Watching all of this, a strange emotion couldn’t help but rise from deep within Wei Yang’s heart.

This power! So, I’ve already become this strong? Strong enough to go toe-to-toe with Zhu Kun?

That realization made him throw his head back and laugh uncontrollably.

”Ha ha! Hahahaha! Hahahahahaha~!”

His laughter rumbled like thunder, wild and unrestrained, echoing across the dark void.

This kind of strength—it was intoxicating!

At this very moment, he stood at the pinnacle of the continent.

”Zhu Kun! Come, fight!”

Wei Yang shouted, his voice full of unshakable confidence. ”Once I defeat you, I’ll go deal with that bastard Hun Tiandi, then absorb the Origin Qi, ascend as an Emperor, and head to the Great Thousand World to battle the Extraterrestrial Evil Clan! Hahahaha!”

”You arrogant brat! Think you can defeat me? This Emperor hasn’t even used his full strength yet!” The giant dragon roared, thrusting out its massive claw.

”Then come!” Wei Yang met the attack with a palm strike of his own.

Roar!Boom!

From within the endless darkness, terrifying shockwaves of energy surged wildly, sweeping through the void.

Space itself no longer existed here.

A majestic dragon, its entire body gleaming like molten metal, stretched endlessly across the void, roaring and thrashing as it chased a massive black sun. That black sun, tens of thousands of meters in diameter, blazed with searing dark flames that seemed capable of burning all of creation.

Endless beams of black light erupted outward, transforming the surrounding ten-thousand-zhang region into an absolute domain.

Crackle!

Countless bolts of black lightning streaked through the darkness, striking furiously at the dragon, drawing roars of pain. Within the black sun stood a towering figure nearly ten thousand meters tall.

Its scaled hands extended out from the burning sphere, slamming violently against the dragon’s claws. Each collision caused the recently repaired space to collapse once more, silently disintegrating into deep black voids.

Scarlet blood and streaks of purple-gold blood splattered into the void.

Every single drop of that blood brimmed with terrifyingly pure energy—enough that even one drop could alter an ordinary person’s fate and make them a powerful expert in mere moments. Yet here, in this desolate dark void, such blood spilled like it was worthless, scattered without a care.

The cataclysmic battle had already lasted who knows how long. Both sides had long gone past testing each other’s strength; now they fought in sheer fury. It was no longer a mere contest—it had become a battle to the death.

At this point, neither side was willing to yield.

Slash!

A claw ripped across the dragon’s body, tearing open five deep, ferocious gashes.

Wei Yang flung aside the shreds of flesh stuck to his fingers, his face curling into a cold grin. ”Zhu Kun, you’re no match for me. Admit defeat!”

Roar!

The dragon’s bloodshot eyes glared fiercely as it swiped again. ”Silence, brat! When this Emperor roamed the world, you weren’t even born yet!”

Wei Yang struck out with his palm again, sending the massive claw flying back.

Seeing the countless cracks now webbing across the dragon’s scales, he frowned. ”Zhu Kun, why be so stubborn? Strength is strength—if you’re not strong enough, just admit it. Keep fighting like this, and you’ll die!”

”Hahaha! Boy, are you pitying me? Save your mercy!”

The dragon let out a booming laugh and lunged forward again. ”Your words insult this Emperor! Don’t hold back any longer! I’d rather die gloriously in battle than bow to a mere junior not even a hundred years old! Come! I would rather die!”

”So that’s how it is? You’d rather die than accept defeat?” Wei Yang murmured, a terrifying pressure radiating from his body, shaking the heavens themselves.

”In that case, I’ll grant your wish.”

As he spoke, the crimson glow in his eyes deepened further. Yet he didn’t even notice the change—his grin only grew more twisted, carrying a faint trace of madness.

”Then let me turn you into a stepping stone on my path to becoming an Emperor.”

”But you won’t be alone. After you, it’ll be Hun Tiandi’s turn!”

”I, Wei Yang, am destined to become the strongest existence in all the heavens and earth! Whoever stands in my way—dies! Hahahahaha!”

”Die! Die! Die!”

Wei Yang no longer held back, unleashing a flurry of frenzied attacks.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Dark claw marks slashed across the void, lingering long after.

Claw Rending Void!

Purple-gold blood sprayed through the air as shattered dragon scales and torn flesh scattered across the blackened world. A series of deep, painful roars echoed through the dark void as blood flowed like rivers.

Within just a few short minutes, the battle finally began to die down. The enormous dragon’s aura grew faint. Its massive body collapsed in the void, barely clinging to life. Those once-proud dragon eyes, filled with crimson light, were now dimming rapidly.

”Young one, you win...” the dragon murmured weakly.

Its eyelids slowly drooped shut, completely closing. The black sun vanished, and Wei Yang’s figure appeared before the dragon’s head, looking down at it.

At this moment, his eyes were completely filled with blood-red light, like two blazing suns burning within their sockets.

The black sun pattern on his forehead was now tainted with a deep, bloody hue. A violent and murderous intent filled his heart, twisting his expression into something almost demonic.

”I never wanted to kill you... you forced me to!” he said quietly.

As he stared at the enormous dragon eyes that had completely shut, and felt the faint traces of life dissipating from its body, Wei Yang’s face grew even more distorted and savage.

Turning his head toward the blood-soaked darkness around him, he muttered to himself, ”There’s still one more... Hun Tiandi. Once I kill him, I can ascend and become an Emperor. Hmm, maybe I’ll also kill Gu Yuan and Nihility Devouring Flame while I’m at it.”

As he spoke, his voice suddenly stopped.

Staring at the desolate, bloodstained void, the twisted madness on his face faded, replaced by a trace of confusion. Somewhere deep down, he felt that something was wrong. He shouldn’t be acting like this.

But his mind was a chaotic mess, tangled like a lump of sticky paste—he couldn’t think clearly at all. He just stood there in a daze for a long moment. Then, Wei Yang prepared to move—to find Hun Tiandi first and deal with him.

However, just as he lifted his foot, a few exceptionally familiar faces suddenly flashed across his mind.

”Xian’er, Qing Lin, Ye’er, Shuo’er, Master... Xiao Yan.”

Buzz~

Wei Yang’s entire body trembled violently. The blood-red light in his eyes began to fade.

”Get out of my head!”

With a thunderous shout, the chaotic memories and strange, intrusive thoughts in his mind shattered and scattered instantly. As they vanished, the crimson in his eyes also disappeared completely, restoring his clear and steady gaze.

”What’s going on?”

After a brief moment of silence, his face darkened completely.

”An illusion?” He lowered his head, staring at his own hands. The overwhelming sensation of power he’d felt moments ago receded like a tide.

”Almost got caught in the gutter,” he muttered coldly.

Wei Yang slowly raised his head, gazing at the vast, desolate void before him. ”As expected of the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree... such a realistic illusion. I almost lost myself in it. What a terrifying trick!”

”That kind of power was indeed intoxicating—and it is the power I seek—but unfortunately, falsehood is still falsehood. Besides, trying to make me lose myself with nothing more than a peak Dou Sheng-level illusion... you underestimate me far too much.”

Though he said that calmly, a faint chill still lingered in his heart. He had been this close to falling for it.

Now he finally understood why there were so many Ban Sheng Puppets lying around. Those poor souls must have completely fallen into the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree’s illusion, their souls lost, turning them into mindless husks.

Letting out a long breath, Wei Yang calmed his thoughts and said indifferently, ”I know you’re watching me. Stop playing tricks. Come out and face me.”

As soon as his words fell, the world around him began to twist and quake violently. Then, like a shattering mirror—bang!—the illusion completely exploded and crumbled into nothingness.
