Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 621: Chapter 619: Wild Temple

”My lord, we caught a spy.”

Just as Gu Xi was observing the wild temple before him, Robbie and several Skeleton Two-Handed Swordsmen hurried over.

In his hand, he held a man dressed in a Daoist robe.

It was clear that this man was alive.

When he was caught, he was struggling continuously.

”I’m not a spy, I’m not a spy!”

Robbie didn’t show any courtesy to this guy, hoisting him up and dropping him directly in front of Gu Xi.

The man rolled on the ground, trying to stand up, but two Two-Handed Heavy Swords pressed against his neck.

Faced with this situation, the man was almost in tears.

”No, you can’t do this, I’m really not a spy.”

Gu Xi glanced at him, ”Go on, what’s your story? Don’t lie to me, you’re already on the Yellow Springs Road, I don’t mind sending you a bit further.”

”I’m a Daoist from the Kaisan Sect, I originally wanted to walk the Underworld via the Wild Netherworld Temple, but who knew it would get seized? My Walking Yin Line is still here, so I’m stuck.”

”Walking in the Underworld?”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi immediately recognized that the so-called Wild Netherworld Temple referred to the wild temple before him, yet he was unfamiliar with Walking in the Underworld.

He had only heard of it, but it wasn’t within the domain of the Undead Mage.

An Undead Mage wanting to enter the Underworld doesn’t need the hassle of Walking in the Underworld.

”Yes, our Kaisan Sect specializes in using Walking in the Underworld to help people contact their family or search for Underworld medicines for a living. We have professional methods and setups for Walking in the Underworld.

Each time we prioritize our safety, and there’s not much outside our Kaisan Sect in terms of Walking in the Underworld.”

Seeing that Gu Xi was approachable, the man began to boast.

However, the more he boasted, the quieter his voice became.

Because he noticed the impatience in Gu Xi’s eyes.

”Earlier you said your Walking Yin Line is here, what’s that mean?”

”The thing is, our Walking in the Underworld is different from my lord physically entering the Yellow Springs; we enter with our souls. To ensure we don’t get lost, we usually open the Yellow Springs Road at specific temples.

And at the entrance of the Yellow Springs Road, we leave a spool of red thread.

That’s our Walking Yin Line. Once in, as long as the red thread remains, we can find our way back and not get lost in the Yellow Springs.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi understood the situation here, quite admiring these Kaisan Sect people.

It was obviously a case of using official resources for private gain.

Originally, the wild temples on the Yellow Springs Road were meant for weak Undead to rest; resting there spared them the suffering of soul weakening and even restored some spiritual essence.

But the Kaisan Sect used this wild temple as a landmark, using it to enter and exit the Yellow Springs.

The functionality shifted to resemble that of the Ghost Village under Gu Xi’s command.

It’s akin to a street lamp meant for nighttime lighting being used by someone to charge an electric vehicle by pulling a wire from it.

It counts as personal gain but you can’t catch evidence easily.

Gu Xi naturally didn’t want to meddle, it wasn’t his issue, he just asked one thing.

”But doing it this way, you must enter and exit from the same spot, right?”

”Uh, yes, from where we enter we must exit, but now the Wild Netherworld Temple is taken, I can’t go back. If this drags on, I won’t be able to return to the living.

My lord, you are here on the Soul Gathering Land task, right?

I can help you.”

Gu Xi glanced at this man, without much hesitation, and extended his hand saying, ”Breath of the Dead, Gu Xi.”

”Oh, Kaisan Sect Yellow Robe Daoist Red Eyes, my lord, you can call me Red Eyes or Little Eye.”

The man reported his name honestly.

”Red Eyes, huh? Do you know what has taken over this wild temple?”

”Not quite sure, I sneaked in a few times and found it seemed to be a demon.”

”A single one?”

Gu Xi didn’t ask what kind of demon, for him at most it was a Level 15 creature.

Having fought the Evil God Hall, nothing could phase him.

”Yes, only one, but it’s incredibly powerful, it can control our Walking Yin Line, we’re no match, and it’s using it to control passing Undead.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi turned to look at Red Eyes again, ”How does your Walking Yin Line have such abilities?”

”We didn’t intend it, but to ensure our safe return, when making Walking Yin Lines, we soaked them in special materials to ensure they don’t break suddenly.

There’re inevitably some special substances within those materials.”

”Alright, can I assume that souls controlled by your Walking Yin Line aren’t truly enemies?”

Questioned this way by Gu Xi, Red Eyes grew bewildered.

”Well, I’m not specialized in this, I just know how to use it, whether releasing souls controlled by it will make them friends, I’m not sure.”

”Fine, asking you is like asking nothing. Anyway, next, follow me closely. When I attack the city, you try here, maybe freeing trapped souls will ease things.”

Red Eyes had a look of agreement, though clearly, he didn’t understand a word.

Gu Xi didn’t care much about Red Eyes, and after having Robbie take him away, Gu Xi began adjusting his troops.

Upon learning the enemy was a Great Demon, Gu Xi formed a plan.

If before the attack, Gu Xi intended to let Arroyo take the lead, now he’d changed his mind.

The Black Spear Camp was suited for large-scale battles, not ideal for facing a single enemy.

”Robbie, prepare the Bone-Slaying Camp for battle, Black Spear Camp fall back, position Zombie Corps before Archer Team, Mage... Brave Fight, drain mana quickly, no matter the scenario, force close combat.”

Fallen back at the rear, Brave Fight quickly began organizing the Undead.

Before long, Brave Fight had the altar setup complete, it was a small wooden platform, with a stone furnace in the center, topped by an unused crucible.

Four Skeleton Mage Bosses, leading over seven hundred Skeleton Mages, all faced the altar.

They constituted all of Gu Xi’s Skeleton Mages.

They raised their Short Magic Staffs, aiming at the altar’s center.

Meanwhile, Brave Fight led more than thirty Skeleton Mages circling the altar.

After about two minutes, Brave Fight pointed toward the wild temple.

”Draw mana!”
