Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1212: Section 1213 Seeking Tracks

“You are not the last of the Baiyuanians.”

This statement echoed in Popota’s ears. He was stunned for a long time before he realized what Angel meant.

“Besides me, there are other Baiyuanians alive?” Popota asked with trembling lips and an excited tone.

“Do you know about Lady Maya, the ‘Star Measurer,’ who recently took on a new Apprentice?” Angel replied with a rhetorical question.

After pondering for a moment, Popota said, “I remember hearing about that, indeed, Lady Maya has taken this new disciple to the Crown Star Church for further study. His name is quite unique and reminiscent of how our people are named, so it stuck with me… His name should be Dororo, if I recall correctly.”

After Popota finished speaking, he suddenly realized, “The Baiyuanian you are talking about, is it Dororo?”

Angel let out a faint smile without giving a direct answer, but Popota felt it was highly likely.

Lady Maya is a Prophet Wizard, and the disciples she takes must naturally possess a talent for prophecy. She even secured an opportunity for Dororo to study at the Crown Star Church; you must know that Maya’s other disciple, White Bear, had entered the fold many years earlier and never had such an opportunity.

It was evident that Dororo’s prophetic talent was extremely strong.

The reason Wizards coveted the Baiyuanians was precisely because of their talent for prophecy.

And then, considering his naming style… Though a name wasn’t concrete evidence, it undoubtedly made Popota even more confident in his speculation.

“Dororo’s Baiyuanian identity was confirmed by the Tree Spirit. And he has already embarked on the path of a Wizard. One day, he will become an Official Wizard. At that time, I will give him the Primeval Flame, entrust him to ignite the Baiyuan ancestral altar… So, you should stop thinking about sacrificing yourself. With the few years of life you have left, think about what you should say when you see Hua Que,” Angel said.

Angel’s words brought a glimmer of hope to Popota’s despair.

He was not alone in this world after all.

There were other Baiyuanians, alive somewhere in the world.

Suddenly, Popota burst into loud laughter. His laughter cut through the curtain of rain, causing Greerwu in the distance to look over in bewilderment.

Angel quietly watched him, as the heavy rain poured down. Popota seemed to be laughing, but under the veil of rain, it looked more like he was crying.

Angel could understand the feeling of “I am not alone.” It was like a lone star in the dark cosmos finding, billions of light-years away in the expanse of the skies, another star silently resonating with it.

Popota laughed, or perhaps cried, for a long time.

Finally, his voice slowly diminished until it vanished entirely.

After the initial excitement, Popota fell into his own sea of emotions.

If Dororo really was a Baiyuanian, he no longer had to worry. Moreover, Popota had heard when he was in Barbarian Cave that it was Angel who had led Dororo into the fold, and their relationship was no ordinary one.

Angel would undoubtedly entrust the Primeval Flame to Dororo, which Popota did not doubt for a second.

However, apart from joy, Popota felt an indescribable sense of loss and sorrow within. He had searched for a chance with his life, and yet, it was not he who would ignite the ancestral altar, which made him feel a tinge of disappointment.

Despite the disappointment, Popota was clear that this was probably the best option.

He would live a while longer to lay eyes on his sister; the ancestral altar of the Primeval Flame would not remain desolate.

Thinking this, Popota nodded at Angel, “Thank you…”

In response to Popota’s thanks, Angel remained noncommittal, silently muttering in his heart, “I’m doing this for myself, too.”

…

The oppression of the Abyssal Will didn’t last too long.

Soon, the Abyssal Will settled in the Void outside this continent, waiting silently for the land to slowly correct the turmoil of its capsizing.

Meanwhile, Greerwu and Popota finally regained the ability to move.

The moment Greerwu could move, he glanced at Angel walking towards the other side, a dark light flashing in his eyes. He quietly mustered the power of flames within him, and without hesitation, he charged towards Popota.

Turning into a fireball in mid-air, energy continuously built up, intensifying.

Even if he couldn’t kill Popota with a single blow, Greerwu was intent on teaching him a lesson!

Just as the attack was about to reach Popota, the sparks suddenly scattered in all directions.

Greerwu paused, but then saw a flash of green light before his eyes. Focusing, he noticed that the shopkeeper, who had been dozens of meters away moments earlier, had suddenly appeared in front of him.

Greerwu’s full-force strike was blocked by the shopkeeper’s extended right hand.

Green Patterns visibly flickered on the hand, absorbing all the flames into them, ultimately revealing the shopkeeper’s unblemished arm.

At that moment, Greerwu felt a chilling gaze fixed on himself.

He lifted his head to look, only to see the store owner’s previously disheveled fringe being flicked by the wind, those indifferent eyes, exuding displeasure, watching him intently.

The gaze seemed to penetrate straight to the soul, a cold sensation rising up the spine.

Greerwu’s heart skipped a beat and the strength drained from his hands.

The next second, Greerwu was sent flying by a tremendous force, experiencing a sense of weightlessness for several seconds before he regained control of his body and landed ten meters away.

Greerwu lowered his head, his shoulders trembling slightly, not daring to meet the store owner’s eyes. Thus, he overlooked the flash of surprise in Angel’s eyes.

When Angel saw Greerwu attacking Popota, he didn’t think much, acting on instinct to stop him.

By the time he had intercepted Greerwu’s attack, he suddenly remembered that in terms of power levels, he had yet to break the barrier and was still an Apprentice; whereas Greerwu, being a naturally born demon, although a lesser demon, being part of Demon nobility, even at its juvenile stage, its strength was at least at the level of an Official Wizard.

Yet he had managed to withstand Greerwu’s attack? Moreover, Angel had done so without using any other forces, simply taking it with his physical body.

Not only that, but his reaction speed had also surpassed Angel’s expectations. This reaction speed was at least a double improvement compared to before!

It meant that in the face of an enemy’s attack, he could respond more quickly.

And this was just the initial effect after the strengthening of Angel’s physical body. If, in the future, he underwent systematic training, Angel could not imagine how strong his physical body would become.

The surprise in Angel’s heart was but a fleeting moment, and when he noticed Greerwu’s shivering shoulders, Angel’s right eye narrowed… He seemed to have felt something odd about his right eye just then.

Was it the right eye that caused Greerwu’s fear? It seemed that not only the body had changed, but the right eye’s transformation was also mysterious.

Angel did not delve into it for the time being but instead let his fringe fall to cover the right eye.

“He cannot die now,” Angel said quietly, aware that Greerwu harbored hatred towards Popota. He himself was also dissatisfied with Popota’s behavior, but he could not let Popota’s soul be controlled by the Lord of the Abyss at this time.

“Whatever grievances there may be, I don’t wish to resolve them now,” Angel went on, “The anomaly of this land must have caught the eyes of others by now. We must leave this place as soon as possible, and talk about other matters later.”

Angel’s words finally calmed Greerwu’s shaking a little.

“I didn’t intend to kill it, I only wanted to teach him a lesson,” Greerwu said in a low voice, not daring to look up: “Alright, I understand.”

Greerwu subconsciously took the store owner’s words as an order, but he overlooked the doubt that had risen in his heart before: how could the store owner possibly withstand his attack with his strength?

Aoluxiya, on the other hand, had noticed this point, but it was sealed by the Primeval Flame, and dispersing its voice would consume its Soul Force. It wasn’t a big deal anyway. There were many secrets on Angel, and it didn’t bother to remind Greerwu. Besides, deep down, Aoluxiya also harbored some wariness towards Angel.

After securing Greerwu’s promise, Angel breathed a sigh of relief. He did not wish to stir any waves at this moment.

At this time, Popota also slowly got to his feet. Although he looked better with a human shape and less confusion in his eyes, maintaining clarity, the distortion in his organs was still apparent and one could hardly see the previous sunshine and handsomeness in him.

Because Popota was stark naked, Angel casually threw a black cloak towards him. After catching it and expressing thanks, he put it on.

With the cloak, he looked considerably more normal. Moreover, the cloak was inscribed with a purging Magic Pattern to remove the stench from Popota’s body.

After donning the cloak, Popota stood behind Angel.

“Angel, why are you still holding that?” Popota’s gaze, through the cloak, turned to the object in Angel’s hand.

In Angel’s hand was a delicate statue, the very token of the Cruel Scholar.

It was when Angel bent to pick up the statue that Greerwu thought he saw an opportunity to attack Popota.

“An agreement that cannot be neglected,” Angel sighed, pocketing the statue. With the green Pattern on it, the Cruel Scholar couldn’t sense him, “Let’s not talk about trivial matters for now, the most urgent thing is to leave this place.”

Once the will of the Abyss outside withdrew, surely a large number of powerful entities would come, and by then it would be too late to escape.

Angel looked at Popota: “You led us here, so you should know where this is, right?”

Not only did Angel look at Popota, but Greerwu also turned his gaze.

Popota gave a bitter smile and shook his head, “I don’t know either. With disasters occurring frequently in the Void, I could only wander blindly following some coordinates given by the Lord of the Abyss… I don’t know much about this place. When I set up the altar earlier, apart from wanting to sacrifice Aoluxiya, I also wanted to obtain information about this place from the Lord of the Abyss.”

Popota couldn’t possibly lie at this point; he truly had no idea.

With no leads, Angel could only turn his gaze to Greerwu.

Greerwu was still angry at Popota’s mention of “sacrificing Aoluxiya” but when he noticed the store owner’s gaze, he belatedly said: “I’ll ask Lord Aoluxiya, it should know.”
