Mixed feelingsThe PPTs for these online courses are generally well-made, but they all have a very generic feel to them.

The prices also range from a dozen yuan to several hundred yuan, and they are all pre-recorded classes. From the content, it looks very much like a collection and integration package of online materials. It’s the kind where various materials are collected from the internet, then tidied up and sold for money.

Actually, primary school courses don’t need any tutoring classes at all.

The best proof of this is the state’s attitude towards tutoring classes at the primary school level. Because spending too much energy on studying in primary school is like carving flowers on shit. It’s meaningless. If you have to put in a lot of effort just to grasp basic knowledge, it’s better to give up the idea of getting ahead through studying sooner rather than later.

But Lin Yuan obviously couldn’t speak more truthfully, and Da Zhang, who was reeking of alcohol beside him, clearly couldn’t accept such blunt truth.

”It’s pretty good, but these few courses, there’s no need to spend too much energy on them.” Lin Yuan randomly pointed out a few expensive courses, treating it as a kindness to help Da Zhang save some money.

”See?” Da Zhang said triumphantly to Da Zhang’s wife, ”I told you those courses you bought were useless, but you insisted on buying them.”

Da Zhang’s wife was immediately speechless.

But Lin Yuan knew very well that Da Zhang had no idea which courses were good or bad, otherwise he wouldn’t have come to ask him. Da Zhang was purely pained by the money.

Lin Yuan didn’t want to continue interfering in other people’s family matters; he felt a surge of regret for his ”kindness.” He just wanted to quickly give a perfunctory answer and leave.

However, as his gaze roamed over the learning tablet, he saw the title of a course—[Xiao Xiao Exclusive] Math Tutoring Course Suitable for Children in Grades One to Three.

Xiao Xiao? Lin Yuan remembered that Song Xiaoxiao’s DY account started with the two characters ”Xiao Xiao.” Song Xiaoxiao was doing course-related business, and the current online course also started with [Xiao Xiao Exclusive].

Lin Yuan immediately clicked into the purchase course details page, and on the course introduction brochure, it was clearly Song Xiaoxiao’s avatar.

”What are you looking at?” Xia Ye looked at Lin Yuan’s paused movements and curiously tried to lean closer.

”Nothing.” Lin Yuan immediately closed the page.

He then said to Da Zhang, ”This course doesn’t need to be bought either.”

—

When they went downstairs, Da Zhang and Da Zhang’s wife even specially brought the child to see them off downstairs.

Lin Yuan’s heart was filled with mixed emotions. If you say Da Zhang’s mouth stinks, it really stinks. After a few cans of cat pee, he speaks without thinking.

But if you talk about Da Zhang as a person, he actually has no bad intentions; he’s just a simple, honest person who is usually quite enthusiastic.

Lin Yuan felt that his current knowledge was insufficient to find a reasonable perspective to view Da Zhang and Da Zhang’s family.

And his contradiction not only came from this but also from that scoundrel Song Xiaoxiao.

He originally thought Song Xiaoxiao was just using the excuse of selling courses to dabble in chat rooms and play a little on the edge, but he never expected that scoundrel would actually start a business of harvesting ordinary people.

For ordinary people living at the bottom like Da Zhang, they highly respect knowledge and have witnessed many examples of changing fate through knowledge. More precisely, in the traditional culture of the Dragon Kingdom, there is a sense of awe towards the imperial examinations and scholars.

For thousands of years, ”books hold houses of gold” and ”all trades are lowly, only studying is supreme” have been factually imprinted in everyone’s minds like thought steel stamps.

Although people often say ”what’s the point of studying?” just like Da Zhang before. But if his child got first place in an exam, you’d see how excited he’d be. Just like after witnessing Lin Yuan change his fate through studying.

The path of studying has always been able to lead directly to the imperial court. Even in the most chaotic times, regardless of the righteous or evil factions, the prominent figures mostly came from various academies.

However, ordinary people often don’t know how to correctly walk this path.

Thus, throughout history, people have taken advantage of this anxiety of ordinary people to amass wealth.

Lin Yuan ultimately couldn’t bear to see such a situation, but he also knew that such situations had always been happening.

’Forget it!’ After a long sigh in his heart, he could only let each sweep their own doorstep.

”Xia Ye, you must be curious why Da Zhang just said I got into graduate school and that I made a lot of money.”

”Mmm-hmm.” Xia Ye blinked her big eyes and nodded, ”I’ve wanted to ask for a long time, but you seemed to have something on your mind. What’s wrong with you, anyway?”

”Me? Nothing’s wrong with me. I’m just about to explode from dealing with the complexities of humanity.”

”Ah?” Xia Ye couldn’t understand Lin Yuan’s surrealistic statements.

”Actually, I’ve always wanted you to keep your distance from Song Xiaoxiao. But you never listen to me.”

Xia Ye lowered her head, ”I...”

”I’m not blaming you. Can you ask her out now? I want to get to the bottom of this.”

”What? Get to the bottom of what?”

”To explain your previous questions clearly, and to make you thoroughly understand why you need to cut ties with Song Xiaoxiao.”

”Why? Xiao Xiao... she’s very good to me.”

”Because Song Xiaoxiao is an evil person.” Facing Xia Ye’s confused expression, Lin Yuan continued, ”She sells courses to ordinary people, useless junk courses, harvesting their money. She’s heartless, not a human being.”

Xia Ye finally remembered something, ”You didn’t let me look at that tablet just now because it had courses sold by Xiao Xiao?”

”Yes, she claims to be a top student from Zijin Aeronautics and Astronautics University, portraying herself as an elite academic.”

”Ah? No way?”

Lin Yuan then pulled out his phone, opened DY, and searched; he had just written down the name of the store that sold the courses.

In the face of ironclad facts, Xia Ye was completely speechless.

Lin Yuan continued, ”Standing next to someone like her, you have to be careful not to get struck by lightning. Ask her out. Let’s settle all the grievances and thoroughly put an end to things with her.”

Xia Ye finally understood Lin Yuan’s painstaking efforts, ”Hello, Xiao Xiao. I’m sorry to call you so late. Are you busy with a live stream? Nothing important, just wanted to ask you out to chat.”

”Me? I’m fine. Lin Yuan didn’t bully me, he’s very good to me.”

”He really didn’t bully me, he actually wants to see you right now.”

.

.

After hanging up the phone, Xia Ye whispered, ”She insisted on thinking you bullied me.”

Lin Yuan smiled wryly, ”The way you were talking just now, she was bound to think that.” But in reality, Xia Ye was worried about Song Xiaoxiao, which was why her tone was hesitant.

”Xiao Xiao said to send her the location, she’s driving over now.”

Two minutes later, Song Xiaoxiao looked at the live stream room with over ten thousand viewers.

”Family, I’m really sorry. I have an urgent family matter today, so I’m temporarily ending the broadcast. I’m sending out a big wave of lucky bags to apologize to my family. We’ll see each other tomorrow, same time.”

Off-screen voice.

”Song Xiaoxiao, what kind of trick are you pulling?”

”Yeah, Sister Xiao Xiao. We just bought traffic.”

”I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I’ll treat everyone to a meal another day. I really have an urgent family matter.”
