She had foreseen the ending, even before they got to that part. Yan Chen failed to meet her in time. Otherwise, Lan Waihu and Lan Yue would not have announced their engagement. Everything would not have happened the way it did.

Lan Waihu started sobbing in her sleep. “Why? Why didn’t you come to see me? I returned in time, but you never came.”

Gu Xijiu sighed. She finally knew why Lan Waihu did not want to talk about it. Firstly, she was a very kind-hearted girl, so she preferred not to talk bad about his parents. Secondly, she made a promise to Lan Yue. If she talked about it too much, she would easily expose his true identity.

Gu Xijiu did not know that Lan Yue was a member of the Blue Fox family. He had been in Tianju Hall for three years, which was half a year earlier than the breakup between Lan Waihu and Yan Chen.

Logically speaking, he should have brought Lan Waihu back to the Blue Fox family, since they were now together. Also, they were already engaged. Moreover, he was of noble descent. Keeping a noble from the family for so long was inappropriate. Why did he do so, then? Was it because Lan Waihu did not want to follow him, so he had to stay behind to show his sincerity? It did not seem like it.

Lan Yue was no ordinary man. He seemed smart. He did not only conceal his identity; but he also hid away his Kung Fu from the world as well.

Gu Xijiu was well aware that Chen Yan’s mother cared about Lan Waihu’s background. However, what Yan Chen liked about Lan Waihu was who she truly was, and the affection had nothing to do with her background.

As for Lan Yue, he might not be entirely fond of Lan Waihu. He could be interested in her only because of her identity. From the fragments in her dreams, Lan Waihu’s status in Blue Fox’s family seemed noble and highly privileged, even the arrogant Lan Yue was tempted.

Gu Xijiu took a look at Lan Waihu. She looked very insecure. She did not realize that Lan Waihu was very deeply in love with Yan Chen until she saw it herself from her dreams. She had a deep affection for Yan Chen. The more in love she was, the more she was going to get hurt, which was why the nightmares so deeply haunted her.

Gu Xijiu was in great disappointment. She cared about Lan Waihu, so she could not bear seeing her suffer from the grievance. She had to get justice for her. Thus, she decided that she had to pay a visit to Yanzi Town. She had to meet Yan Chen’s mother and Leng Wushuang and see for herself how harsh they were in the family conflict. Before she went to see them, they presented themselves at Tianju Hall instead the next morning.

When Lan Waihu heard the news, she was getting ready to dress up. She would rather keep it to herself and not tell anyone. She seemed so vulnerable when she was sleeping, but returned to her cheerful self again when she woke up, happily whirling around Gu Xijiu.

When the servant informed her about their arrival, she was so utterly shocked that she lost hold of the comb in her hand. Gu Xijiu was surprised, as she did not think that they would present themselves at the door.

She grabbed Lan Waihu’s hand. “Let’s go! Let us go and meet them.”

Frozen, Lan Waihu stood her ground, not moving an inch. “I don’t want to see them.”

Gu Xijiu acted as though she did not know about her dilemma. “Why not? Let’s go. You grew up in Yan’s family, so Yan Chen’s mother is also your family. There is nothing wrong for you to see them. Furthermore, you owe them nothing. Let’s go. Let’s go!”

She pulled her out, allowing no further explanation.

Lan Waihu had always listened to Gu Xijiu. This time was no exception, so she followed her.

Tianju Hall would not usually allow outsiders to visit. However, Yan Chen was one of the best students in school, so Gu Canmo permitted his mother’s visit as a favor. He invited them straight to the main hall.
