Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1425: Section 1426: Agility Potion

Angel wasn’t as preoccupied with thoughts as Sanders had imagined; he didn’t care whether the timing was rushed or if it was the optimal moment. All these cumbersome thoughts had been cast aside, and all his focus was now on the changes occurring within his body.

In order to break through as soon as possible, Angel had already gone through an extensive period of preparation.

Although the breakthrough came somewhat unexpectedly, when the time for the actual breakthrough arrived, various materials and images from his past preparations flashed through his mind one after another.

“The Gathering Spirit Scroll can last for one more minute,” Sanders said as he quickly tore a rift in space, “Within this minute, try your best to harmonize the balance within your body to reach the optimal state before you break through.”

Black Castle was not an ideal place for breakthroughs.

It wasn’t that there were outsiders present who might affect Angel’s breakthrough, but rather, Black Castle was situated in the Inner World, which is characterized by its rich and more active primordial magic power.

Even Official Wizards had to be extremely careful not to be overwhelmed by primordial magic power when meditating in the Inner World. Moreover, during Angel’s breakthrough, he would absorb even more primordial magic power than during meditation—if the environment influenced him and led to a failure in breakthrough, it would be a disaster that came without any wrong on his part.

In the three-layered world of Fairy Tale World, the primordial magic power in the Outer World is the least concentrated, so it’s not a concern. The magic power in the Inner World is too active, even to the point of being violent, so that’s also out of the question.

Therefore, the optimal place for a breakthrough is the Middle World, which lies between the two.

After Sanders pinpointed the coordinates, he directly took Angel to the Middle World.

And with Sanders’s departure through the space rift, a part of the people at Black Castle frowned.

Since the ground structures of Black Castle had been destroyed, now a large number of Wizards and Apprentices had been sent to the surface. Part of them were there to discuss the reconstruction of the Black Castle ruins, and another part, which consisted mostly of Apprentices, were arranged to scavenge for useful materials amongst the ruins to prevent secondary damage due to reconstruction.

Isabella, who was pale and looked somewhat frail, was leading the reconstruction work.

As Isabella was discussing some ideas for the reconstruction with the Wizards below, her eyebrows suddenly shot up.

“Such arrogance, to directly tear a space rift in the Soul Realm!” Isabella looked down with a displeased expression, and the ambient sound accompanying her, which had been calm breathing sounds, turned into shrill, high-pitched screams.

Sanders’s action was like a guest leaving the host’s home without notice by breaking down the door!

It wasn’t just impolite but, in Isabella’s eyes, utterly arrogant!

The other Wizards present also sensed the obvious spatial fluctuations and showed anger on their faces, making it clear that no one approved of Sanders’s action.

Isabella flashed her figure, ready to head towards the Soul Realm.

However, at that moment, someone appeared in front of her—it was Kimberly, whose head was adorned with a magical forest.

Kimberly’s expression was also serious, but it was different from Isabella’s, filled with a hint of surprise and daze.

“What are you stopping me for? Black Castle hasn’t officially established a friendship with Illusion Demon Island. Could it be that you’ve already decided to side with Illusion Demon Island?” Isabella said with a cold gaze.

Kimberly: “Establishing friendship is a separate matter, but this incident is not the fault of the Illusion Demon lord.”

Isabella: “Not his fault? He opened a space rift in the Soul Realm, so if it’s not his fault, should we blame Black Castle instead?”

Isabella’s words, along with her own stereo of angry shouts, looked quite imposing. Her words also made the other Wizards nod in agreement.

They even maliciously wondered whether Mrs. Kimberly, who had not returned for many years, really drifted away from Black Castle as Isabella thought?

As the atmosphere fell into a tense standoff, a figure exuding an aura of indifference appeared nearby.

“Isabella, what Kimberly said is true,” came a voice.

Isabella looked up and saw that it was Mentor Isabel arriving.

Facing the Mentor, Isabella’s aura weakened considerably, and the background sound grew calmer. However, she still spoke with a hint of discontent, “But he clearly broke the rules!”

Isabel looked at Isabella calmly, and after a while, she spoke softly, “Has your perception weakened so much?”

Isabella was taken aback, not understanding what the Mentor meant. Isabel continued, “Sanders’s situation was indeed unintentional.”

“Why?” This was not only Isabella’s question but also the doubt of the other Wizards present.

“The natural Kou wind,” Kimberly interjected softly, “Have you forgotten? Kou wind is greatly beneficial to you. What changes do you think that Angel, who is always enveloped by Kou wind, will experience?”

What changes would Angel experience? Isabella recalled Angel’s condition; he had seemingly reached the peak of Apprenticeship. If his Magical Core continued to expand due to the Kou wind… Isabella suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with disbelief, “You mean, Angel is preparing for a breakthrough?!”

Kimberly simply nodded her head lightly.

Isabel’s gaze penetrated the void, as if she could see through the swirling dark clouds into the situation in the middle layers of the world. Her expression was tinged with a sense of melancholy regret. After a long pause, she said softly, “Now, you should understand why he would tear through the space and leave this place, right?”

Isabella fell silent. Indeed, if she were in his shoes, she too would make such a choice; it was hardly something one could fault him for.

However, within Isabella’s heart, there wasn’t much enlightenment after learning the truth. Instead, there was more surprise and disbelief, which then turned into annoyance, jealousy, and resentment.

Seeing Isabella’s expression grow increasingly gloomy, Isabel shook her head secretly and said softly, “I thought that after the previous incident, you might have changed. It seems there’s still a long road ahead of you.”

Isabella snapped out of her introspection and lowered her head to speak softly, “I… I’m just a bit surprised.”

Isabel didn’t say anything more. She was surprised herself, but her surprise didn’t contain jealousy. Instead, it was filled with emotion. When she first met Angel, he was but a naive young boy who, in just a few short years, had come this far.

Such speed, such achievement—I’m afraid it’s been the fastest in the Southern Domain in nearly a thousand years.

Perhaps he doesn’t fall short even compared to some geniuses from the Origin World.

If Angel truly advances successfully, such a young Official Wizard might even make a name for himself in the Origin World, not to mention his alchemy skills that still stand firm.

However, all of these premises still hinge on Angel’s successful breakthrough.

At this moment, although everyone had different emotions, they all shared one doubt:

“Can he break through successfully?”

…

Angel was unaware of the thoughts of those at Black Castle.

At this moment, in the middle layers where he was located, he was not far from the Garden of Living Souls; back when he and Shadow had sneaked into Black Castle, they had taken this very path.

Above his head was a dome that could shield him from the magical creatures of the middle layers.

The concentration of primordial magic was also very high, and very stable—undoubtedly an optimal place for a breakthrough.

Without waiting for Sanders to remind him, Angel already sensed the weakening effect of the Mind Space Scrolls and, without hesitation, took out an Agility Potion and gulped it down, closing his eyes and entering the breakthrough phase.

Seeing Angel’s actions, Sanders didn’t speak further; he leaped hundreds of meters away and waited quietly for the outcome.

Although the Agility Potion was a liquid, when it entered his throat, it turned into a cool energy, like a gulp of ice water on a scorching summer day, bringing not a chill, but a refreshing feeling instead.

This cool energy didn’t linger in Angel’s body but slowly climbed up to his head and entered the nebulous Spirit Sea.

Before, Angel had only dared to observe the Mind Space and didn’t dare to touch the Spirit Sea because it was highly unstable during the breakthrough phase; it had been stabilized by the fluctuations from the Mind Space Scrolls.

Now, with the help of the Agility Potion, Angel dared to glimpse into the mysteries of the Spirit Sea.

Angel had previously sensed chaos in the Spirit Sea, like the ebb and flow of the tide. Now, upon this closer examination, he found that the Spirit Sea, as he had expected, was not only chaotic but also on the verge of fracturing.

If the Spirit Sea were to be likened to a real ocean, then at this moment, it resembled the ocean after being battered by hurricanes and continuous earthquakes, where raging waves were insufficient to describe its turbulence. It was comparable to the upheavals in the rhythm of the ocean found in the Illusionary Realm.

It was like the end of days.

Under the influence of this tumultuous and messy Spirit Sea, any person would probably experience dizziness, swelling in the brain, and mental confusion.

Even Wizards couldn’t avoid this.

And this is why the Agility Potion was needed.

The use of the Agility Potion is the first step in a wizard’s breakthrough—a critical step—because during a breakthrough, the Spirit Sea remains in a state of expansion, a condition that lasts until the breakthrough is completed.

Once the Spirit Sea enters an expansion state, it will become as chaotic as it is now.

At this time, changes in the Spirit Sea directly impact a wizard’s cognitive ability. The function of the Agility Potion becomes apparent at this point—it can shield the cognitive functions from the Spirit Sea’s influence.

After taking the Agility Potion, it’s possible to temporarily set aside the Spirit Sea’s expansion and focus solely on the breakthrough.

Moreover, the Agility Potion only aids and doesn’t participate in the expansion of the Spirit Sea, so using it doesn’t affect personal potential.

For this reason, the Agility Potion is something all Apprentices prepare for when facing a breakthrough.

As the cool energy of the Agility Potion soothed the Spirit Sea, Angel could clearly feel as though a membrane had separated the chaotic Spirit Sea. The uncomfortable sensations continued to surge, but they no longer affected his cognitive ability.
