166: Chapter 166 The Novice’s TrialThe seven people who entered the Backside World temporarily forgot that their time was limited and looked around—everything was exactly the same as it was when the server opened: there were trendy buildings that didn’t fit the era, and even the shop NPCs that players encountered most often.

Only two years or so had passed, so the buildings weren’t much different from when the server opened, but the composition of the NPCs had changed—in the dynamic world of otherworld, the roles and locations of NPCs often changed.

”Look over there! It’s Auntie Leona!”

Shana, a member of the Wind Guild participating in this expedition, pointed at the NPC Leona, who used to buy monster materials from players, and shouted.

Leona was an NPC that every player who started the game in the Boer Kingdom had seen at least ten times, but she had disappeared inexplicably about a year after the server opened and could no longer be found in The Original World (Primordial Domain).

- ”Wow, pure nostalgia!”

- ”It brings back memories!”

- ”I miss those days.”

- ”Can NPCs be copied?”

- ”Reminds me of the hard times when I was a beginner.”

These NPCs, which could only be seen in old recordings, made the audience, including the seven people, fall into reminiscence. The human world was in crisis, and some viewers even desperately hoped to return to the days of playing games without a care in the world.

”Then let’s split up.”

While everyone was shocked by the scene from when the server first opened, Fu Hao, who had calmed down first, spoke up on behalf of the group. They didn’t come to the Backside World for nostalgia, but to find a way to save The Original World.

”Follow the plan. If you run into trouble, find unexpected hidden items, or need assistance from other players, message me privately.”

Fu Hao confirmed the matters mentioned earlier one last time, and the six people, including Chaos, nodded with solemn expressions—though it was uncertain whether the expression under Chaos’s doll costume was truly solemn.

”Dismissed!”

Following Fu Hao’s signal, the six set off separately. Fu Hao, left alone, also headed toward his first target—the entrance to the ”Beginners Trial” dungeon that existed in every starting area.

Fu Hao was moving on foot for the first time in a long while. Although the coordinate records for the teleportation gem had long since covered every corner of major cities like the royal capital, this was a different world from the Primordial Domain, and the coordinates were not interchangeable.

He had tried using the teleportation gem as soon as he passed through the portal, but it didn’t work as expected; if he wanted to use it in the Backside World, he would have to re-record the coordinates.

Another cheat-level movement method, the ”flight artifact,” was also unusable for him now—although Loki’s artifact had strong performance, its requirements for level and stats were much higher than other items. And Fu Hao, who was still at Level 1 with all stats at their initial values, could barely use any artifacts.

”Is the entrance to the Boer Kingdom’s trial dungeon really this far away... Is this the shortest path?”

The long-distance walk, which he hadn’t done in a long time, made Fu Hao realize that he had been playing the game too easily before.

It’s like this with everything; you only realize how inconvenient things are after you lose them, especially the ”cheating methods” in the game—just like being able to change stats and items at will in a single-player game, once you return to normal mode, the sense of disparity becomes even stronger.

- ”He’s so used to teleporting, he’s probably going to walk until he’s dizzy, right?”

- ”His teleportation gem got confiscated, haha!”

- ”Is this a rich guy experiencing life as a commoner?”

- ”The roads in the Boer Kingdom are indeed winding.”

The audience, watching Fu Hao—who was accustomed to teleporting—walk to his destination, inexplicably felt a sense of relief. Although Fu Hao was still faster than ordinary players thanks to the enhancement effect of his +10 shoes, the audience didn’t care about such details.

”Huff... huff... finally here.”

Thirty minutes later, Fu Hao panted (a sensory reaction in the virtual world) and looked at the familiar sign:

”Beginners Trial” Ranking Board

1st Place -

2nd Place -

3rd Place -

4th Place -

5th Place -

* Note: The record is the comprehensive ranking for the ”Beginners Trial” dungeon in all areas.

* Note: The level in the record is the level upon clearing.

”Just as I thought.”

As Fu Hao expected, unlike the ranking board in The Original World, the ranking board in the Backside World was completely blank, with nothing written on it.

- ”Wow, breaking it means First Clear + Fastest, huge profit!”

- ”I’m envious.”

- ”Fu Hao already has the fastest record, will it repeat?”

- ”I wanted to see Leonhardt compete with him on clear speed, what a pity.”

Leaving aside the First Clear, as long as Fu Hao cleared the Beginners Trial in the Backside World, he would become the only record holder—because there was a level restriction for entering the ”Beginners Trial” dungeon: one must be below Level 10. Even if Leonhardt and the other five wanted to enter, they couldn’t because their levels were too high.

[Entering the ”Beginners Trial” dungeon.]

- ”The last record was 13 minutes 47 seconds.”

- ”How long will it take this time?”

Like the previous Trial of the Troll dungeon, he could clear it fastest without taking any damage if he summoned Golden, but his level wasn’t high enough now, so the summoning system couldn’t be used.

In the past, when he cleared the Beginners Trial, he only equipped a +10 sword and a few pieces of +7 armor, but now it was different: he was wearing a full set of +10 equipment, and even the effect conversion was perfectly completed, especially that sword:

”troll sword (+10)”

Grade: Hero (Growth-type, Bound)

Usage Condition: Clear the Trial of the Troll

Growth Stage: Lv. MAX

Attack Power: 1291 ~ 2646 Durability: 60 / 60 Weight: 45

* Attack Power + 200

* When an attack lands, all HP recovery amount + 20% within 10 seconds

* When an attack lands, inflict Bleed on the target

* Attack Power + 20%

* Attack Power + 30%

* Attack Power + 30%

* When an attack lands, gain a buff of Attack Power + 10% for 10 seconds (stacks up to 10 times)

* When an attack lands, 0.1% chance to trigger a 10-hit combo

This was a bound weapon with no level requirement. The +10 troll sword at max growth stage was far more powerful than a regular +10 sword. Of course, it was still far from the sword he had been using recently, but among the weapons he could equip at Level 1, it was unrivaled.

If his achievements had also been wiped when the ”Creation Authority” was reset, he wouldn’t be able to use this sword—fortunately, the achievements had been preserved.

Fu Hao held the long-lost sword and breathed a sigh of relief. To increase the hit rate of Margo’s protection skill, he had destroyed all his bound items (bound items could not be moved from the inventory to the Subspace), but after much hesitation, he had kept this troll sword.

Firstly, it was a memento of his first clear of the trial dungeon, and secondly, the hardship of upgrading it to +10 made it unforgettable. Like most players, Fu Hao had more sentimental attachment to ”items obtained through great effort.”

This seemingly superfluous obsession was helping him now—this sword could be used up to Level 200 at least, making it a reliable pillar for him, as he needed to grow from Level 1 again.

”Yaah—!”

From the Goblins in the first area to the dual-axe Boss in the last area, Fu Hao swept through everything with the overwhelming attack power of the troll sword.

There were trap areas in the Beginners Trial dungeon unrelated to fighting monsters, but don’t forget, although he was wearing ”beginner equipment,” it was a full +10 set—for example, the top with the effect of ”completely immune to damage when HP is below 10%”; relying on these cheat-level +10 stats, he passed through the trap areas without taking any damage.

[Cleared the ”Beginners Trial” dungeon.]

[Clear Time: 9 minutes 20 seconds 194]

[Ranking: 1st Place]

[Clear time and ranking will be recorded on the ranking board at the dungeon entrance.]

[First Clear of the ”Beginners Trial” dungeon.]

[Obtained title ”Beginners Trial [First Clear]”.]

Fu Hao waited for subsequent prompts, but nothing appeared.

”...Looks like it can’t be obtained repeatedly.”

He had secretly hoped to get the ”Fastest Clear” and ”First Clear Without Damage” titles he already had, after all, when the ”Creation Authority” reset his stats, the stat bonuses from these two titles were gone, and he would have been happy even if just the bonuses were restored. But in the end, other than the First Clear title, there was nothing.

But the effect of this First Clear title exceeded his expectations.

”Let’s check the title effect... Hmm?”

He had assumed it would be similar to other trial dungeons, with the First Clear title effect being about the same as the Fastest title, but the Beginners Trial title was different—in addition to the same growth buff and stat buff, it had an extra new effect.
