Alchemy Master

Chapter 617, Twilight City’s Crisis

Translator: Silavin

Within the Royal Palace of Twilight City, the atmosphere was extremely grave.

At the topmost position sat none other than the first Empress of the Great Prosperity Grand Empire, Xia Zilin!

Compared to when Qin Yichen had left, Xia Zilin had undoubtedly undergone tremendous changes. At this moment, she was adorned in yellow robes, and merely sitting upon the Dragon Throne, she emanated the dignity of a supreme ruler.

However, this dignity seemed to be challenged today, as continuous whispers arose from below.

“Why not hand over the Soaring Joy Chamber Of Commerce? Could it be that we truly wish to see our Twilight City fall before we are satisfied?”

“This is the weakness of having a female ruler. When has any monarch ever been so indecisive?”

“Indeed, if it were not for the Carefree Prince’s strong support back then, who would have supported a mere woman to become ruler?”

Throughout the hall, numerous officials whispered amongst themselves, their words implicitly pointing towards Xia Zilin.

“Silence!” Below Xia Zilin, at the forefront of the civil and military officials, a young man who appeared refined and elegant, no more than twenty-odd years of age, finally could not restrain himself and shouted.

Under his rebuke, the previous clamour gradually quietened.

This was because this person was none other than Xia Ziyi, the Son of the Carefree Prince, Xia Zelei!

After meeting Qin Yichen, his achievements in Alchemy had advanced by leaps and bounds. Moreover, perhaps due to Xia Zelei’s great insight and far-sightedness, Xia Ziyi had once campaigned alongside the newly appointed War God, Li Yuanba. At this time, he had shed all his youthful naivety and commanded considerable prestige within the Imperial Court.

“Xia Ziyi, what is the current state of the battlefield?” Seeing the Imperial Court had quietened, Xia Zilin sighed inwardly and asked.

“Currently, the Carefree Prince is being held at Ancient Mountain Pass by the allied forces of the Great Ease Grand Empire and Thousand Silk Grand Empire. Meanwhile, led by the Southern River Grand Empire, the Relaxing Summer Grand Empire, United Yellow Grand Empire, Standing Principles Grand Empire, and two other Grand Empires have already broken through our southern defensive line.” Xia Ziyi paused before reporting truthfully.

Upon hearing such urgent battle conditions, the expressions of numerous officials changed once again.

This time, for the Great Prosperity Grand Empire, the situation was truly too perilous. Seven allied Grand Empires, and moreover, the Southern River Grand Empire’s strength exceeded that of the Great Prosperity Grand Empire.

“Still no contact from him?” Xia Zilin took a deep breath and asked with a trace of expectation.

Upon hearing this question, the civil and military officials all pricked up their ears. They naturally knew who this ‘him’ represented. He was truly a miracle of the Great Prosperity Grand Empire!

If he were to appear, perhaps the Great Prosperity Grand Empire would still have a glimmer of hope.

“Not yet…” However, to their disappointment, Xia Ziyi shook his head and replied in a low voice.

Although she had already anticipated this in her heart, upon hearing these words, a trace of disappointment still flashed through Xia Zilin’s beautiful eyes.

“That bastard has caused our Grand Empire such misery and then ignores all the consequences!”

“*Haaa…* Even if he returns, what can he do? He is merely a Human Grade Alchemy Master. These are seven allied Grand Empires! What effect could a Human Grade Alchemy Master have?”

At this moment, several whispered conversations arose again. Regarding this, Xia Ziyi was also somewhat helpless. Indeed, as they said, this unprovoked disaster was directly related to the Compound Pill, and even if Qin Yichen returned, it would likely be of no use.

“Xia Ziyi, relay my command!” Xia Zilin closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When she opened them again, there was no trace of panic or disappointment in her gaze, only the dignity befitting that of an Empress.

“Xia Ziyi awaits his orders!” Upon hearing this, Xia Ziyi knelt on one knee and responded.

“Distribute all Black Cloud weapons and armour. Defend Twilight City to the death!” At this moment, all hope could only be placed upon the Carefree Prince who was far away at the Ancient Mountain Pass!

The last time they faced the million-strong allied forces of the Great Ease Grand Empire and Thousand Silk Grand Empire, the Carefree Prince and Li Yuanba had routed them. This time, it remained to be seen whether he could once again create a miracle and save Twilight City from this crisis!

Although almost everyone knew this possibility was virtually zero, this was their only remaining hope!

…

Riding upon Gongshu Zhiyi’s wooden bird, Qin Yichen’s speed was like lightning streaking across the sky. Within several breaths, he had vanished at the horizon’s edge. Even if someone occasionally glanced upward, they could only see that fleeting streak of light.

When pushing his speed to the extreme, Qin Yichen’s expression was also extremely grim. The aftermath caused by the Alchemy Manor Summit had truly exceeded his expectations. Thinking about it now, he felt frightened.

His Parents, Sworn Brothers, Lu Linghan, Little Ling’er, and all the others were within the Great Prosperity Grand Empire. If the Great Prosperity Grand Empire fell and any of those he cared about suffered the slightest mishap, it would be absolutely unacceptable to him!

“If anyone dares to harm my Family and Sworn Brothers, regardless of what power they represent, there is only one path: complete annihilation!”

The fierce wind blew Qin Yichen’s hair wildly, revealing those eyes that had become extraordinarily cold.

Dragons have reverse scales; those who touch them die!

And these people were Qin Yichen’s reverse scales!

In less than ten days, Qin Yichen had already flown across more than half of the Heavenly Dragon Imperial Dynasty’s territory. The continuous mountain ranges began to gradually fade, and vast plains slowly appeared in his field of vision.

When he saw these plains, Qin Yichen’s heart also secretly breathed a sigh of relief. These plains already belonged to the Great Prosperity Grand Empire, within the range of Thousand Mist Capital!

Throughout his journey, Qin Yichen had also witnessed many fleeing refugees. Clearly, they all knew that a great catastrophe was about to befall the Great Prosperity Grand Empire.

Looking at those panicked fugitives, Qin Yichen’s heart grew increasingly heavy. Such scenes only appeared in war-torn lands!

“Hmm?” Suddenly, while flying at high speed, Qin Yichen’s figure abruptly halted. In the next instant, his Spiritual Energy probed outward, instantly covering a range of more than twenty kilometres.

About twenty kilometres away, there was an extremely familiar aura!

On the plains, there was a rider with yellow dust tracing behind. This rider was extremely conspicuous.

At the very front was a snow-white Demonic Beast, and most eye-catching were the two figures upon that beast.

If it were normal times, seeing these two people riding together on a Demonic Beast would surely cause someone to curse, because these two were simply too burly and massive!

To be able to carry two such heavyweight bodies while galloping, that Demonic Beast must be exceptionally strong.

Behind this white Demonic Beast, there was a military unit of approximately one hundred soldiers. From their uniforms, they were definitely not soldiers of the Great Prosperity Grand Empire. From their movements, they were clearly pursuing the two people ahead.

“These bastards are deliberately lagging behind. Are they toying with me? When I return to the Soaring Joy Chamber Of Commerce, I’ll definitely tear these bastards a new hole!”

These two burly figures were none other than Ye Liangchen and his hard-won Wife, Shi Jingmu!
