Chapter 833: Chapter 816: Phidias

It turns out that while Lann was adventuring in various otherworlds, Cassandra’s life was equally legendary.

Now, not only is the Order Divine Teachings deeply rooted in the Greek Region, but the Ancient Guardians, who seem to have taken control of the Persian Empire, have also emerged.

The size of the Persian Empire is not on the same level as the Greek Region. It was the first empire in human history to span three continental plates: Asia, Europe, and Africa.

In this embryonic era of human civilization, it may not be the ”strongest,” but it is undoubtedly the ”largest.”

The Elder Race, along with the artifacts they left behind, have introduced too many variables into this world that seems both familiar and elusive to Lann.

”But it looks like the place you went to was indeed quite novel.”

Cassandra pointed her thumb behind her, looking at Lann.

”A cat in armor carrying two swords?”

”I just saw marks on the bodies of those two dogs that indeed looked like it carried a sword on its back. Does it really know how to use a sword?”

Cassandra’s words made the timid Rong Buqiu, trailing behind, raise a small paw.

”Meow... I’m not a cat; I’m an Elu Cat meow.”

The cat’s nasal voice made Cassandra widen her eyes and turn her head, staring at Rong Buqiu in astonishment.

It was the first time she had heard a cat talk.

Cassandra walked over to Rong Buqiu, lifted it up in front of her with her hands under its armpits.

”A talking cat!? Lann, is this some kind of... Divine Beast? Magical Beast? What’s it called?”

Rong Buqiu’s little legs fluttered in the air, but it couldn’t counter Cassandra’s arms and could only cast large, pleading eyes at Lann.

”It just introduced itself.” Lann walked over, took Rong Buqiu from Cassandra’s hands, and placed it back on the ground.

Cassandra then put her hands on her hips, continuing to watch it curiously.

”Rong Buqiu is a member of a race called Elu Cat, an intelligent little Cat People. It’s more akin to my attendant now. I teach it skills, and it follows to help me. It’s a friend, not a pet.”

”Don’t stare so hard. It’s getting a bit shy. There will be more strange things to see in the future.”

”That’s true.” Cassandra kept her hands on her strong waist, but her gaze shifted from the small cat to Lann.

”It seems like the days ahead will be exciting... Ha, I love it this way!”

”If you were to bring this little cat onto the ship now, Barnabas might just set up an altar for you straight away.”

Lann raised his eyes and thought of the passionate, loyal, and straightforward old captain, who was also very devout to the gods... he probably would really do such a thing.

The Demon Hunter shook his head.

”Then I think it’s better to stay in Athens...”

Talking about Athens brought a serious look back to both Lann and Cassandra’s faces.

The romantic ambiance and joy of their reunion had, for a moment, overshadowed the current dire situation in Athens.

But now, the topic was brought back to the forefront.

”I came over this time to seek your help. Do you remember the Life Cross we obtained last time? I need your assistance to get it working.”

Lann, while watching the yellowish smoke and ash in the sky, spoke to Cassandra.

”I don’t want us to use the Ishu Divine Artifact while the surrounding environment is so unstable.”

”We could go and see Pericles,” Cassandra nodded. ”Now that Athens has become like this, as the Governor, he must know the ins and outs.”

But Lann very straightforwardly dismissed this idea.

”He should be the one who knows best, but I don’t want to get close to someone at the center of a whirlpool right now.”

Lann gestured with his chin towards the sick, wilting people by the roadside.

It needs to be reiterated that the Ancient Greece Era is the early stage of human civilization, and the people here believe that everything is arranged by the gods.

They don’t understand the principles of disease transmission, and most people have no experience, because those who have experienced plagues usually don’t survive.

They don’t even have the concept of ’quarantine.’

After the plague began, the likelihood of leaders gathering the sick and ordinary people together in prayer before a temple was higher than managing them separately.

In the eyes of people today, the increase in the number of sick wasn’t due to the spread of the plague, but rather the large-scale punishment by the gods, affecting many people.

In such a situation, the impassioned Athenians would naturally seek out those in charge.

And who would that be?

Of course, it’s the ’Father of Democracy’ who built the Parthenon Temple, Pericles.

It is conceivable that Pericles’ residence is probably crowded with people right now.

Lann, as a Demon Hunter, is immune to ordinary diseases that aren’t specially engineered.

And seeing those city stray dogs lively, it’s clear this disease does not have interspecies transmission capability, so Rong Buqiu and Icarus are safe.

However, for Cassandra, Lann isn’t sure if her bloodline from the Elder Race makes her immune to all diseases.

In the face of uncertainty, caution is the best approach.

”We need to find someone of certain status who wouldn’t draw people’s attention right now to understand the situation.”

Lann mused aloud.

Cassandra waited with a smile. Lann’s expression gave her a feeling of returning to a year and a half ago when they faced and solved difficulties together.

Soon, Lann came to a conclusion.

”Phidias. We’ll find him.”

A renowned sculptor and artist, who would usually draw quite a bit of attention. But in the face of this great disaster, his influence is undoubtedly much smaller.

At the same time, from past interactions, Lann knows that Phidias and Pericles have a good private relationship, even being part of his inner circle of advisors.

Such a person is definitely more informed about the situation than the general public.

”Phidias? Let me search...”

Upon hearing Lann’s decision, Cassandra’s eyes lost focus, while Icarus, who was always soaring in the sky, let out a cry.

Her vision connected to the eagle’s perspective.

Soon, Icarus found the target in the dim sky.

Cassandra’s vacant gaze refocused.

”He is now in his studio.”

Phidias’ studio needed a lot of high-quality marble imported by sea to Athens, so it wasn’t far from Piraeus Harbor.

”Then let’s go find him.”

Lann said decisively, while sprinting towards the wall of a nearby residential building.

His breathing was adjusted, and with powerful muscles and bones, he climbed directly to the eaves of the two-story house without needing to push off the wall for support.

Then he flipped up onto the roof.

He didn’t want to waste time twisting and turning in the alleys.

Although reuniting with Cassandra in Athens was delightful, Lann hadn’t forgotten one thing—

Phoebe was also still in Athens!
