Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 787: Chapter 347: Abyssal Game_2

His perspective underwent a 180-degree rotation, and when he came to his senses, his gaze had already returned to the room. The tree roots previously exposed above ground were now buried underground, and the trunk, branches, and leaves originally underground appeared on the surface.

Kristen had somehow already arrived behind him and said:

”I think this form is easier for you to understand.”

”The Abyss you can perceive is just a section carved out separately, like a tree in a forest. This tree belongs to the forest, but it is not the forest itself.”

”From the beginning, I never said that everything you did affected the entire Abyss. What you can influence is only the tree where you reside.”

”You seem to call it the Crimson Courtyard.”

Wu Chang seemed to realize something and said:

”The Abyss Fourth Layer actually represents different parts of this tree?”

Kristen said, ”You can understand it that way.”

Wu Chang looked at the large tree before him and said:

”But there’s something still unexplained. Even if the Abyss we can influence is just a small part, like this tree in front of us.”

”What role does the Pillar of the Present World play in the tree? Didn’t this tree divide into regions before the Pillar of the Present World existed?”

Kristen looked at Wu Chang with a hint of appreciation in her eyes. What she explained was not difficult to understand, but in reality, it was treacherous.

For whether it was the construction of the Abyssal Game or the essence of the Abyss, it all involved the secrets of the world.

For instance, the fruit tree she condensed in front of Wu Chang was just an ordinary projection, hiding no malice.

But when she equated this projection with the Abyssal Game, and Wu Chang agreed with this perspective, the existence of the projection would resonate with the Abyss, transitioning from a mere projection of a fruit tree to a true projection of the Abyss.

Although the Abyss projection before them was limited to the scope of their discussion, its peril could not be underestimated, especially for Transcendents like the players of the Abyssal Game.

If the Will and Inspiration are not firm enough, one might encounter things one shouldn’t see while tracing the roots to the leaves.

Such an existence is no less than witnessing the True Divine Body of a God; a slight recklessness can lead to mental collapse.

The fact that Wu Chang could witness everything without any change in spirit indicated that the strength of his Life was now sufficient to unravel the truth he craved.

Since that was the case, Kristen didn’t mind saying a bit more. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

She pointed at the large tree in front of them and asked:

”When you see a large tree in reality, is there an intermediate layer between the roots and the trunk to separate the two regions, ensuring they are distinctly divided?”

Wu Chang shook his head because it wasn’t the case, which is why he found it hard to understand.

Kristen said:

”That’s right, just as there are no clear separations in trees of nature, the real Abyss inherently connects the four layers without divisions.”

”And the reason why the Abyss Fourth Layer exists in such distinct divisions in your area is because it was meticulously designed by some entity.”

Upon hearing this, Wu Chang suddenly remembered the place they had entered was called the Abyssal Game.

The word ”game” from the very beginning implied that everything they were experiencing was the creation of some powerful being, not something natural.

Kristen continued:

”Perhaps to protect you, the creator of this tree crafted special barriers between the layers of the Abyss to separate you.”

”This ensures that while you are fragile, you won’t mistakenly venture into the depths of the Abyss, and it also ensures that if an entity from the depths wants to influence you, it must overcome numerous obstacles.”

In her description, the previously naturally connected parts of the large tree extended half-meter high transitional sections at the connecting portions.

To let Wu Chang see clearly, the transitional regions emitted a faint glow.

These glowing areas are the intermediate layers in the Abyssal Game.

Wu Chang now understood that the so-called intermediate layers, plane barriers, were all the handiwork of the Abyssal Game creator.

Previously he felt that everything about the Abyss was heavily designed, such as the Desolate Realm’s level cap at Level 30 and the attributes exceeding 200 points would meet Desolate Realm restrictions, with more layers added every 100 points thereafter.

If everything was a man-made setting, then it all made sense.

Kristen continued:

”The tree you reside in, because it was designed by humans, didn’t require any support at the beginning and could still maintain its stratification.”

”But as the number of outsiders like you, who call yourselves players, increased, the erosion of the Abyss was brought into the intermediate layers, which were eroded and found it difficult to support the division between the Desolate Realm and the Realm of Reason.”

As Kristen elaborated, parts of the intermediate layer began to decay, with large holes appearing.

Some enormous tree holes directly pierced the tree trunk, allowing one to see the other side through the holes.

The heavily perforated tree became unstable.

Wu Chang saw something vaguely wriggling in the tree holes and leaned forward, laying down to look at the voids in the intermediate layer between the roots and the trunk.

The surface of the tree roots began to wriggle, with roots growing upwards, entering the intermediate layer, attempting to connect with the trunk.

The parts entering the intermediate layer turned from wood to steel under the influence of a special Power.

The steel bars traversed the intermediate layer and drilled into the trunk. With the support of the steel bars, the previously wavering large tree stabilized once again.

Kristen said:

”When the intermediate layer is severely eroded and unable to independently support the divisions of the Abyss, the Pillar of the Present World, endowed with temporary management authority, is required to assist in upholding the existence of the intermediate layer.”
