Chapter 1392: Chapter 472: Return to the Imperial City (2)

”Cough... it was just an accident.” Rein’s face flushed slightly, he said.

”Well, the teacher also guessed it was you, so this matter was left unresolved.”

”Rein, take care of yourself on your visit.” Anna looked at Rein reluctantly.

”Mm.”

As the Sword Bearer Airship slowly took off, Rein’s journey to Ferdinand Forest came to an end.

His harvest this time was undoubtedly immense.

At this moment, his cabin was filled with elf leather materials, all given for free by the Elf Clan.

Although he had not yet switched to elf leatherworking, following Elder Nasha’s study in recent days had already triggered the conditions for the switch.

In other words, as long as he proceeded step by step, he could smoothly transition.

...

Meanwhile.

Imperial City Tamriel, Hamadi Mansion.

In the study.

Hamadi anxiously inquired of his subordinate again, ”Has Earl Rein not returned yet?”

”No, sir!”

”We have arranged two teams to keep watch at Earl Rein’s mansion twenty-four hours, and we will know immediately once Earl Rein returns,” the servant respectfully said.

”Hm, report immediately if there are any updates!” As soon as Hamadi finished speaking, he waved his hand impatiently to dismiss the servant.

He continued pacing back and forth in the study.

After a while, he let out a long sigh, ”Sigh, why hasn’t Lord Rein returned yet. If he doesn’t come back soon, things won’t be able to proceed!”

A couple of days ago, upon receiving word from his superior, Roys, saying that representatives from the Empire would visit the Federation again,

the two of them agreed that it was an excellent opportunity to invite Rein to the Federation.

As for securing a spot in the Empire Delegation, if it was just one slot, it wasn’t too difficult for them.

The problem was, ever since Lord Rein went to Ferdinand Forest, he hadn’t returned.

Such matters naturally required Rein’s personal consent to proceed, otherwise, it could backfire.

And so, they have been waiting until now.

But more crucially,

just yesterday, his superior Roys seriously told him that they must persuade Rein to join the delegation.

The reason being, news from Ferdinand Forest indicated that Lord Rein’s potential was even greater than initially anticipated.

This shocked Hamadi at the time — greater than expected?

Wouldn’t that place him as the top talent in the Federation’s recruitment hierarchy?

Hamadi was well aware of what this meant.

”Viscount, Earl Rein has returned!”

Suddenly, a slightly urgent report came from outside the door!

”Great! Arrange for a carriage immediately,” Hamadi said with a look of delight.

...

Inner Ring of the Imperial City.

Second Prince Mansion, in the study.

”Your Highness, it’s confirmed. I’ve found two Empire personnel who participated in the battle back then and bribed them heavily. It’s confirmed that Rein transformed into a two-headed giant dragon and delivered the final blow to the Evil God’s avatar.”

Buchanan spoke with a grim face, his thoughts diffusing outward.

Ever since he received news of Bostaf’s death a few days ago, he had been terrified!

Knowing that Lord Bostaf, whose strength was comparable to an Imperial Guardian,

wasn’t a match for that Rein.

And the series of subsequent information left him even more astounded.

Even the Second Prince was quite amazed upon hearing the news and immediately instructed him to conduct a comprehensive and detailed investigation to ascertain the situation in Ferdinand Forest.

However, the more he investigated, the more it terrified Buchanan!

This Rein was simply monstrous...

”... Based on their descriptions, the dragon form Rein transformed into was completely different from any Imperial Dragon Knight dragon they had seen. One of the dragon heads was almost translucent...”

After Buchanan finished his account, Second Prince Everton nodded and said,

”Indeed, this greatly differs from the reports in the Empire’s official channels.”

This was why he had Buchanan conduct a detailed investigation.

As the Second Prince, he naturally had access to the top-secret intelligence on Ferdinand Forest, but the problem was, the battle description involving Rein was merely brushed over, only the result was informed.

This had made him somewhat suspicious.

”Buchanan, do you remember that Void Dragon?”

”I always had an issue with the wording of that earlier report. Now it seems I was right — someone is covering up something for this Rein?”

After carefully reading the investigation report Buchanan handed over, the Second Prince Everton asserted.

”Oh? Could it be the Sword Bearer? Marshal Alfred?” Buchanan raised his eyebrows, his eyes brightening as he offered a suggestion.

”No, the Sword Bearer doesn’t have that kind of power.” Second Prince Everton shook his head, saying.

”For this incident in Ferdinand Forest, the leaders of the Empire’s reinforcements were Lothar and Reginald. These two Imperial Guardians weren’t from the Sword Bearer system, and even Alfred didn’t have such pull.”

”But after that, it was Prince Menia who arrived at Ferdinand Forest, and afterward, she took full command.” Buchanan frowned, puzzled.

Regarding Buchanan’s words, Second Prince Everton pondered in silence.

After a long time, the Second Prince softly murmured,

”Could it be that Aunt Menia is covering for Rein?”

This....

Hearing the Second Prince’s words, Buchanan was taken aback, then he lowered his head even more.

On this matter, he was entirely unfit to comment.
