Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

”AHH!” the girl screamed, crying.

The commotion drew attention, but no one else dared to approach.

A fellow waiter nearby couldn’t stand by and watch. ”Miss, what seems to be the problem? If she did something wrong, she can apologize to you. You’re both women, there’s no need to go as far as ruining her face.”

Joy Sheridan looked up and glared at him viciously. ”Who the hell do you think you are, trying to stop me? Do you know who I am? I’m the little princess of the Sheridan Family!”

There was only one famous Sheridan Family in Veridia. The moment Joy Sheridan announced her name, anyone else who had considered intervening backed down.

They were all afraid of getting into trouble. A person of her stature was not someone they could afford to offend.

As for the young waitress, they could only say she was unlucky enough to have offended Miss Sheridan.

But Joy Sheridan was relentless. ”Why are you speaking up for her? What’s your relationship? Did she climb into your bed? Is that why you’re protecting her?”

The waiter’s face flushed red, then turned pale. ”Miss Sheridan, that’s going too far. There’s nothing going on between us.”

Joy Sheridan laughed maniacally. ”Nothing going on? If there’s nothing going on, why are you helping her? You’re just a pair of disgusting cheats! I won’t let either of you go!”

As she spoke, she viciously pinched the waitress.

The girl didn’t dare to speak. She was from the lowest rung of society, with no power or connections. She wasn’t exceptionally beautiful, so all she could do was serve drinks and earn a few tips. She had no idea how she had managed to offend this customer.

She poked the waitress’s face with her finger. ”Get out. Get out of Aethelgard, or I’ll make sure you disappear from this world forever!”

The waitress was completely terrified. Just then, the bar manager came over and spent a long time placating Joy Sheridan before she finally let the waitress go.

But from start to finish, the waitress had no idea what she had done wrong. She had already tried to get out of the way; it was Joy Sheridan who had bumped into her.

’Can rich people really bully others like this?’ But working here, she had seen too many drunk patrons cause trouble, and it was always the staff who suffered in the end.

Besides, even the manager had to grovel before this Miss Sheridan. She was clearly not someone they could afford to provoke.

When wronged like this, all they could do was swallow their grievances.

...

「Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the Blackwood Family’s home was incredibly tense.」

Anna Nash was a suspect in an attempted murder case and should have been detained. However, Caleb Blackwood had bailed her out. Coupled with her pregnancy, the conditions at the police station were indeed unsuitable for holding her.

Although she had been released, she could be summoned at any time to cooperate with the investigation.

The trouble with Anna Nash’s parents hadn’t even subsided, and now she had caused another huge disturbance.

She had actually given the ashes to Ivy Sherwood, and on top of that, tried to kill her.

Regarding the ashes, Caleb Blackwood naturally blamed Silas Blackwood. Silas was the one who had taken them from him, swearing he would keep them safe and would absolutely not give them to Ivy Sherwood.

But now, Ivy Sherwood had the ashes!

Silas Blackwood hadn’t expected Anna Nash to do such a thing, so of course, he went to chew her out.

Silas Blackwood roared, ”Anna, why didn’t you talk to me before you took the ashes?”

Anna Nash looked aggrieved. ”I thought you took the ashes from Father to give them to Ivy. I figured you were so busy, I didn’t want to trouble you with the trip, so I delivered them to her myself.”

”Then what’s this about you trying to kill Ivy? Don’t you know murder is illegal? And don’t you dare tell me you didn’t arrange for that man. We’re not idiots!”

Anna Nash knew she couldn’t deny it, and besides, she still needed the Blackwood Family’s help.

So, she confessed. ”I arranged for that man. I just wanted Ivy Sherwood to die. She’s a menace! If it weren’t for her, my parents would never have come here. I know you like her, and that’s precisely why I had to kill her!”

”Why? Anna, you’re insane!”

Anna said, ”My husband is in love with another woman. Do you think I can tolerate that? This is all your fault. When it comes down to it, it’s all my fault... for loving you too much.”

Silas Blackwood was suddenly speechless. Anna truly did love him—loved him to the bone.

Although she had done so many unscrupulous things, it was all because she loved him.

”Who was the man you sent to kill Ivy?” Silas asked again.

Anna shook her head. ”I don’t know him. I just found him online.”

”Honey, I know I was wrong. I’ll never do it again. Besides, Ivy is fine, isn’t she? She didn’t die; she’s perfectly okay. So this doesn’t really count as murder, right? And I wasn’t the one who physically did it, so you can’t even call me the murderer.”

”The real murderer is the one lying in the hospital. If he wakes up and the police question him, he’ll definitely talk.”

”Honey, you must have a way to make sure he can never speak again, right?”

Silas Blackwood was shocked by her words. ”What are you implying? You want to kill someone else?”

Anna shook her head, crying. ”That’s not it, I wasn’t thinking that. What if... what if he doesn’t survive the surgery?”

”I’m so scared, honey. This is the most critical stage of my pregnancy. I’ve heard it’s easy to miscarry at this point, so a pregnant woman can’t get too agitated. If I can’t eat or sleep well, what will happen to our baby?”

Anna took Silas Blackwood’s hand and placed it on her own belly, letting him feel the child within.

She knew Silas Blackwood would soften. If anything happened to this child, he would never have another.

She continued, ”Honey, you can feel it, can’t you? This is our child. He can’t suffer along with me before he’s even born.”

”Honey, please go talk to Father. I can’t go to jail. I can’t go to prison. Otherwise, how will our son explain his mother to the other kids someday? Is he supposed to say his mother was a convict?”

Silas Blackwood did soften. ”You’d better behave from now on. If there’s a next time, I won’t save you.”

”I promise, I’ll never dare to again,” Anna feigned.

After Silas Blackwood went upstairs to find Caleb Blackwood in the study, Anna wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with the back of her hand. Her aggrieved expression vanished, quickly replaced by a completely different look.

’Gideon Gordon is still in the hospital,’ she thought. ’This is the best chance to make sure he dies. I have to make a move.’

’Gideon Gordon knows too much. And right now, I have nothing to hold over him. He’s a time bomb that could go off at any moment, so I have to make sure he never says a word.’

’After all, only the dead can keep secrets.’

’If I can’t touch Ivy Sherwood, can’t I at least get rid of a man like Gideon Gordon?’

As for who would do the deed, Anna Nash already had someone in mind.

Her father, Mr. Nash, was still in the hospital, which provided the perfect opportunity. They wanted money and a villa, didn’t they? She could give them that, but on one condition...
