Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Seeing that Nina Scott had no intention of going to take a shower, Miles Mercer couldn’t help but ask, ”Who are you chatting with?”

”Christian Sawyer. You’ve met him.” Nina Scott didn’t hide it.

Miles Mercer remembered. ’Wasn’t it that guy?’

However, he didn’t have any right to tell Nina Scott what to do. After a while, seeing that she still hadn’t moved, Miles Mercer couldn’t hold back anymore. ”Do you know what time it is? Aren’t you going to shower?”

”I’m going!” Nina Scott finally put down her phone and quickly took a shower.

When she came out, Miles Mercer was still on the sofa, having given the bed to Nina Scott.

Nina Scott lay down on the bed without saying a word to Miles Mercer.

It was Miles Mercer who couldn’t resist breaking the silence. ”I’m turning off the lights, then.”

”Okay.”

After the lights were turned off, the room was plunged into darkness, with only the glow from Nina Scott’s phone remaining.

Tucked under his blanket, Miles Mercer said, ”It’s getting late. You should get some rest.”

”Okay.”

Nina Scott was chatting with Christian Sawyer about some work-related matters. He was now running his own company, and they weren’t kids anymore. With Nina in the apparel business, it was inevitable they’d have opportunities to collaborate.

After they finished talking about work, Christian Sawyer asked how Yara Scott was doing.

At her wedding, Yara Scott had attempted suicide and was subsequently sent to the hospital.

Outsiders, of course, didn’t know what had happened, but Nina Scott did.

Speaking of which, Nina Scott wasn’t the least bit sleepy anymore. After all, there weren’t many people she could gossip with; usually, she only talked about such things with Ivy.

As for Yara Scott, she had probably been going crazy lately.

The Scott Family had completely washed their hands of her. She was already married, the license was registered, and the wedding had—sort of—happened. She was now a member of the Walker Family.

So what if Yara Scott had attempted suicide? The Scott Family just packed her up and sent her to the Walker Family.

With this whole spectacle, public perception of the Walker Family took a major hit. Rumors were flying about them forcing an innocent woman into marriage, and so on. The Walkers didn’t want to deal with her either, and their relationship with the Scott Family had become extremely strained.

When Yara Scott woke up and found herself in the Walker Family’s home, she had a complete breakdown.

Although the Walker Family didn’t want her, Yara Scott was already married into the family. Besides, she was considered quite attractive, and they’d heard she had a good temperament—filial and obedient.

It would be a waste not to take a wife like that.

Yara Scott refused in every way possible, which annoyed Cameron Walker. He wasn’t a good person by any means. In any case, after a few drinks, he didn’t care whether she was willing or not. He just slept with her and claimed her as his own.

At that moment, Yara Scott’s cries for help went unanswered. No one would help her anymore. She could only stay obediently with the Walker Family and be their Mrs. Walker.

The thing Yara Scott regretted most now was introducing that man, Walker, to Nina Scott in the first place. Who could have thought that in the end, her karma would come back to bite her, and she would be the one ending up with him?

But this wasn’t over. Yara Scott would not let it go. ’That Nina Scott actually dared to plot against me! Once I get my footing, I’ll definitely make her pay!’

Of course, Nina Scott didn’t know what Yara was thinking. Nina hadn’t even seen Yara since she got married.

She had only heard about Yara’s current situation from Seth Scott. As for the fact that Yara had nearly forced herself on him that night, Seth no longer had any feelings for his sister either.

On the day of Yara Scott’s wedding, Seth Scott didn’t even show up.

Yara Scott had called Seth Scott for help, but he ignored her.

Thinking about Yara Scott’s current fate, Nina Scott’s smile was like a raised AK-47—very hard to suppress.

She just leaned against the bed like that, chatting with Christian Sawyer.

”Is this what they call ’what goes around, comes around’?” a message came from Christian Sawyer.

Nina Scott replied, ”Of course it is. But with someone like her, who knows what she’ll do in the future. I don’t think she’s the type to take this lying down.”

Just as Nina Scott was typing out her reply, ready to send it, the phone was suddenly snatched from her hand.

”Hey?” Nina Scott froze for a second.

Looking up, she saw Miles Mercer’s slightly cold face in the faint light of the phone.

”What are you doing?” Nina Scott asked him.

Miles Mercer said, ”Go to sleep!”

”You go ahead and sleep. I wasn’t making any noise, was I? Did I disturb you?” Nina Scott hadn’t even realized if she had laughed out loud just now. After all, thinking about this whole affair really put her in a good mood.

”Your light is bothering my eyes!” Miles Mercer said, annoyed.

’Chatting with another man this late at night... what is there to even talk about?’

Nina Scott said, ”Oh, sorry about that. Give me back my phone. I’ll use it under the covers.”

’Some people just don’t like any light when they sleep. If I hide under the covers, Miles shouldn’t be able to see the light, right? It’s not like he has X-ray vision.’

”No!” Miles Mercer rejected her outright.

”Why?” Nina Scott asked.

”Using your phone under the covers is bad for your eyes.”

Nina Scott: ”Then give it back, and I won’t use it, okay?”

’I’ll just secretly use it under the covers later. Miles won’t be able to see it anyway.’

’Young people aren’t old folks. Am I supposed to be like Miles, soaking goji berries in a thermos?’

’For young people, the night is just getting started at this hour. She really didn’t understand Miles. He was so young, yet he acted like such an old fuddy-duddy.’

’A guy like Miles has probably never even been to a bar, because he’s afraid of women, hahaha!’

One look at Nina Scott and you could tell she had zero credibility. She wasn’t the type of person who would stop just because she said she would.

Having spent time with Nina Scott, he knew her temperament. She never listened to anyone and always did her own thing.

”No. I’ll give it back to you in the morning. Go to sleep!”

With that, Miles Mercer turned off the phone’s screen, and the room was instantly plunged back into total darkness.

Otherwise, there was no telling how long Nina Scott would have kept chatting with that man. It was already the middle of the night.

Even though the natural moonlight allowed one to vaguely make things out, Nina Scott’s eyes hadn’t adjusted to the sudden darkness.

As Miles Mercer walked away, she quickly scrambled out of bed and chased after him.

But she misjudged the distance and accidentally bumped into Miles Mercer. As he turned, Nina Scott fell forward.

”Watch out!” A hand reached out, originally intending to catch Nina Scott.

But it was too late. Nina Scott fell to the floor, right in front of Miles Mercer.

”Are you okay?” Miles Mercer hadn’t expected her to actually fall.

He had just tried to catch her, but it was too dark in the room, and he couldn’t even tell where she had fallen.

”I’m fine,” Nina Scott said.

’But I think I scraped my leg. It hurts a little.’

Miles Mercer said, ”I’ll go turn on the light.”

It was so dark in the room you couldn’t see a thing.

”Hey, help me up first,” she said. Following the sound of his voice, Nina Scott reached a hand out toward Miles Mercer and grabbed blindly.

And with that grab, Nina Scott actually caught something.

She froze. ’Why does this feel... weird?’ There was an indescribable sensation, as if it was...

She didn’t know what it was; she still couldn’t put her finger on it.

It just felt strange. She even gave it a couple of squeezes. And then, the thing in her hand rapidly went from soft to hard, from small to big.
