Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1088: 2 v 1

Haruo didnʼt hesitate as soon as he got a deal. In any case, Sreas and Haruo werenʼt included in the planned final defense against the Chaos Immortals. That was why they were tasked to create a deal in order to protect the city they were assigned to.

Furthermore, their species was rare enough for the Chaos Immortals to hesitate to eliminate them.

After all, an Asura and an Angel could bring them unexpected benefits, given time.

They believed that as long as they removed Vale the Shadow Immortal from the picture, the two rare species would have no choice but to be loyal to them, and in turn, they would learn more about the secrets of their species.

”I accept,” Haruo said. His voice was calm, and there was no trace of doubt in his tone.

Kent felt excited, but he calmed himself down… Once the Vale was defeated, he would certainly try to rip the angelʼs wings off and see whether it would recover or not.

ʼTheir feathers are expensive and can be used for high-level rituals… I hope we can start farming them soon.ʼ Kent thought for a moment as he glanced at Haruoʼs wings.

It was like he was looking at a moving treasure…

Kent then considered what to do next. He looked at Haruoʼs eyes and probed. ”Youʼre not even going to ask who your opponents are?”

Haruo shook his head. ”It doesnʼt matter. Iʼm here to win. Iʼm here to protect Euphemia.”

Neylan chuckled. ”You angels really are a different breed.”

Kent turned to Arin and Nyssa. ”You two will handle it.”

Arin cracked his knuckles, and a faint trace of Chaos energy started spreading across his arms. ”Finally. Iʼve been itching to stretch.”

Nyssa stepped forward, her expression unreadable. ”Iʼll make it quick.”

She doesnʼt really feel comfortable fighting two on one, but at this point, they had to win…

Kent raised a hand. ”Hmm… I know you can win… But not too quick. Letʼs not waste the opportunity. If heʼs going to fight Vale with us, I want to see what heʼs capable of.”

Haruo stepped back, giving them space.

His wings spread wide as his Holy Divinity spread in the area… The wind moved around him, as if it was responding to his presence.

”Here?” he asked.

Kent raised a hand to the crew. ”Not here. The deck wonʼt hold. Clear the skies. No containment field. Let them fight above us.”

The main airship started signaling nearby vessels to shift formation. Soon, the fleet adjusted, creating a wide open corridor of airspace above the lead ship. It was a standard maneuver, used only when Immortals fought…

Haruo ascended first.

His wings showed their gracefulness as he rose into the sky with a trail of radiant Divinity behind him.

It was such a beautiful sight that everyone felt that it would be a pity to eliminate him… They could only hope that the two Chaos Immortals on their side wouldnʼt be so brutal to the angel.

Whoosh~

The wind bent around his form, and the clouds parted as if recognizing his presence.

Arin followed with a burst of Chaos propulsion… His body was also surrounded by unstable energy. Nyssa phased upward a moment later… Her unique way of flight made her form flicker.

Kent, on the other hand, remained on the deck with Neylan at his side.

”You think he had a chance to win…?” Neylan asked.

Kent didnʼt answer immediately. He was watching Haruoʼs posture. The way he measured the space, the way he didnʼt rush.

”Heʼs not reckless,” Kent finally said. ”Heʼs calculating, and thatʼs good. If heʼs going to fight Vale with us, I want someone who knows how to survive.”

Above them, the three combatants hovered in a loose triangle.

Haruo looked calmly at the two, waiting for them to attack…

Arin and Nyssa took opposite positions as they were also unsure about the Angelʼs abilities… Well, they knew that the angel focused on Holy Arts, but the Immortal Level Spells of their race were something the two of them werenʼt aware of.

Kent raised his hand.

”Begin.”

The duel had started.

Haruo moved first and with a single beat of his wings, he launched forward… not toward Arin or Nyssa, but straight up. He ascended further to take advantage of his wings…

He knew better than to let himself be locked on by their Spells. He had to move consistently since Chaos Energy could disrupt his Divinity and Spells.

Arin followed immediately, as he wanted to show that even in the sky, the Angel would be nothing to them!

Nyssa remained below as she felt more comfortable fighting in range…

At this time, it was also noticed by Haruo. She was definitely preparing something… likely a trap, or a field to restrict movement.

Haruo turned mid-air and extended his hand.

A spear of light formed in his grip, forged from condensed Divinity. He threw it toward Arin, not to kill, but to test his reaction.

Bam!

Arin deflected it with a swipe of his arm, the spear exploding into radiant shards that scattered harmlessly across the sky.

”Youʼll have to do better than that,” Arin shouted.

Haruo didnʼt answer as he felt that his Holy Divinity couldnʼt enter Arinʼs body. The Chaos Body was indeed tougher than many other special physiques.

He then dove straight toward Nyssa.

She didnʼt flinch. Her spell activated just as he reached her…

”Eat this…”

She then created a dome of inverted gravity meant to disorient and trap.

But Haruoʼs wings flared, and with a twist of his body, he redirected the force! He landed just outside the domeʼs edge, one hand touching the surface and the other already forming a second spear.

Whom~

The second spear was filled with concentrated Divinity...

Haruo didnʼt throw it immediately. He waited just long enough to bait Nyssa into repositioning.

She blinked sideways and reappeared in a new angle, trying to catch him off guard.

That was when Haruo hurled the spear, not at her, but at the center of her gravity dome!

The impact didnʼt destroy the dome, but it destabilized the fieldʼs core, disrupting Nyssaʼs plan…

The inverted gravity twisted for a moment, collapsing inward before Nyssa could reinforce it.

”Tch…” she muttered, forced to retreat further into the sky.

”What a lame method, Angel! Iʼll tear those wings of yours!”
