122: Chapter 122 The New SnowballAccording to stories heard from Rahim during a past infiltration of the Dwarf Kingdom, in that savage settlement for exiled races—Mondo—there exists a group of elves who fought bloodily in the Human-Demon War, only to be heartlessly abandoned by the human world in the end.

This was a secret revealed by the few dwarves who returned to the Dwarf Kingdom from that dead, silent land of Mondo; its level of secrecy was so high that even Ella, who was known for ”containing all the knowledge in the world,” knew nothing about it.

The Grand Library of the Kalis Empire was far more than just a repository for ancient texts. Perhaps to maintain the resounding reputation of ”containing all the knowledge in the world” that echoed across the continent, it operated a vast and efficient network of information-gathering agencies, collecting every scrap of information from every corner of the world.

From major events that rewrote history to the trivial gossip of the streets, as long as it passed their rigorous verification process, everything was recorded and archived.

However, unlike ordinary visitors, Ella, as the true successor of the Grand Library, could use her special skills to access the complex stream of information archived within the last 30 years, yet she still failed to find any trace of the elves of Mondo.

Fu Hao understood at this moment: in the entire human world, the only ones who held this critical piece of information were him and Helm!

”To think... I survived because of this.”

That seemingly reckless and perilous infiltration of the Dwarf Kingdom had now become his only straw to clutch at for survival.

The trajectory of fate was like a giant, rolling snowball: the time it rolled toward the legendary dungeon caused the World Tree to entangle with his fate line; and this chain reaction triggered by the Dwarf Kingdom had once again, at the very last second, firmly grasped his fate as it was about to slide into the abyss.

Truly, life is unpredictable! Fu Hao left Ella a brief but heartfelt word of thanks, then set off without hesitation on the journey to Mondo—of course, he did not forget to take along that ”trouble” who had been temporarily set aside, Yongyuan.

Mondo—this cursed land of exile was home to a variety of other races: from those who had been enslaved and humiliated by humans in the past, to mysterious existences unknown to human civilization.

But there was no place for humans here. Those elves who had thrown themselves into the Human-Demon War for the survival of their race were completely different from their kin who had established cooperative relationships with humans in secret.

Most of the other races in Mondo harbored resentment toward humans; even if they did not have monstrous hatred, they certainly had no goodwill whatsoever.

Fu Hao had originally planned to use a mysterious item he had copied from the Elf Kingdom earlier to disguise himself as an elf, but he knew well that mere physical resemblance was far from enough.

The unique thought processes and behavioral patterns of elves were not something an outsider could easily imitate. Therefore, he desperately needed the assistance of Yongyuan, who had lived in the Elf Kingdom for two whole years and had even ascended the Elf King’s throne.

”Mr. Fu Hao, where are you taking me? And... the livestream is not on.”

As an elf stranded alone in the human world, the only pillar Yongyuan could rely on was Fu Hao.

Therefore, even though Fu Hao signaled her to board the flying artifact without saying a word, she obediently followed suit.

However, as the flying artifact continued to speed toward an unknown destination and Fu Hao still showed no signs of starting the livestream, her intense curiosity finally got the better of her, and she asked.

”To Mondo.” Fu Hao spat out the place name concisely, ”You should know what kind of place Mondo is, right?”

”I know, it is... the wilderness where exiles gather, right?”

”Correct.” Fu Hao nodded, ”To resolve the disaster caused by the World Tree, we need to go to Mondo and seek the assistance of at least one hundred elves.”

The flying artifact glided steadily above the clouds. Time was still sufficient, and Fu Hao was not anxious.

The real challenge lay in the actions after arriving in Mondo. He told Yongyuan everything he had learned from Ella without reservation: ”Do you think... the elves of Mondo would be willing to help a human?”

”Well... I will have to see for myself to know.” Yongyuan tilted her head, then revealed a cunning smile, ”However, they probably will help, right? If they really refuse to help...”

As she spoke, she pulled an item from her bosom as if by magic—a seal emitting a faint green glow and engraved with intricate elven runes—and showed it to Fu Hao, ”Then I will just use the authority of the Elf King to pardon their ’crimes’ of exile, and then just issue a direct order!”

Thanks to using a teleportation gem earlier to transfer directly from the Elf Kingdom to a human territory far from its sphere of influence, the token symbolizing the Elf King’s authority had actually remained with her.

”As expected! I knew bringing you along was the right choice!” Just as a joyful smile appeared on Fu Hao’s face, Yongyuan ruthlessly poured a bucket of cold water on him:

”However... Fu Hao, you are not planning on just going there and asking with empty hands, are you?”

Although the root of the World Tree trouble was that she had transferred that fraudulent contract to Fu Hao, Yongyuan acted as if it had nothing to do with her and calmly made a request to Fu Hao.

Fu Hao had no intention of arguing with her pointlessly—after all, it was he who was being chased by the disaster triggered by the World Tree and had his eyebrows singed, not Yongyuan.

The key to the problem was whether he could satisfy her request. Although Yongyuan was always engaging in annoying cheering during the livestreams, in essence, she was just a fan in Fu Hao’s livestream room who was in a rather ”pitiful” situation.

She knew better than anyone the staggering level of Fu Hao’s spending in the otherworld. If she asked for the amount Fu Hao spent in a day, Fu Hao would not be able to pay it; the same went for specific items—subject to strict trading restrictions, he was simply unable to satisfy her.

However, unexpectedly, her request was neither for money nor items:

”...Speak, what do you want?” Fu Hao asked cautiously.

”Please let me become Mr. Loki’s disciple!” Yongyuan stared at Fu Hao, her eyes bursting with fiery light.

”Huh?” Fu Hao did not react for a moment.

”As long as I can become Loki’s disciple, I can rightfully stay with Leonhardt all the time! Ah! Do not worry, I will not disturb Leonhardt! I will only watch from afar, with a gaze full of warmth and admiration...” She excitedly described the future scene.

”Alright! No need to say any more.”

”Ah, okay.” Yongyuan obediently shut her mouth.

For the first time in his life, Fu Hao felt genuine relief at the fact that Yongyuan was a fanatical fan of Leonhardt—if her request was merely to become Loki’s disciple, then the matter became exceptionally simple.

After all, that great mage and craftsman Loki, who was obsessed with various magic and artifact experiments, would never refuse a former Elf King who possessed elven blood, was proficient in elemental knowledge, and knew countless secrets of the elven race, offering herself up as an excellent research subject.

Perhaps there was no need for Fu Hao to mediate at all; she only needed to walk up and say a word to successfully achieve her wish.

”Okay, I agree to your request.” Fu Hao readily agreed, ”I will leave the recruitment of the elves in Mondo entirely to you.”

”Do not worry, leave it to me!” Yongyuan patted her chest and promised.

The two smiled at each other, as if they had reached a deal, and shook hands solemnly.

However, Yongyuan, immersed in the dream of being close to Leonhardt, overlooked a key fact: Mondo was not only far from the core areas of human civilization, but also far from the lush forests of the Elf Kingdom.

”How long... until we reach Mondo?” She looked at the sea of clouds speeding past the porthole and asked suddenly.

”Assuming the positioning coordinates are accurate enough, it will take about 4 days and 7 hours.” Fu Hao checked the navigation information of the flying artifact.

”What? That far?!” Although she knew Mondo was located in a remote area, Yongyuan had not expected that it would still take so long even with the teleportation gem and the flying artifact.

”I still have not seen Leonhardt yet...” Having finally escaped the Elf Kingdom, she now had to wait for more than four days again. Even though Leonhardt was already within reach, a shadow fell over her face.

Since the otherworld opened, the administrator Department Head Chen Guyun had never felt the emotion known as ”boredom.”

He was like an omniscient and omnipotent god, yet transcendent and detached, observing everything that happened in this vast virtual world alone.

Merely observing the adventures, conflicts, laughter, and tears of the players had already brought him a huge satisfaction that far exceeded the sum of all his life’s pleasures before the server opened.

However, recently, he began to feel that the pleasures he had experienced over the past two years seemed to have become somewhat ”insignificant”—and the source of all these changes was that player named Fu Hao.

Fu Hao had first summoned the Demon King in the heart of the human territory in an unimaginable way, stirring up monstrous waves; now, he had personally planted the World Tree, a massive source of disaster with immeasurable power.

Even though the otherworld was known for its ultra-high degree of freedom, it still had its design boundaries and rules. But Fu Hao seemed to completely ignore these boundaries, continuously making crazy moves that even the most imaginative designers had never conceived of.

Out of a mood mixed with curiosity and worry, Department Head Chen Guyun visited the player community for the first time since the server opened, wanting to see with his own eyes how the players were reacting to this huge crisis triggered by the World Tree:

[If this continues, the server is really going to be finished, right? (+10 comments)]

[Did Fu Hao really plant the World Tree in his territory? Are there pictures for proof? (+31 comments)]

[What if the game dies? I have invested all my assets into it! (+22 comments)]

[Suddenly all growth rates have a debuff? (+15 comments)]

[If the game dies, what am I supposed to play! (+8 comments)]

Although there were still a few players who failed to recognize the severity of the situation and were joking around, the mainstream voice in the community was already filled with panic and anxiety.

A large number of players were sincerely praying that the otherworld would continue to exist. The penalty of a 90% reduction in growth rate would not directly lead to the server shutting down, but the vicious cycle it brought...

The gap between new and old players was infinitely widened, newcomers were lost due to despair, and old players were gradually quitting due to the complete stagnation of growth and the drastic change in the game’s atmosphere—ultimately, making the server ”die” was just a matter of time.

And if a game of such scale and depth as the otherworld were to truly fall, it would likely be difficult for a comparable work to appear for decades to come.

”Fortunately... there is still a way to solve it.” Department Head Chen Guyun also breathed a sigh of relief in his heart. He also did not want to see the otherworld come to an end.

There were still too many stories that the players did not yet know. Besides the Demon World, which had just been stepped into by players, there were countless mysterious regions like Mondo that even those ”reborn” ones who possessed future information had never set foot in.

He absolutely did not want these meticulously constructed backgrounds and buried story lines to be buried forever.

Fortunately, Fu Hao not only had the strong will to solve the problem, but also possessed the key information leading to the solution.

This kind of world-class event, which was completely beyond expectations and of such a massive scale, was usually extremely difficult to find a reasonable solution for. But Fu Hao seemed to always be able to do it. Of course, this solution itself also had a small, interesting problem:

”Mondo, huh...” Department Head Chen Guyun’s fingers tapped lightly on the invisible control panel, ”I thought it would be a very, very long time before players set foot on that land.”

Scattered rumors about Mondo, like broken puzzle pieces, had long been scattered in some corners of the game world, but almost no one could piece together its complete picture, especially among the player community.

After all, who would be willing to spend months trekking through unknown dangers just to explore a barren land that had no clear treasure legends and no known quest lines?

Even if there were a very small number of players with skyrocketing desire for exploration who tried, the probability of successfully arriving was infinitely close to zero. Therefore, Department Head Chen Guyun had always believed that large-scale player access to Mondo would be a very distant future.

However, the appearance of Fu Hao—this top-tier ”unconventional existence.” He not only wanted to go to Mondo, but also possessed an efficient method to cross that seemingly insurmountable distance. This made him embark on the journey to Mondo much earlier than the time point Department Head Chen Guyun had expected.

”A new snowball... is starting to roll again.” Department Head Chen Guyun gazed at the light point of Fu Hao moving at high speed on the virtual map, imagining the series of chain reactions and future developments that might be triggered by this, a helpless yet expectant smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, and he shook his head gently.
