Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2017: Cheating

The map was determined: ʼPillars Jungle.ʼ

This map consisted of countless thick stone pillars. These stone pillars came in all shapes and forms, bizarre and grotesque, with many places to hide.

Below these large stone pillars were countless interconnected small paths, with numerous places for concealment. In other words, this was a place for assassination and counter-assassination.

This map was actually a classic training map for the Star-Eye Clan; almost everyone was very familiar with it.

The starting points for both sides were opposite each other.

Usually, when using this map, restrictions and various conditions were arbitrarily added. But today, because the requirement was total annihilation, there were no stipulations on time or the like.

This was actually a map that tested individual and small squad abilities. Compared to the previous two matches, which tested hard strength and on-the-spot command, this was a map for chaotic warfare.

Of course, it was also the map most suitable for the Star-Eye Clan.

”The Third Thousand-person Team and the Fourth Thousand-person Team have similar strengths, and they encountered the Pillars Jungle map. Itʼs estimated that even the winning side wonʼt have many people left.”

”Yes, this map has considerable randomness. Moreover, according to the current rules, it will likely take a very long time to conclude. Thereʼs much to watch.”
”Itʼs just unclear what strategy they will adopt. But ultimately, it should test patience. Whoever is more patient, willing to hide longer in concealment, will gain the advantage in the confrontation.”

”Look, itʼs starting.”

The Silver Camp and Gold Camp warriors on the side were discussing. Seeing the battle begin, they all perked up.

”Look at the Third Thousand-person Team; they donʼt seem to have any intention of hiding at all.”

Once the battle began, the spectators saw a very surprising scene. All members of the Third Thousand-person Team dispersed, then quickly advanced forward via the small paths in front of them. Simultaneously, several people quickly climbed to the tops of the stone pillars. From there, they jumped around while directing the direction of their comrades below.

The other side was much more cautious. They divided into five groups, steadily advancing along the paths, not rushing. After reaching certain positions, people continuously began hiding on the stone pillars.

This was also the gradual warfare tactic most teams adopted on this map.

When the Third Thousand-person Team members on top of the stone pillars discovered traces of the enemy, they immediately began signaling. The originally scattered forces quickly gathered towards the central area. People continuously jumped to the tops of stone pillars, while others remained below, not hiding within the pillars.

At a certain moment, Jie Kuiʼs team became a formation occupying only three paths. They began jumping onto the pillars, but did not conceal themselves. They simply leaped from pillars behind to those in front, continuously advancing.

Viewed from above, the Third Thousand-person Team now formed a rectangular ʼfieldʼ pattern advancing in sequence. The sides of the ʼfieldʼ had fewer people, the middle had more; the rear had fewer, the front had more.

Initially, no one understood what this meant. But when they engaged in close combat with the Fourth Thousand-person Team, it shocked everyone.

They saw the Third Thousand-person Team members directly cut through the center of the Fourth Thousand-person Teamʼs formation.

Their speed naturally wasnʼt as fast as before, but only slightly slower. Afterward, they did not stop but continued forward, killing their way all to the opponentʼs starting point before turning around. They then began repeating the previous process, the only difference being that the people responsible for the flanks earlier became the people in the middle of the ʼfield,ʼ while those previously in the middle went to the flanks.

Another group of people moved to the very rear of the ʼfieldʼ formation.

Then this formation cut through the Fourth Thousand-person Team again.

”I understand!”

A Silver Mask warrior suddenly shouted, excitedly pointing at the light screen: ”Look! The formation the Third Thousand-person Team created: the people on the flanks are actually defending, not seeking to kill enemies. The warriors walking in the middle part are the ones truly engaged in wide-scale killing.”

”Not only that,” a Gold Mask warrior added, ”whether the warriors on the flanks or those in the middle, none of them linger in combat. They kill if they can; if they canʼt, they just donʼt let themselves be blocked. Moreover, they only divided into three paths, having numerical advantage in local areas. They also continuously used the people on top of the stone pillars to guide their direction of advance. So after going back and forth like this twice, most of the Fourth Thousand-person Team members within this ʼfieldʼ formation have been killed.”

Others also marveled, feeling that in the initial stage of this battle, the Third Thousand-person Team clearly performed better.

”Actually, I think they are truly well-trained. Look: the front and middle of the formation face greater pressure because they are the main attackers. But after completing one charge, they swap positions with their comrades on the left and right defensive lines, switching offense and defense. The injured are placed in the rear, which faces the least pressure, and on top of the stone pillars responsible only for guiding direction. This maximizes preservation of strength and reduces casualties.”

Another person in the corner clearly saw things more clearly than others. The people around him saluted him one after another. This person was a Thousand-person Leader from the Gold Camp.

”This Jie Kui, unexpectedly, has some skill in training troops,” this Gold Camp Thousand-person Leader waved his hand, telling everyone to relax, while praising Jie Kui.

”However, the Fourth Thousand-person Team should realize soon. Next, it will be time to test hard strength.”

Things indeed unfolded as this Gold Camp Thousand-person Leader predicted. The Fourth Thousand-person Team immediately took measures, gathering their warriors and adopting a confrontational posture.

Both sides quickly charged towards each other. However, Jie Kuiʼs side continuously detached warriors from the rear of the formation midway. What was seen on the light screen was his team pouncing towards the opponent in an arc shape, gradually closing in to form an encirclement.

Just like in the first battle, if both sides had similar numbers, adopting an encirclement method was actually very foolish. The other side could easily break it by charging in unison in one direction. But here it was different. This map allowed for the implementation of such tactics. Jie Kuiʼs subordinates, taking advantage of the opponentʼs psychology of being eager to recover after the initial defeat, encircled them, continuously applying pressure from the outer ring. The opponent was engaged on all sides; if they wanted to break out, Jie Kuiʼs people let them leave, then pursued...

Both sides engaged in back-and-forth tug-of-war and chaotic combat on this map, dazzling to watch. In the end, both sides had actually lost their organizational structure, completely descending into a state where each fought for themselves.

The battle lasted a very long time. When it ended, everyone sighed.

But when the results were announced, it caused an uproar. The observing Silver and Gold Mask warriors all looked towards the rostrum.

At this moment, they had only one thought on their minds.

Cheating!
