Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Before Parting

The man’s hands were warm as they massaged her small foot, sending a pleasant, tingling sensation through Han Biwei.

’But... but this isn’t the right place for this.’

Her face was as red as an apple. She struggled, pressing her hands against Qin Tianxuan’s shoulders. ”Brother Tianxuan, please don’t. Everyone is watching.”

Qin Tianxuan rubbed his palms together to warm them and continued to massage her sprained ankle. ”What does it have to do with them? Don’t underestimate a sprain. On the battlefield, we have to treat an injury like this on the spot. Sometimes it swells up so badly you have to resort to bloodletting.”

Han Biwei stopped struggling. She reached out and stroked his hair, her heart overflowing with happiness.

Qin Tianxuan picked up one of the flats and gently slipped it onto her foot, then did the same with the other.

The other diners in the restaurant were staring, wide-eyed. Some were annoyed. ’Tch, get a room. So shameless, showing off like that in a restaurant!’

But some of the younger women had stars in their eyes. ’That’s so romantic! I want to find a boyfriend just like him.’

In the bustling restaurant, a place full of people coming and going.

A handsome man knelt on the floor, personally changing shoes for the woman he loved.

What a beautiful scene.

It was something you’d only see in a TV drama.

Wang Xiaoshuang’s eyes were practically heart-shaped as she watched, her own heart fluttering in delight.

But as for Liu Shuai, his face was absolutely thunderous.

’Damn it! A moment ago, she wouldn’t even accept the shrimp I offered her, and now she’s letting some other guy touch her feet and change her shoes? What a disgusting woman!’

Watching Qin Tianxuan swap out the six-million-yuan heels and carefully place them in a bag, Liu Shuai felt his heart bleed with every movement.

’Where the hell did this guy pop out from?’

’Trying to steal a sugar mama from me? I can’t let this stand. Absolutely not!’

Liu Shuai shot up from his seat, slammed his tray down, and stormed out. He found a few of his cronies and had them wait with him outside the restaurant, ready to block the exit.

Back in the restaurant, Qin Tianxuan washed his hands and sat down to eat with Han Biwei.

Not wanting to be a third wheel, Wang Xiaoshuang just smiled and waited at a nearby table.

”I’ve settled Niannian’s schooling,” Qin Tianxuan said. ”Su City is about to build an elementary school affiliated with the Battle Department, run by Longding Academy. Once she’s in, she’ll be on a direct track to the Battle Department College!”

Han Biwei was overjoyed. ”Brother Tianxuan, can our Niannian really get in? That’s the Battle Department College we’re talking about!”

Qin Tianxuan smiled. ”It’s no problem. That’s why it’s fine for Niannian to stay in a regular class for now.”

Han Biwei clasped her hands together piously. ”I just want Niannian to grow up happy and healthy, to become an independent person. Only then can I feel like I’ve done right by Sister Shuanghua.”

Qin Tianxuan’s expression dimmed. ”I failed Shuanghua in so many ways. I’m lucky you’re here to raise Niannian. I truly don’t know how I can ever repay you.”

Han Biwei took his hand. ”Brother Tianxuan, I’ll get angry if you keep talking like that. We’re family.”

They already shared a deep, unspoken understanding. Some things didn’t need to be said.

Qin Tianxuan smiled and gently pulled his hand away. ”Take the afternoon off from work. Get Niannian out of school, too. I’m taking the two of you out for some fun.”

”I don’t know, Brother Tianxuan. I just started this job, and Niannian has exams coming up...”

Qin Tianxuan looked down, cutting her off. ”I have to leave tomorrow. I’m deploying with the Battle Department.”

CLATTER. The chopsticks in Han Biwei’s hand fell to the floor.

Her face went pale as she picked them up and wiped them furiously. ’Dropping chopsticks... what kind of omen is that?’

’It’s a terrible omen.’

Seeing how nervous she was, Qin Tianxuan couldn’t help but shake his head. ”Victory in this battle is certain, and I will definitely come back safely. But don’t tell Niannian the truth. Just say I’ll be gone for a few days, alright?”

”Mm...” The happiness Han Biwei had felt just moments before vanished, leaving a hollow ache in her heart.

She didn’t know when it had happened, but the man in front of her had completely captured her heart.

Now that he was leaving, she felt utterly empty inside.

”Finish your meal, then go ask for time off. Just let Wang Xiaoshuang know.” Qin Tianxuan gently wiped her mouth. ”Don’t worry. I’ll be fine.”

Crestfallen, Han Biwei couldn’t eat much more. She got up, grabbed Wang Xiaoshuang, and hurried off to request her leave of absence.

Qin Tianxuan watched her go, sighed inwardly, and stood up as well.

The restaurant was mostly empty by now. He walked slowly toward the entrance, about to contact the Northern Domain, when several men moved to block his path.

It was Liu Shuai and his cronies.

’Hm?’

Qin Tianxuan stuck his hands in his pockets. ”What do you want?”

”What do we want?”

Liu Shuai tossed his hair and wagged a finger in Qin Tianxuan’s face. ”I saw the whole thing. You took a pair of cheap flats and swapped them for Miss Han’s six-million-yuan high heels.”

Qin Tianxuan was speechless. ”Look closer, dumbass. I don’t have the shoes. The box is still in the restaurant. If you’ve got the guts, go get them yourself!”

Liu Shuai was stunned. It was true.

His embarrassment quickly turned to rage. ”Bullshit! You think I’m here for the shoes? I just can’t stand you! Now you listen to me, Han Biwei is as good as mine, so don’t even think about competing with me!”

Qin Tianxuan’s eyes turned cold. Without a word, he took a step forward.

Liu Shuai was intimidated by his presence and backed away hastily. ”What, are you going to hit me? We’re all reasonable people here. If you want to be a sugar baby, you should at least take a good look in the mirror!”

THUD!

Qin Tianxuan sent him flying with a single kick.

Liu Shuai’s body bounced like a rubber ball, rolling across the corridor before he could scramble back to his feet.

The cronies he had brought with him were terrified. They lost all courage to fight and just stood there yelling.

”What is going on here?!” a sharp voice bellowed.

Chen Haobei, the President of the Group, appeared alongside the stunning President Alice.

Liu Shuai struggled to his feet and pointed at Qin Tianxuan, stammering incoherently. The pain in his stomach was so intense his face was contorted.

His cronies also pointed at Qin Tianxuan, accusing him of attacking someone without provocation.

Chen Haobei and Alice’s faces were livid. They strode forward, and each delivered a stinging slap to one of the accusers.

Then, the two of them bowed deeply to Qin Tianxuan. ”Our apologies, sir. It seems our company’s internal discipline is in need of some serious rectification!”

Qin Tianxuan’s expression was dark. ”The shoes are in the restaurant. Alice, go get them. As for this trash...” He glared at Liu Shuai and his friends. ”What do they take my Weiwei for? A sugar mama? Him?” He scoffed. ”Is he even worthy of the thought?”

He turned and walked away, leaving the two presidents behind, sweating bullets.
