Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 686: Chapter 313: The Last Request

Wu Chang opened the door, and two familiar faces stood outside.

One of them was Mavira, whom he had met last night. Wu Chang had planned to find time today to return the pendant to her and inquire about Amber, but he didn’t expect her to come looking for him first.

As for the second person who came with Mavira, it surprised Wu Chang a bit. How did Grace end up teaming up with Mavira?

Speaking of which, ever since the faceless ghost incident at the old campus, he hadn’t seen Grace for some time.

After organizing several beach volleyball games, Grace was now tanned to a wheat skin color, matching her tall figure. If you overlook her still somewhat youthful face, she could definitely be mistaken for a supermodel.

You could tell the faceless ghost had a significant impact on her, causing her to cut her long hair into a neat short style.

Both of them were old acquaintances, one had just helped him, and the other was a friend of Amber. Wu Chang stepped aside, inviting them into his home.

”You’re just in time; I’m preparing breakfast. Would you like to join me?”

Grace immediately said, ”Yes!”

Next to her, Mavira glared at her, and Grace immediately shrank back, showing an innocent smile.

Mavira looked at Wu Chang and said with a serious expression, ”Mr. Sean, we came to see you for serious business. Could we find a place to talk privately?”

Privately?

Wu Chang was about to say this was his house and there’s nothing to hide from others, but he caught Mavira’s glance towards the master bedroom and instantly understood her intent.

”Come with me to the study,” he said.

The three entered the study, and Wu Chang brought two chairs for them, then asked:

”What is it you need to discuss that has to be kept from Amber?”

Mavira remained silent, her eyes turning to Grace.

Grace cleared her throat, stood up from her chair, then suddenly lunged to hug Wu Chang tightly.

Wu Chang: ?

What on earth is going on?

Wu Chang felt a bit paralyzed; he knew Grace had a crush on him and was a fan of his fighting style, but neither the law nor his own preferences allowed him to pursue someone her age.

He shouted to Mavira, ”Ms. Mavira, don’t just stand there, do something!”

Mavira maintained a serious face, as if she hadn’t seen the improper scene unfolding.

Grace, hugging Wu Chang, said:

”Why are you struggling? Isn’t this what you wanted?”

Wu Chang, panicked, said to Grace, ”Stop saying nonsense just because you’re young. If this gets out, it’ll be a social death for me!”

Grace, puzzled, asked:

”But last time we met, you clearly said if I approached you as a tanned, short-haired, sporty girl, you’d consider my request.”

Wu Chang instinctively denied, ”When did I ever...”

Halfway through his denial, he suddenly realized the words indeed sounded familiar, as if he had said them before.

He searched his memory, trying to recall the scene where he said that.

In a daze, an image appeared in his mind.

He stood on a desolate moon, with a giant tree that shouldn’t exist growing beside him. Underneath, an old man wanted him to eat the tree’s fruit, insisting they merge together.

His response to the old man was:

”If you approached me with the appearance of a tanned, short-haired, sporty girl, I might consider it. Saying such things in your current form only disgusts me.”

The image in his mind faded, and the old man’s face turned into Grace’s as she looked up at him, holding his body.

He remembered now; that was during the final stage of the Midnight Graveyard Dungeon, on the Miracle Moon, where he had said such words to the Great Sage who had become the Miracle Walker.

”Are you a Miracle Walker?!”

Grace nodded and said:

”I’ve already chosen an appearance according to your preferences, so can we have a proper talk now?”

Wu Chang shook his head and said:

”Firstly, by sporty girl, I meant an adult. Secondly, there’s nothing for us to discuss; I’m not merging with you.”

If not for the fact he confirmed Grace and Mavira meant no harm and had helped him before, he would’ve thrown them into the Blind Abyss by now.

Grace said:

”What a pity, can’t we just ask Mavira to cut her hair short? She’s sporty too.”

Wu Chang shook his head again, ”That’s not the point. If you’re here for that, then I’ll have to see you out.”

Grace sighed, then said playfully:

”Alright, I won’t tease you anymore. We didn’t come to merge with you, but to ask for your help with something.”

Wu Chang’s expression softened. If they were just asking for help, then there was room for discussion.

After all, if they were Miracle Walkers, then the Primordial Spirit Core Gate they carried couldn’t be a coincidence.

The All-Knowing Crystal craved that Primordial Spirit Core but couldn’t find its source, whereas the Miracle Walkers had intel, yet could not fully collect it.

Cooperation between the two sides, even a fifty-fifty split, was possible.

Not to mention he still had many questions to ask them regarding Amber.

”What do you need my help with?”

Grace became serious and said:

”I want to ask you to defeat this plane’s strongest monster so that Amber can awaken and the plane can ascend!”
