Chapter 2365: Chapter 2366: Incurable

Ghost Dock Island, Dock No. 4.

For everyone on the Moonlit Bird, tonight was destined to be a sleepless night.

Master Man is dead, and the entire combat force on the Broken Blood is virtually annihilated. This should be a matter to rejoice over, as it means they can easily take over the long-coveted Dock No. 1.

But no one on the ship showed any signs of happiness at this moment.

They all gazed with hopeful and prayerful eyes toward the medical room, even those standing on the deck who couldn’t actually see its location, would turn their heads in its direction, waiting anxiously for the final result.

Captain Baro, Little Birch... and, Renko.

The three of them were in the medical room, being jointly rescued by the doctor from the Moonlit Bird and Little Flea.

If these three were to die, what would be the point even if they took over the Broken Blood, even if they took over Dock No. 1? Captain Baro was their titular leader, while Renko was their spiritual leader. Once the leaders of a ship died, it would inevitably lead to the darkest hour.

Moreover, Renko was the real power on the ship; with him there, no one from other docks dared to trespass. Without him, even if they took over Dock No. 1, they wouldn’t be able to hold it.

So, everyone was anxiously expecting, waiting for the final result.

”Will the captain and the others be okay? Really, since they planned to attack Dock No. 1, why didn’t they inform us?”

”They’ll be okay; they definitely will be. We’ve managed to live on this Ghost Island for so long, I can’t believe the captain and the others would fall here.”

This was their prayer from the psyche, but could prayers really become reality?

While everyone on the deck remained silent, the cabin door opened, and a few more people trickled out. Upon inquiry, they found out that the doctor advised against crowding outside the medical room as the poor air circulation and noise weren’t good for the injured. So, they were all sent to the deck.

”Little Sa, you were the first to go over to assist; do you know the specific situation? Is there still hope for them?” The speaker was someone who was already on the deck looking toward a young boy who had walked out from the ship’s cabin. This young boy was the first to hear the sounds of fighting and ran to the bridge to check the situation.

Everyone looked at the young boy called Little Sa; some people had heard bits and pieces, but all of it was hearsay, and they didn’t know the exact situation.

Little Sa hesitated for a moment before he spoke: ”Little Birch’s injury is to the chest. When I saw him, half his body was still floating on the lake, and the surrounding water was all stained red. However, Little Flea said that his wound showed signs of healing when pulling him up, so treatment shouldn’t be a big issue.”

”Little Birch isn’t important; what we want to know about is the captain and Mr. Renko,” someone muttered softly.

Though it sounded cruel, it was indeed the fact that Little Birch’s importance to the Moonlit Bird was far less than that of Captain Baro and Mr. Renko.

”Captain Baro’s injury is severe; Master Man broke his skull with a punch, and when I saw it, there were still fragments of bone on the ground.” Merely recalling the scene made Little Sa’s mouth tremble, showing how brutal the scene was.

”Can Captain Baro still be saved?”

Little Sa: ”... because of that man’s timely treatment, he can be saved. That’s what Little Flea said.”

Everyone present, especially those who went to the front line to support, knew who that man was. They witnessed the force capable of tearing the earth apart.

Because they had witnessed such powerful force, they hesitated to speak that person’s name, only using ”that man” as a substitute.

”What about Mr. Renko?” someone asked again.

When Renko was mentioned, a hint of sadness flashed in Little Sa’s eyes: ”I didn’t see Mr. Renko’s specific condition, but Little Flea said... said...”

Little Sa didn’t deliver the final conclusion, but some present already understood the answer.

A sailor who went to support at the battlefront hesitated for a moment before speaking: ”I actually saw Mr. Renko when I went to help near the forest; by then his condition was already terrible, with blood flowing from his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. He didn’t recognize anyone and would even attack us like a madman if we approached.”

”However, there was a heap of corpses from Broken Blood’s crew around him, each with knight’s sword cuts; it was Mr. Renko who killed them. He protected us at the cost of exhausting his own life.”

Everyone looked: ”What about him ultimately...?”

The sailor shook his head: ”No one could get close to him; eventually, it was that man who knocked him out and brought him back.”

”Will Mr. Renko be healed?” someone couldn’t help asking. To them, Renko, as their spiritual leader and guardian, held undeniable importance.

No one answered; Little Sa wore a sorrowful expression, and the sailor remained silent.

After a long while, someone spoke in a low voice: ”I heard from the ship’s guard, Mr. Renko was poisoned and consumed a forbidden drug. Either is enough to take his life; he might...”

”I don’t believe it!”

”I don’t believe it either, but the fact might really be so. Captain Baro might die, and Mr. Renko’s chances of dying are even greater.”

Everyone’s faces turned pale; even with so many people standing on the deck, the air still felt quiet and chilly.

”We shouldn’t give up hope either; remember, there’s that man with us.”

”That man, can he save Mr. Renko?”

”I’ve heard some cargo ships from shipping companies have Transcendents guarding them. It’s said they’re omnipotent; if it’s true, that man might have a way to heal him?”

In the gloomy atmosphere, because of this sentence, it lightened slightly. Ordinary people navigating the Devil’s Sea might not fully understand wizards’ powers, yet the rumored abilities of wizards had elevated their expectations.

Perhaps, there was a chance for salvation?

While everyone held on to the hope that ”that man” could perform a miracle and save both Mr. Renko and Captain Baro, ”that man” was pale, leaning against the wall of the medical room.

”Lord Asperu, are you alright?” asked a man in a white doctor’s coat with concern.

Nausicaa clutched her chest, cold sweat drenching her temples, and took a while to catch her breath before shaking her head at those around her: ”I’m fine.”

”Do you need me to check on you?”

Nausicaa: ”No need; physical injuries are nothing.”

Those around her thought Nausicaa was enduring her injuries, but it wasn’t the case. She indeed didn’t mind the physical injuries; though heavily injured, as a bloodline wizard, restoring physical injuries wasn’t too challenging, taking just ten days to half a month for complete healing.

The hardest part was non-physical injuries, such as the damage to her spiritual power and... her soul’s injuries.

These were beyond the capability of ordinary doctors to heal.

Nausicaa suppressed the discomfort in her chest and walked to the bedside to inquire: ”How are they doing?”

”Thanks to your timely treatment, Birch has multiple broken ribs, but his internal injuries are healing. His life should be safe.”

”Though Captain Baro’s injuries are severe, with your help, there’s a sign of improvement.”

Another doctor added, ”However, even if he recovers in the future, there is a significant chance his head shape will remain deformed.”

”Yes, but that’s already extremely fortunate. As long as he lives, it doesn’t matter if a big man has a slightly misshapen head.”

After talking about Birch and Baro’s injuries, Nausicaa’s gaze fell on the last hospital bed.

There was only one medical monitor beside Birch’s bed, while Baro’s bed had a doctor with two medical staff. However, near the last bed, multiple doctors were busy, including Little Flea.

From the allocation of personnel, it was clear that the patient in the last bed was in the most critical condition.

Nausicaa walked over: ”Is his condition improving?”

After a moment of silence, Little Flea, covered in sweat, shook his head sadly.

The doctors opposite, also exhausted and wearing masks, looked helpless: ”We’ve done our best, but Renko’s life is still rapidly fading.”

This fading was not due to poison, but the aftermath of taking a secret potion.

After madness comes irreversible death.

They couldn’t solve the aftermath of the secret potion, let alone the insurmountable poison.

In the eyes of the doctors, Renko was beyond saving.

However, as long as Renko still drew breath, even a thousand efforts without reward, they would still do it. This is why they remained by Renko’s side, refusing to leave.

Nausicaa looked at Renko, lying pale and ghostly on the bed, and recalled the events in the stone cave not long ago.

Though she was unconscious at the time, her Spirit sensed everything happening around her.

She heard Renko’s last words to Birch: After leaving Ghost Ship Island, inform his distant family of his death.

Such a plain will, very much like the wills her crew made when they followed her through the seas, risking everything for adventure.

Though they fought fiercely on the seas, chasing exciting lives and unafraid to challenge the waves, their wills still conveyed this same simple guilt and longing for their distant families.

Nausicaa also remembered how Renko, when they remained hidden in the stone cave but were discovered, stood up trembling without complaint, picked up the Knight’s sword, and stood fearlessly in front of everyone: ”Your opponent is me.”

This was upholding the principles of his heart with his life.

Although Nausicaa didn’t like the knight’s Holy Mother-like standards, she admired those willing to uphold their righteous principles unto death.

Moreover, her rescue from Dock #1’s ”pigsty” largely depended on Renko.

Even though she had a way to escape without their help, since they saved her, she was grateful.

So, she wanted to save Renko.

”Step back, let me take a look,” Nausicaa tapped Little Flea’s shoulder, soaked with sweat.

Little Flea: ”Master, your injuries...”

Nausicaa: ”My injuries don’t prevent me from saving a person, while you need to rest after staying up all night.”

Little Flea shook his head. Although he met Renko formally for the first time today, Renko’s actions deeply influenced Little Flea, and he was willing to contribute.

”Ask yourself, if you truly want to save him, do you think you have a way, or do I have a way?” Nausicaa said calmly.

Little Flea bowed his head and was silent for a moment before stepping back. Although he didn’t know why Nausicaa possessed such Extraordinary Power, he understood that under the current situation, Renko was basically hopeless without a Miracle.

And it was clear that Nausicaa, possessing extraordinary power, had the best chance of creating such a Miracle.

Although he stepped back a few steps, Little Flea did not rest and stood by, wanting to see how Nausicaa would operate.

The other doctors also quieted down to watch Nausicaa’s actions.

But contrary to their expectations, Nausicaa did not perform any medical tests. Instead, she extended her left index finger and gently tapped Renko’s body. From the brow to the neck, then to the heart and lungs, and finally the navel.

Each gentle tap seemed to cause an aura to surge.

And as the waves of light shimmered, Nausicaa’s face grew increasingly pale—a sign of Magical Core depletion.

After expending the last bit of Magic Power, Nausicaa’s knees gave way.

Fortunately, Little Flea responded in time to catch her, otherwise Nausicaa would have collapsed to the ground.

”Master Asberr, are you alright?”

Under the concerned gazes of everyone, Nausicaa shook her head: ”I’m fine, just a bit exhausted.”

Little Flea looked at Nausicaa, then at Renko, whose breathing was nearing failure: ”Is there any hope for Renko?”

Nausicaa’s expression turned slightly serious, remaining silent.

Although Nausicaa said nothing, the group understood her meaning.

Even a Transcendent like Nausicaa couldn’t save Renko?

Though they had already believed it was unlikely to save Renko, when the final answer became clear, their hearts were filled with deep sorrow.

The atmosphere of silence and sadness lasted a long time.

When some began to weep softly, Nausicaa finally spoke: ”I can’t save him, but I can use some means to temporarily freeze him, delaying death.”

Nausicaa’s words rekindled hope in the group, their spirits lifted once again.

”Even delaying death helps,” Little Flea said. ”Given our current environment and lack of medical facilities, we can’t treat Renko immediately. But if we manage to escape this accursed island and find a proper healing environment, perhaps we’ll save Renko!”

Little Flea’s hopeful words, however, received no echo.

How could outside medical equipment possibly surpass Nausicaa’s abilities as a Transcendent?

With Nausicaa unable to heal, Renko’s fate seemed sealed.

Little Flea understood their unspoken sentiment, remaining silent briefly before speaking: ”My medical teacher once mentioned a distant continent, home to a nation called Axo Saintia. It’s said to be the birthplace of modern medical techniques, a Holy Land of medicine that can create Miracles. If we reach it, maybe Renko can be saved.”

The other doctors had never heard of Axo Saintia and assumed Little Flea was spinning tales.

But they chose not to expose Little Flea’s ”lie,” as they themselves hoped Nausicaa could freeze Renko.

Even if it only delayed death, it was better than decaying to bones and resting forever beneath the earth.
