Resources & Administration Office.

“Yes, Chairman Ren! Tang Song has personally rejected our invitation. I’ve already raised the annual salary to the limit. I even discussed stock options, but they’re completely uninterested,” he said.

“The layoffs at that time were decided after Director Chen and President Li discussed it. Of course, since it was just an ordinary developer, I agreed to it,” he added.

“It’s indeed my fault, I’m not well-informed about the situation of the technology department staff,” he admitted.

“Alright, I understand,” he confirmed.

Xu Lin hung up the phone, his face looking extremely unpleasant.

He had thought that the matter would have concluded with Tang Song’s repeated rejections.

At most, the person handling this would take a hit, they’d just select another CTO, and it would soon blow over.

He hadn’t expected the board to take this so seriously.

Last Friday, they formed a task force and had a meeting with all the staff from the technical support department.

The first workday of the week, President Feng Zhongping and Chairman Ren Huining had both called her, speaking in very serious tones.

Past issues had begun to surface one after another, such as the development of the SCM system, Tang Song’s technical level, and the unfair treatment he encountered.

Xu Lin licked her dry lips, her complexion somewhat pale. She had an intuition that something might indeed go wrong.

Smile Capital was no innocent lamb, but a real tiger. With human resources and finance as crucial departments, there’s no way they wouldn’t consider a change in personnel.

Now, with such a good excuse, she was the first to be hit.

Tian Jing sitting in the corner stuck out her tongue, feeling a bit disappointed.

Tang Song too, coming back to the company as a CTO would have been great.

Since the holidays, the company had gone through significant changes, turning into a complete mess.

As the compensation manager, she was busy to death every day, having worked overtime just yesterday, and she simply had no time to learn guitar from Tang Song.

Nevertheless, she had specifically bought one and was waiting for when there was nobody at home so he could come over to her place and give her some lessons on playing techniques.

Thinking about this, she bit her lip, feeling a tickle in her heart.

She shook her head, casting away those wild thoughts.

Tian Jing picked up her phone and opened WeChat.

She first sent a message to Tang Song, updating him on the current situation of the technical support department.

Then, she opened the lively chat group “Second Time Bliss.”

Bigwig Qingqing was sharing her recent happenings.

She was providing legal aid to a clothing company, which led to harassment and pursuit from the company’s executives, with that woman hiding behind the scenes and even taking a few pictures of them eating and drinking together.

Furious, her CEO lover outright bought shares in the clothing company, becoming the majority shareholder, and made that executive kneel and beg for mercy.

However, during this process, they also had a violent argument…

The CEO even threatened to shut down her law firm, wanting Qingqing to obediently become his only pet.

Seeing such a twisted and bizarre experience, Tian Jing’s eyes sparkled.

She started offering strategies and ideas in the chat.

Though she was a novice in matters of the heart, she loved getting involved in such exciting discussions.

“Knock, knock, knock—” The office door was struck.

Tian Jing quickly straightened up, meticulously staring at the Excel file on her computer.

Following this, the Chairman’s assistant walked in, saying, “Director Xu, there’s a leadership meeting at 10:00 AM in the main conference room. Please make sure to attend.”

Xu Lin’s heart skipped a beat, and she promptly responded, “Alright, I’ll get ready.”

…

“Buzz, buzz, buzz—” The phone vibrated frantically.

Tang Song gestured to his colleagues and then walked out of the meeting room.

He answered the call.

A somewhat familiar middle-aged male voice came through, very enthusiastic, “Hello, Tang Song, right? Haha, this is Feng Zhongping.”

“Hello, President Feng,” Tang Song’s eyes widened a bit, his face showing surprise.

He had a very good impression of the CEO of Jinxiu Commerce.

A 40-something returnee with a master’s degree who had years of work experience overseas, always full of energy, a true workaholic, he was the one who enhanced the good treatment at Jinxiu Commerce after taking office.

Excellent reputation, a very competent president.

Feng Zhongping spoke kindly, “Tang Song, about the SCM system and the issue with Chen Yunqiang, I’ve gotten a clear picture. I am very sorry that you had to suffer such unfair treatment. The company will handle this matter, and I also want to apologize on behalf of the company.”

“Thank you, President Feng. Jinxiu Commerce is a good company, and I have always been grateful,” he truly had no complaints about Jinxiu Commerce.

Human-oriented management, stable work, good salary.

“That’s good. I am actually calling to invite you to be a part-time CTO and technical consultant for the company. Your salary will be based on that of a full-time employee,” Feng Zhongping paused, allowing Tang Song to digest his words, then continued, “Chen Yunqiang has violated the company rules and is currently undergoing the resignation process. We will be recruiting a new director for the technical support division, and all you need to do is oversee the big picture.”

Tang Song was stunned for a moment. Another part-time job?

But this so-called technical consultant was clearly just a nominal position, especially since there was a specific director responsible for the business.

Such generous terms, such outrageous conditions, these had to be the result of Smile Capital flexing its muscles, forcing the board to compromise.

It might even have been suggested by Secretary Jin.

After thinking it over, Tang Song said, “All right, President Feng, I agree to serve as the company’s technical consultant.”

Now that Smile Capital was a shareholder of the company, it was somewhat his own business too, and taking a little advantage didn’t hurt.

Feng Zhongping didn’t seem surprised by this, speaking in a gentle voice, “Then let’s leave it at that for now. Come by the company to sign the contract when you have time.

We have already entrusted DJRH to recruit for the new director position.

Your corporate email has been reactivated, and information about the candidates will be sent there. You’re welcome to provide feedback at any time,” he added.

“Alright, thank you, President Feng, goodbye.”

“Goodbye.”

After hanging up, Tang Song shook his head, chuckled, and turned back to the meeting room, “Let’s continue our meeting.”

Gao Mengting flipped to the next slide and said, “Host assistant He Liting, 23 years old, with two years of work experience, has a good figure and looks, occasionally appears on camera as the co-host, has quick responses, and is skilled at managing the atmosphere of the live broadcast…”

After introducing the last candidate, Gao Mengting said, “These six members make up the entire women’s wear department at Changyun Media. Knowledgeable has already reached an agreement with them, and they are all confirmed to join our team.”

Tang Song looked at the team list and smiled, “They all look great. With such an experienced sales team, our live broadcasts should be on the right track soon.”

Gao Mengting expressed some concern, “The only issue now is their resignation timing. Apart from Liu Renjie who has already resigned from operations, the others might be held back by Changyun Media.

Snatching an entire team will undoubtedly irritate company leaders; they might delay releasing them for a month.

“It’s okay, trust in Knowledgeable!” Tang Song said confidently. “They said they can have the recruitment completed this week, so there won’t be any issues.”

Seeing Tang Song’s confident demeanor, Gao Mengting also breathed a sigh of relief. She had complete trust in her partner.

…

Jinxiu Commerce.

After the senior meeting, three notifications appeared in the employees’ corporate email.

Xu Lin, the former HR director, has been reassigned as the head of Human Resources Planning and Development Department. The new director will join tomorrow.

Chen Yunqiang, the former Director of Technical Support, has resigned. The new manager of the Technical Support Division will start next week.

Tang Song is formally appointed as the company’s technical consultant and assumes the role of CTO, fully responsible for the company’s technical team.

Human Resources & Administration Office.

Xu Lin sat at her desk, dispirited, feeling like a pawn in a game of corporate politics, caught in an unexpected disaster.

Liu Huihui’s eyes sparkled as she hurriedly sent a WeChat message to Tang Song, congratulating him on his promotion and appointment as CTO.

Tian Jing held back from laughing out loud, her mind already running wild with thoughts.

Technical Support Department area.

Du Shaokai felt uneasy, as if he was having a terrible day, unable to believe how things had turned out.

At this point, he could only resign or change positions.

Staying in the Technical Support Department, he might unexpectedly receive a new assignment tomorrow—to independently develop something like Taobao.

Now that Jinxiu Commerce was about to take off, many shareholders and executives wanted to place their people inside, and with the wealthy beauty Tian Jing waiting for him to pursue her, resigning was really hard to accept.

The only option left was to change positions. His uncle was the Vice President in charge of channel business, a position one level higher than Tang Song’s part-time CTO. If he transferred to the Channel Business Department, his uncle surely wouldn’t be able to do anything to him.

Hu Mingli was flushed and trembling with excitement, as if at a peak of emotion.

She immediately raised her phone, captured her colleagues’ reactions, and shared them with Tang Song: “President Tang, as your absolute confidant, I’ll help you supervise the whole team. And don’t worry about Wen Ruan; I’ll share any intel with you immediately.”

After sending the message, she also took a screenshot of the email and shared it in her best friends’ group. She commented: “@Zhuangzhuang, Tang Song is amazing! Now he’s our company’s CTO, my big boss, with a starting salary of 500,000 a year.”

Although she knew Tang Song was wealthy, driving a 400,000 BMW and running his own business, it was nothing compared to being a 25-year-old corporate executive.

With Jinxiu Commerce being a leader in Yan City’s fashion industry, and with the involvement of Smile Capital, Tang Song’s future was boundless.

[Zhang Ziqi: “A 25-year-old CTO, from a wealthy family, tall and handsome, this is already the peak for ordinary people, @Zhuangzhuang, you really hit the jackpot, I’m so jealous.”]

[Zhang Ziqi: “If you get rich, don’t forget us; our futures depend on you covering for us.”]

Hu Mingli gritted her teeth and replied, “Zhuangzhuang, you better not forget, I introduced him to you! You guys owe me!”

As she approached 28, the ideal age for marriage and childbearing, she was just a lowly technical staffer, making finding future jobs particularly difficult.

Without the skills or connections to switch to management, she was always anxious.

Her friends, Wen Ruan and Zhang Ziqi, who were about the same age, shared this anxiety.

Now that hope was in sight, how could she not be excited.

“Ding-dong—”

[Wen Ruan: “I’m going home to change clothes.”]
