CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows

The agonized screech of the Flame Demon reverberated off the ancient temple pillars, sending violent ripples across the liquid obsidian sea.

Caius did not flinch beneath the blistering wave of heat. He held his grip on the slender blade with unyielding resolve, driving the needle deeper into the construct’s furrowed forehead until a single, brilliant thread of Crown mana fused directly into its crown point. Dark, liquid fire erupted around the point of impact, searing the spiritual air with a violent hiss, but as the obsidian thread locked firmly into place, a sudden surge of ancient, chaotic memories burst through the conduit and flooded Caius’s mind like an open floodgate.

In a fraction of a second, Caius witnessed the entity’s entire existence. He saw the violent, primal birth of the Flame Demon within a jagged volcanic rift under a blood-red sky, watching it consume lesser spirits to grow in immense power and size. He watched its centuries of mindless slaughter across forgotten planes, ending abruptly in a desperate, chaotic battle where its physical body was finally torn apart and its soul condensed into a raw essence bead.

Then came a much more recent vision: a dark elf warrior stumbling upon the glowing ember bead by sheer accident in a damp subterranean vault. Lacking a true Crown Core of his own, the dark elf had forcefully and artificially embedded the bead directly into his own crown point. That crude, desperate fusion was precisely why the dark elf Caius had slain back in the cavern possessed such strange, volatile flame mana.

So that’s why, Caius realized, the lingering mystery solving itself in an instant. The dark elf I killed didn’t have a true Crown Core at all—he was just leeching off the raw essence bead implanted in his flesh.

With the truth exposed, the liquid obsidian thread began to purify the connection with ruthless efficiency. Like ink dissolving swiftly in clear water, the memories were rapidly consumed by the Crown Core’s dark, devouring energy. Caius watched in silent fascination as the visions shattered, peeling away layer by layer until every trace of the demon’s former life, ego, and past identity was wiped completely clean. Nothing remained inside its mind except its rawest, most primal foundation: the pure, unadulterated instinct to feed and to battle.

The demon’s molten eyes slowly lost their wild, rebellious glare. Its massive, towering frame relaxed, its heavy shoulders slumping against the stone floor. The burning, volatile heat of its essence cooled into a steady, disciplined pulse that matched the rhythmic, pulsing rotation of Caius’s Crown Core.

Through the single black thread now extending from his outstretched hand to the demon’s crown point, Caius felt an absolute, unyielding connection form in the space between them. It was not just control, for it was complete spatial alignment.

Caius turned his head slightly toward the male Arachne warrior standing rigidly nearby.

The spider-like beast was staring intently at the new thread, its multi-faceted eyes reflecting the dark light. Deep within the Arachne’s own crown point, an identical black thread pulsed in perfect harmony with the demon’s. The connection went far beyond mere obedience; the thread stripped away every lingering trace of feral resistance, making the male warrior entirely docile to Caius’s singular will. He lowered his heavily armored thorax to the stone, bowing his head in total submission without Caius having to utter a single command.

Across the dark shore, the Arachne princess hissed softly in her binding circle, her eyes wide with a turbulent mixture of terror and dark desire as she witnessed the absolute dominion Caius held over the two tethered entities.

Caius drew his conscious mind back from the needle, letting the obsidian thread remain deeply anchored within the Flame Demon.

The demon stood up slowly from the stone. The exhaustion and wounds from the previous day’s failures seemed to mend instantly as the rich, dark mana from Caius’s core flowed directly through the newly forged bridge. It no longer looked at Caius with dread or ancient malice. Hollowed out and reborn, it bowed its massive, horned head, awaiting its master’s ultimate command.

The key is forged,

Caius thought, looking at the two glowing threads connecting his soul to the entities.

The essence beads on the nine-holed spiral table acted as the anchor inside the core, while these obsidian threads served as the resonance keys to translate their physical mass into reality. The invisible wall at the boundary of his soul sea had finally been bypassed.
