Chapter 1153: Section 1154: Accelerating Collapse

“`

With a resounding crash,

the central statue crumbled to sand, and the Demon suddenly fell to the ground, unconscious.

Angel also escaped a disaster and sat on the ground, gasping for breath.

After a good while, when the white smoke in the hall had dispersed and the Dust had settled, Angel’s gaze shifted from the Demon beside him back to his own hands.

It seemed that the consciousness of the Cruel Scholar had departed, leaving behind only the mini statue in the palm of his hand.

Looking at the intricately carved statue, Angel’s thoughts were complex.

He had thought that after agreeing to the Cruel Scholar’s request, something unexpected might happen or some kind of uncontrollable Transmutation would occur; however, none of that happened.

The eerie statue lay unobtrusively in his palm.

As if the dust and smoke had settled without stirring a single ripple.

Although he didn’t know what changes might come in the future, at least for now, everything seemed calm.

Putting aside his puzzlement over the Cruel Scholar’s statue, Angel struggled to stand up. The Demon nearby was only unconscious for now, and no one could know if it would wake up soon. Therefore, the most urgent thing was to leave the underground hall.

As Angel was thinking this, his ears suddenly perked up, a sound coming from behind him,

Click-clack, click-clack… like the sound of tap-dancing shoes on a smooth floor, but the tone was sharper and louder.

Angel’s heart skipped a beat as he swiftly turned to look.

What he saw was a tall figure clad in bone armor, even its streamlined wings had a smooth, bony texture; it walked in through the main entrance, steadily approaching Angel.

With each step it took, a terrifying aura pressed in.

“Yadasai,” Angel’s pupils shrank, the name flashing through his mind.

Angel silently watched Yadasai approaching, his expression seemingly calm, but the slight trembling of his fingers under his sleeve belied the turmoil within.

Especially as Yadasai came within a hair’s breadth of him, Angel’s inner tension reached its peak.

Yadasai paused for a moment, his gaze inscrutable as he glanced at Angel, and then he continued walking, brushing past him.

It was only after a while that Angel turned his head to see that Yadasai was standing beside the Demon from earlier. Towering over the gaunt Demon in its unconscious state, the sand kicked up by its footfalls mingled with the dust motes and backlighting to cast an arresting tableau.

Although he couldn’t discern Yadasai’s expression under its bone helmet, Angel could tell it recognized the Demon lying on the ground.

Yadasai gazed at the Demon for a long time before turning to lock eyes with Angel.

“Lord Yadasai,” Angel said softly at that moment. His Magical Core was exhausted, and his Soul Force nearly depleted. Facing a Great Demon like Yadasai, he knew escape was futile, so he simply remained still until then.

Yadasai’s gaze became even more complex as it regarded Angel. Slowly, his eyes moved downward, finally settling on the mini statue in Angel’s hand.

“Why did the Cruel Scholar give his descent object to you?” Yadasai asked softly.

“Descent object?” Angel looked at the statue, “What is a descent object?”

Yadasai didn’t answer Angel, but kept questioning him with his eyes.

Angel understood that he probably wouldn’t get an answer from Yadasai, but now that he knew the name of the statue, there was always a chance to find out more later.

With this in mind, Angel softly replied, “The Cruel Scholar asked me to carry it.”

Yadasai grew more puzzled. What was a descent object? It was a device that carried the will and power of a Demon God from afar. With the power of the Cruel Scholar, a mark could have been directly seared into Angel for the descent of the will, so why take such a roundabout way and give the precious descent object to Angel?

Or was there something about Angel that made the Cruel Scholar hesitant to imprint his mark?

When Yadasai considered this, his look at Angel grew even stranger. He had wanted to ask why the Cruel Scholar had Angel carry the descent object, but out of fear for the Cruel Scholar, he kept his question to himself.

After all, like that uninvited guest, a Demon God stood behind Angel now, and the consciousness of the Cruel Scholar had been in the underground hall until just a moment ago. No one could be sure whether the Cruel Scholar’s gaze was still on this hall, and Yadasai feared his inquiry might provoke wrath.

Thinking of the uninvited guest, Yadasai couldn’t help but look back toward the main entrance.

Huh? It’s gone?

When Yadasai entered the hall earlier, he had seen that alien-like being silently watching Angel, only to find that it had quietly departed in the blink of an eye.

“`

Angel also noticed the gaze of Yadasai; speaking of which, when he saw Yadasai earlier, he also noticed a figure at the door seemingly enveloped in flames walking toward the staircase. The figure was large and covered with barbs and pus; Angel didn’t think he had seen a similar shape before, but for some reason, he felt a vague sense of familiarity.

Yadasai didn’t bother with the uninvited visitor either, since Lassudral was coming to its end and it no longer cared about that visitor.

Even for Angel, in truth, it didn’t care much, but it was somewhat curious.

Yadasai gave Angel a deep look, reached out its palm, and in an instant, countless bone chains formed, enveloping Jupiter within them. Then Yadasai slowly walked toward the main door.

As it passed Angel, Yadasai said indifferently, “I’ll take Jupiter with me. As for you, just take care of yourself.”

In the midst of the swirling smoke, the figure of Yadasai disappeared at the entrance.

The spirit Angel had mustered up also deflated as Yadasai left. Seeing Yadasai earlier, he thought he had escaped the dragon’s lair only to enter the tiger’s den, but unexpectedly, it seemed Yadasai didn’t care about him after all?

Angel relaxed his taut nerves, and that was also a relief. It now seemed he should be completely safe, even that demon had been taken away by Yadasai… Wait, what did Yadasai say the demon’s name was? Jupiter?

Why did that sound somewhat familiar?

After a while, Angel suddenly froze.

Jupiter?! He remembered Canaan had mentioned that Jupiter was a great demon, right? He had been entangled with a great demon for half a day!

Such a thing, even if he told others, they probably wouldn’t believe it! Even Angel himself, thinking about it now, felt a little dazed.

…

Sanders was hovering in midair, his brows knitted together as he constantly sensed the location of his essence blood.

Earlier, he had said he would wait until Fafnir and Komodo finished fighting before he went to look for Angel.

However, what he did not expect was Fafnir and Komodo’s fight escalating and the chaotic energy covering a wider area. What was once a small region now almost half of Lassudral was suffused with chaotic energy, and the closer to the epicenter, the denser the chaotic energy became.

This apocalyptic battle had yet to finish, and it seemed to be getting even more intense as it went on.

With their battle, it even accelerated the collapse of Lassudral.

Sanders looked down at Lassudral below; originally, the collapse began from the outer regions and slowly spread towards the center, but now, in the central region, numerous dark and deep holes had appeared. At a glance, they looked like gaping voids that suddenly appeared on the land, swallowing all the buildings and dirt around them.

And this collapse affected the place where Angel had fallen earlier.

Originally, Sanders wanted to go look for Angel, but now, a huge hole leading directly to the void had appeared near that area.

The only good news was that Sanders could feel that his essence blood had not undergone significant changes. Although relying on the essence blood made it difficult to determine Angel’s current situation, at least the essence blood had not been impacted by outside forces, which meant Angel was likely safe.

But where Angel was now, Sanders found it difficult to pinpoint.

Considering the current situation in Lassudral’s core area, the only safe place underground might just be the Void Tower. But the defense of the Void Tower was too strong; no external force could penetrate it. Fafnir and Komodo were also fighting outside the Void Tower. Moreover, there were several terrifying entities inside the Void Tower now, and even Nitotipu had entered the Void Tower.

“I hope you… are alright,” Sanders whispered to himself.

At that moment, a streak of light suddenly flashed by in the distance. Sanders turned his head and saw a luminescence, shining with the colors of colored glaze, cutting through the fiery sparks that filled the air, heading straight for the floating ice in the sky.

And as the streak of light made its way, suddenly a shadow split off from it and flew towards Sanders.

Soon, the shadow arrived beside Sanders.

“I just heard from Maher that Angel was in trouble; how is he now?” The newcomer was an old man with a lean figure, white eyebrows trailing down to his chest, wearing a blue and black embroidered tri-corner wizard’s hat with lanwei flowers.

“I don’t know, I feel that my essence blood is still intact. Angel’s condition should be fine, but his location… I suspect he’s inside the Void Tower.”

“Inside the Void Tower, that might be problematic.”

They fell silent, both aware of the very special circumstances of the Void Tower at the moment. At least, until the collapse of Lassudral truly spread to the Void Tower, it remained an absolute no-go zone.

“Kanter, how are things on your end?” After a brief silence, Sanders asked.

The tri-corner-hat old man was indeed Kanter; he sighed and said, “The Hunting Museum has collapsed. Aoluxiya is running towards the central area. Samantha and Sinafa are now on their way to report to Lord Monty, probably ready to take action.”

Monty’s target was originally Aoluxiya, so taking action wasn’t surprising. Sanders was more curious about, “What about… the Night Museum’s owner?”

“I haven’t seen her, but looking at the fiery situation in the sky, it shouldn’t be long before she appears.”
