Warhammer Divine Throne

”It’s rare to see you dressed like this.” Laine joked, having won the champion duel and advanced in battle, blessed eternally by the Lake Fairy, Laine had no reason not to be happy.

”This skirt is very short and easily exposes me. I only wear it in front of you because you like it. Actually, I don’t really like wearing stockings.” The female sorcerer stretched out her slender fingers and lightly tugged at the black stockings on her leg: ”Wearing stockings easily attracts men’s gazes, which I hate. Also, it’s more convenient to wear pants in a fight, as skirts can easily get torn.”

”Yes, you’re not wrong.” Laine noticed Teresa looked preoccupied, so he tried asking, ”What’s wrong? You seem a bit unhappy.”

”Laine... I, we might have to go our separate ways. I received a notification from the Council, there has been new progress in the excavation of the Wizard Empire ruins...” The female sorcerer unhappily told Laine what had happened.

”So, you have to go back to the Jialan Council?” Laine looked somewhat regretful on the surface, but in his heart, he almost laughed out loud. He thought with his current fame, he should contact the Wizard Alliance or the Imperial Royal Wizard Academy; if all else fails, he could even directly go to the Saintess Order under the Lake Fairy. He didn’t believe those saintesses and female prophets wouldn’t help him.

”Veronica said she will take my place. She will meet us in Marinburg, and then I will hand over to her.” Teresa was really unhappy. The woman didn’t know what else to say. The excavation work was indeed more important: ”So the few days on the passenger ship are our last days together.”

”Veronica is coming? That’s okay… What do you mean last days together? It sounds like we won’t see each other again.” Laine complained, then he felt a bit awkward: ”Uh, I need to get up and change. Can you go to your room for a bit?”

”What do you mean my room? My room is your room. We share this room, you can change behind the screen.” Teresa gestured towards the standing screen in the room.

”Share a room??” Laine had a pained expression: ”Can you tell me what’s going on? Weren’t two rooms booked?”

”Your friend Alfred successfully persuaded his Archbishop, and he’ll be joining you on your adventure. Besides, that Wandering Knight named Lops seems to have a history with you. So I gave your room to them.” The female sorcerer didn’t care about those things: ”After all, this room has two beds.”

”Alright then.” Laine awkwardly slipped behind the screen to change clothes.

As he took off his nightwear, Laine noticed a Holy Grail pattern on his chest. The Lake Fairy had engraved her eternal blessing with powerful divine power—this was the highest level of gift the Lake Fairy could offer him.

The Holy Grail Engraving, the lifelong pursuit of many Brittania Knights.

Extreme magic resistance, immune to fourth-ring and below magic.

Extreme ranged resistance, immune to most conventional bows, crossbows, and other ranged weapons.

The sacred Holy Grail Engraving proved the Lake Fairy’s preference for Laine. In addition, her blessing allowed Laine to greatly exempt himself from enemy prophecies or curses since the Lake Fairy herself possessed the domain of prophecy, and the engraving could also speed up Laine’s physical recovery.

Having advanced to Legendary Middle-tier, Laine’s physique and arm strength had increased by more than half, exponentially. With the Lake Fairy’s eternal blessing, he could now stride confidently at Legendary Level 1; even if he couldn’t win a fight outright, he wouldn’t lose.

I guess this is another form of being a Holy Grail Knight... just without drinking the Lady’s Holy Grail Water (footwash), Laine thought to himself.

With the traits of a Holy Grail Knight—extreme magic resistance, extreme ranged resistance, and never tiring—he had them all.

Once dressed, Laine noticed it was already noon; he had lunch with Teresa, and then the two of them sat on the bed, discussing the next steps.

”At the moment, while our lead is broken, deducing the Fallen Hunter’s whereabouts shouldn’t be difficult. Since the Aesthetic Society’s headquarters is in Marinburg, although you can’t continue, I will carry on, and... if nothing goes wrong, I will soon receive an invitation.” Laine sat on his bed, Teresa leaning on his shoulder. The woman didn’t seem to be listening to his analysis: ”Uh~ are you listening to me?”

”What’s the point of discussing this now? You can talk to Veronica yourself.” Teresa leaned on his shoulder, whispering softly in his ear: ”Let’s change the topic.”

”Change the topic?” Laine hadn’t reacted yet when Teresa’s white lace gloves had already been tossed aside. Her small hand intertwined with his fingers, her face flushed red as she asked, ”Laine, what do you think about what I told you last time...”

”Dong~dong~dong~” Intense knocking came from the door; it was Alfred’s voice: ”Laine! Laine! Come out, something big has happened!!!”

”What is it?” Laine gently pat the woman’s hand, stood up to open the door, leaving behind the female sorcerer with a flushed face and eyes filled with resentment directed at the door.

Walking out from the cabin, Alfred caught Laine and wouldn’t let go: ”Laine, you’ve become famous! His Majesty Carl Franz has announced your deeds nationwide! The Lady of the Lake has also spread your story throughout Brittania via the Saintess Order; now your name is being sung across the entire Continent, you’re famous!”

On the ship, his childhood friend wasn’t wearing his full armor but a pristine church ritual attire, looking very much like a handsome blond gentleman, though he still wore scale armor beneath. Seeing Laine slightly dumbfounded, Alfred firmly slapped his chest: ”Good friend! Do you know what’s happened outside?”

”What is it?” Laine followed Alfred to the deck, looking out at the vast ocean and clear skies, waves surging around them.

The sea breeze tousled Laine’s black hair.

”The Lake God Witch publicly announced at the Saintess Order that you were able to defeat the Barbarian Chief Bireg thanks to the blessing of the Lady. Meanwhile, the White Wolf Church’s Archbishop Maras declared that it was the Master of the White Wolf’s motivation that allowed you to win the champion duel.” Alfred said excitedly: ”While doing my morning prayers today, the Lord told me about it.”

”So, what do you think?” Laine chuckled lightly. The man didn’t express an opinion.

”I just want to know! Whose help did you actually receive? This is crucial!” Alfred wouldn’t let go, eager to find out which external tale was true.

Laine didn’t answer him; the White Wolf Knight just pulled down a corner of his shirt.

In Alfred’s emerald green eyes, the Holy Grail pattern shimmered brightly.

......

In the void, another dispute erupted.

”You wicked witch, you’re shamelessly stealing my glory!” Yurik shouted furiously at the figure before him: ”I demand an explanation!”

”You can’t stop him from believing in me. The agreement among the deities is that no one can forcibly seize faith. Laine is now my Divine Favored, my Divine Chosen Champion.” The Lake Fairy, standing opposite Yurik, mocked the White Wolf God’s sudden realization: ”According to the agreement, he is merely a knight of your retinue, but he is my Divine Chosen Champion. So from now on, the ownership of this foreigner belongs to me!”

”Yurik, you could certainly announce to expel him from the White Wolf Knight Order, call him a traitor. But what would happen if you did that? What would other humans think?” She taunted. ”Even the most unpredictable and quick-tempered deities need followers, and without them, what would become of you?”

Even the most impulsive and wrathful of deities require worshipers. Apart from the Chaos God, no deity dares to make such a decision lightly, least of all to denounce Laine as a traitor, especially when he had single-handedly repelled the Barbarian forces.
