Chapter 31: Chapter- 31: Battle Arena

After changing our clothes into combat attire, Ian and I got back to the outside of the dormitory and waited for Elena.

These clothes are more suitable for fighting in the battle arena.

”Sorry, did I make you wait?”

Elena asked as she came back in her combat attire covered by a white robe.

”Don’t worry, we have also just got here. Let’s head out, Dalas should be about to arrive”

We headed out of the academy campus, and I can see a carriage with the blue crest of the Shen family arriving. The carriage is big enough to accommodate eight passengers.

Today Dalas is not the acting as a coachman, instead it’s some middle age butler from my family.

The carriage stopped in front of us and two people walked out of it.

The first one was Dalas but the other person was unexpected.

”M-maya? What are you doing here”

Elena asked nervously and I can guess the reason.

”I heard from Sir Dalas that mylady is going to the battle arena, of course I had to come”

Maya’s voice has strictness in it. Elena’s parents must have left her in the capital to keep a check of Elena.

”Her Ladyship just left yesterday. mylady, you should refrain from acting so carefree for a while at least. And I apologize beforehand Lord Kai, but you should also act more responsible.”

*gulp*

I never saw Maya being so strict. Dalas is just standing there like a sculpture without saying anything.

But it is my fault, I should have really been more thoughtful before suggesting the idea.

”You are right miss Maya, sorry for acting irresponsible. I think we should cancel the pla-”

”No wait!”

Elena interjected as I was about to cancel the plan.

”Maya I am sorry, but now that we are already ready and Lily is also waiting for us...can you let go of this once?”

She asked Maya with earnest eyes, like a child asking for permission from an adult.

”Please, I promise we will come back before late”

Yep, the art of emotional blackmail.

”Sigh, alright mylady. I am not here to stop you anyway but next time please inform me before making such plans”

”Okay, I will remember to inform you next time”

I can understand that it must be hard for Maya because she was entrusted by Elena’s parents.

If anything happens to Elena then she might be held responsible. And I also need to be more responsible as Elena’s fiance.

”If everything is good now.....then should we get going?”

Ian who seemed to be blended into the background until now, asked.

”Yes, let’s go. The earlier we go, the earlier we can comeback”

Dalas said as he gestured for us to get into the carriage.

”I also invited lady Hina, but she said that she already has some plans”

Elena said as we were on our way to Lily’s house.

She may probably have plans with Lucian’s group. Their situation is complicated so I don’t want to get involved with them.

”It’s fine, everyone has their own things”

.....

Here we are, at the battle Arena, or more precisely Magic Battle Arena.

Battle Arenas are colossal structures exceeding 100 meters in height.

Its scale can even be said to be a sign of a city’s and nation’s wealth and power. It is a place where magic users and magic knights gather and fight.

The fights are divided according to the Ranked Fighter Badges.

There are Iron, Copper, Silver, Gold and Diamond ranked badges.

To promote from lower level to higher level, the fighters are required to accumulate hundred points each time.

Every victory gives you five points and every lose minus three points. If you lose five consequences battles then you will lose the ten points for the fifth defeat.

The higher the rank of the Fighter Badge, the more money obtained in return.

”Wow! It’s really bigger than the ones in the Murlin and Cerulean”

Elena said in surprise.

This battle arena in the Lothus City is the biggest battle arena in the Yona Kingdom.

”Yes, it’s, and there are probably more fighters here than in any other city. Be more careful”

”Oh and you got your mask, right?”

I asked Elena as I took out my mask and wore it. The mask covered the upper half of my face, it’s to hide my identity.

Most of the fighters from noble families use masks and nicknames to hide their true identities.

”Of course I have”

Elena took out her mask from her storage magic tool bracelet she wore in her left hand.

Ian also wore his mask.

Lily and others are here only to watch, not to participate so they don’t need masks.

The registrations here are carried out extremely simply, the only requirement was to fill out a form including name, age, birthplace, and attribute, and one could receive the first iron rank badge.

Of course, registering required everyone to pay ten gold coins as registration fee.

But we don’t need to register as we are already registered in the battle arena of our home cities.

Three of us signed in for one versus one fights. The staff allotted us time and token numbers.

The first copper bout of today will begin in less than half an hour.

”I just hope I am not paired against you two”

Ian said as he showed us his copper token with number 3 written on it.

The first one among us to enter a battle today is Ian who got allotted the second battle of copper rank.

”Mine is 7”

Elena showed us her copper token with number 7 written on it.

”Don’t worry, you can’t pair against me”

I told them as I showed my silver badge and a silver token with number 2 on it.

”Silver badge!”

Ian and Elena exclaimed while Lily and Maya looked at it in surprise.

”When did you reach silver rank?”

Elena asked curiously.

”Just recently, this will be my third silver rank battle”

”Hmph.... I will quickly need to win ten more battles.”

Elena said with resolution. Her competitive attitude is still the same as ever. I wonder what are her points in the copper rank.

Three of us, me, Ian and Elena, entered one of the waiting areas for the fighters.

The other three, Lily, Dalas and Maya sat in the stands, together with numerous spectators.

These Battle Arenas had even more common people.

Right now the first battle had already evoked excitement, and shouts fell and rose in succession.

”Now for the second battle of the copper rank, we call the fighter no. 3 and 4!”
