Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1096: The Ten Demon Saints

ʼIʼm about to die, huh…ʼ

Aurionʼs body was already showing signs of strain.

His skin, previously radiant, had now started cracking… His fingers also began to tremble as he felt that his body was already dissipating.

The glow in his eyes had already dimmed as the energy from the towers was overwhelming him. Even for a Celestial Being, it was simply too much.

Orden, watching from within the barrier, couldnʼt help but feel sorry for Aurion. They had gotten closer over the past few years, but now, he was already about to meet his end.

”Heʼs reaching his limit.”

Ryzoir nodded grimly. ”Heʼs not supposed to channel all sixteen. Not alone…”

Ash looked up, vines coiling around her arms. ”Then why is he doing it?”

”No one else could… His physique is special, and if we try it, weʼd only last for a few seconds.” Orden muttered.

Still, Aurion didnʼt stop.

He raised both arms, and the sky was covered with divine spears. They rained down across the Chaos fleet and started piercing barriers, rupturing formation barriers, and forcing the Chaos Immortals to scatter.

Kent gritted his teeth. ”Heʼs trying to wipe us out before he burns out.”

Mennena hovered nearby and calmly looked at the 16 Towers…

”Heʼs not trying to win. Heʼs trying to buy some time…”

Deep inside, she was already excited to own those 16 Towers.

She knew about their existence based on the rumors she heard, but this was the first time she had seen them in their full glory.

She didnʼt expect that they would possess such incredible power, and perhaps, she may not even need the Arcana and use these Towers to summon the energy she needed to obtain a body and replace the Will of the Realm.

Soon, Aurionʼs breathing grew heavier.

The light around him started pulsing uncontrollably...

His robes began to disintegrate, and the divine strands within his body were already hurting him..

Soon, he looked at Clovis City… To the Dragons, the other Celestials, the hidden Demon Saints, Magnus, and many others, as he gritted his teeth.

Whom~

Then, his body cracked.

A fracture of light split across his chest, and a burst of energy escaped. He staggered, barely able to stay in the sky…

”Ohhh~” Nyssa whispered. ”Heʼs breaking apart.”

As Aurion knew that his life was about to end, he looked toward the horizon.

Toward the place where Vale would arrive.

He raised his hand one last time.

Soon, a final surge of energy erupted from his body, forming a dome of celestial light that pushed the Chaos Immortals back. It wasnʼt an attack, it was a shield or wall to cover the entire city…

And then, his body began to disintegrate.

Light scattered into the wind.

”That thing is finally dead…” Kent muttered as he felt a little terrified from that power Aurion unleased at the last moment. Thankfully, it was only a defensive wall and not a suicidal attack.

In the end, the power of the sixteen towers was too much for any single being to contain… It had finally consumed him.

With Aurionʼs death, the Chaos Immortals celebrated… Though bloodied and scattered, they were not finished yet

Kent lowered his hand and gave his command… ”Prepare for the next wave.”

Nyssa nodded. ”Weʼll break the city until the real Shadow Immortal arrives. He must be injured or something. Thatʼs why he wasnʼt showing up.”

***

The Chaos Immortals regrouped quickly after Aurionʼs death, as they prepared to break through the celestial barrier that Aurion created aside from the original barrier within the city...

The sky above Clovis was still filled with divine energy, but the Chaos Immortals didnʼt care…

Kent raised his hand. ”Begin the assault. That barrier wonʼt hold forever.”

Nyssa nodded as she began to destabilize the outer edges.

”Weʼll collapse it from the base…”

But it would not be easy…

Just as the Chaos Immortals surged forward, ten figures emerged…

Their presence was completely different from Aurion… To be exact, it was Aurionʼs opposite. They wore dark robes, with red eyes, and auras filled with deathly energy.

Without a doubt, these figures were Demon Saints!

The Chaos Immortals werenʼt aware of it, but these ten bore the Slave Mark etched into their soul. It was a binding seal that Vale put to them…

They had been awakened in the mausoleum together with Aurion and other Celestials. Normally, they were tasked to guard the 16 towers and protect the students who were aiming to pass the trial.

This time, however, they had to make their move.

”Demons?” Kent was a bit surprised upon its appearance... ”This is interesting… Haruo is an Angel. Aurion was a Holy Saint. What kind of twisted Domain is this?”

”Theyʼre using everything,” Nyssa muttered. ”Even the damned. I guess this is the Shadow Domain for a reason.”

The Demon Saints didnʼt speak as they simply made their move.

The first, clad in dark armor, raised his hand and unleashed a torrent of black fire that melted through Chaos shields…

They had the power of corruption that was different from the Chaos Immortals.

Their corruption came from a deadly form of energy, while the corruption brought by the Chaos Immortals came from chaotic energy that dismantles the Arcane Energy.

They had different principles of corruption, and of course, the Demon Saintʼs corruption was stronger!

Then, in just a few moments, they also summoned a swarm of spectral blades that targeted the remaining Airships in the sky!

”Hold formation!” Kent shouted. ”Theyʼre just Demons! Push through!”

But the Demon Saints werenʼt alone.

From behind them, the ten dragons made their presence known…

They had to assist the Demon Saints right now…

Ryzoirʼs flames, Zerelʼs lightning, Ash and Lyliaʼs vines, Ordenʼs rune, and the other dragons started converging to support the Demon Saints!

Just like that, the Chaos Immortals clashed with Demon Saints…

Spells collided mid-air as the dragons provided cover.

With the Demon Saints in front, they had no issue launching wide-area spells that disrupted Chaos Immortals. They gave the Demon Saints room to maneuver as they fought against the enemies in the sky!

One of the Demon Saints, a horned warrior with a skeletal tail, impaled three Immortals with a single strike before being overwhelmed by a barrage of Chaos Arts.

He fell, his body disintegrating into ash, but not before taking six enemies with him!
