Chapter 3972: The Seven Souls Awaken

The violent storm of energy wreaked havoc inside the Primeval Divine Hall. This was the aftermath from the Divine Formation of the Heavens. Just the power of the aftermath posed a significant threat to some early Immortal Exalts.

Jian Chen did not face the aftermath directly. He stood far away, using the Primeval Divine Hall’s power and the divine hall’s toughness to mitigate this storm of energy.

The Primeval Divine Hall was a sovereign god artifact after all. Even though the Divine Formation of the Heavens had strengthened substantially, it still could not cause any damage to the Primeval Divine Hall.

After launching two consecutive strikes, the Divine Formation of the Heavens finally dimmed, but despite that, the fifty thousand Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortals who assembled the formation did not completely exhaust their energy. Around twenty percent of it still remained.

This result made Jian Chen smile uncontrollably.

In the past, all of the Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortals would run out of energy after launching a single strike.

But now, even after two attacks, these Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortals still had power left over.

This was a huge improvement.

“Sect master, the Divine Formation of the Heavens is now truly capable of both offence and defence. As long as the formation is operating, its defences are so powerful that even I would struggle to breach it at my peak.” The Thousand Soul Demon Exalt’s voice was filled with undisguised joy as well. As one of the crucial members for assembling the formation, he obviously wished that the formation could be as powerful as possible.

Jian Chen looked at the Divine Formation of the Heavens assembled by all the disciples. He understood that the reason why the Divine Formation of the Heavens had strengthened so much was due to assembling all fifty thousand Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortals. It was equivalent to fulfilling a basic requirement of the Divine Formation of the Heavens, unlocking some of its powers.

Even if one of the Nine-heavenly Xuan Immortals were missing, the Divine Formation of the Heavens could not launch a second strike.

In the future, as the number of Immortal Monarchs, Immortal Emperors, and Immortal Exalts increased, the Divine Formation of the Heavens would gradually demonstrate its terrifying might as a Grand Exalt’s formation.

At this moment, Jian Chen suddenly felt a tremble in his soul. When he experienced this sensation, his eyes immediately narrowed. As if a distant memory had overtaken him, the depths of his eyes were filled with recollection and mixed feelings.

In the next moment, his consciousness immediately entered his soul. In the centre of his expansive sea of consciousness, the twin swords, the Primeval artifact spirit, and the Source of Life united their strength to suppress the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s soul. His soul only managed to guard a small region. He seemed like he was no longer capable of fighting back.

Seven extremely tiny specks of light hovered in an extremely remote location in Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness.

Jian Chen stared at the seven specks of light and gradually became surprised.

Back when he was on the Desolate Plane of the forty-nine great planes of the Saints’ World, he had encountered the remains of eight experts deep underground. Moreover, he had obtained eight golden cores of laws from the lingering wills of these eight experts.

The seven specks of light were the souls left behind by seven of the experts.

By now, with Jian Chen’s current insights, how could he not tell what the seven souls were trying to do?

They used the golden core of laws as a cover to silently infiltrate his sea of consciousness. They were actually waiting to be reborn once their souls had recovered.

This method of rebirth would be extremely harmful to the host. Perhaps it would be possession where they directly occupied his body.

In the past, the souls of the seven experts were extremely feeble. They were forced to fall into a deep slumber. Now, they finally seemed to recover enough power, showing signs of awakening.

Jian Chen was completely different from before. As a result, even when the seven foreign souls only showed signs of awakening, Jian Chen sensed it immediately.

“You’re the one awakening first, but you’re only showing some signs of awakening right now. It’ll probably take a little longer before you completely awaken. Whatever, let me lend you a hand so you awaken sooner.” Jian Chen looked at one of the specks of light. Afterwards, he ingested a heavenly resource for healing the soul without any hesitation. However, he did not absorb any of the heavenly resource’s tremendous power. Instead, he channelled it entirely into the soul that was about to awaken.

The mid grade God Tier heavenly resource was highly beneficial to the soul. After absorbing the tremendous power, the soul strengthened at a visible rate.

Despite that, their souls were still extremely feeble in Jian Chen’s eyes, so feeble that he could destroy them at whim.

“I’ve finally awakened… but… who am I? And where is this?”

At this moment, a murmur rang out from the soul that had just awakened. It was filled with confusion.

Among the seven specks of light hovering in Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness, one of them had vanished silently. They had turned into an illusionary, miniature figure.

It was a miniature figure because it was only the size of a hand.

As the miniature figure consolidated, her figure gradually cleared up as well. It was possible to make out her delicate facial features.

She was a woman with alluring beauty. She possessed a glistening pair of golden wings on her back. As she unfurled her wings, a golden halo expanded from her. She seemed like a holy existence.

Jian Chen immediately recalled the female creature that stood three hundred metres tall that he had seen in the underground cavern on the Desolate Plane. Back then, she seemed indomitable, wrapped in undefeatable battle intent. She was a living war goddess.

Jian Chen said nothing. He simply observed her quietly.

The winged woman furrowed her brows and racked her brains. Having just awoken from her slumber, she did not seem to recall the past yet. Her eyes were filled with confusion and doubt, studying the surroundings at times while also looking down at her own body.

Only after a good while did she finally seem to remember her identity. Her empty eyes shone brightly as she smiled faintly.

“I… see… I didn’t think our plan would actually succeed. We actually managed to break free from the shackles and avoid a fate of death through this method, earning ourselves a second life. I just wonder how much time I was asleep for,” the woman murmured. She felt like there was something very important that she had not remembered yet. Right when she was about to think about it, she subconsciously noticed the six other specks of light beside her.

Her attention was immediately drawn away by the six souls. When she discovered how feeble the six others were, having yet to awaken, she was overjoyed.

In the next moment, her soul turned into a ball of mist and immediately enveloped one of the souls. Right when she tried to devour it, rings of ancient patterns appeared on the soul. They were very profound, filled with the truths of the ways.

“An oath of ways?” The woman was surprised. Only then did she remember and say regretfully, “I see now. Back then, we all swore an oath of ways to not turn on one another before we had recovered our bodies and returned to Grand Primes. Those who break the oath will have their souls destroyed.”

“The reason why I agreed to an oath like this back then was to prevent them from moving against me. I didn’t think it would end up holding me back instead. A pity, a pity…”

“Oh right, there was the kid who originally inherited my golden core of laws. I wonder what his cultivation is. He should have reached Infinite Prime, right?”

Only at this moment did the woman seem to awaken completely. She recalled everything that had happened in the past. When she looked at the sea of consciousness again, her face immediately changed drastically. She cried out subconsciously, “This is his soul? Impossible, how can the kid’s soul be so powerful!?”
